Hey, buddy. Twisters do happen on very rare occasions, but it's the hurricanes that are the real treat. There's a 13 foot high sign down the street that warns that storm surge can bring water that high! Most of the time, it's awesome. No horrific storms in the 13 years I've lived here. (I'm in Tampa) Good fishing here. Real good fishing on the space coast too, so I'm told. (that's East of Orlando)
Usually, I risk not putting the waterproof door on the camera housing and just have the 'skeleton' backdoor on. That's why the audio sounds decent. Though I have been known to use a separate external mic on some videos and sync the audio and video in post production. (It's a pain in the butt!)
Really enjoyed this one Marty. Finished off beautifully with the exit thru the mangroves :) . I learned on important thing from this video, ready for the arrival of my kayak next spring. Any fittings on the "boat" will need to be quiet. The knocking and creaking can scare the fish away where I am. Without realising it, you have taught me a lesson I would much sooner learn before I get on the water, thanks :D
i laughed a little too hard on the trouble hook joke for no reason. thanks for making these videos, i really appreciate having the feeling of being on the water even though im not there. i dont really have access to fishing cuz my parents wont take me so i have to wait for when someone decides to hit the water and i tag along. i guess ill live with it. thanks for all the good fishing tips and videos.
I fish with a paddle board early in the morning at the kitchen and catch a lot of redfish. I use topwater spooks and plastic minnows on jigheads. This morning I followed schools of mullet and threw on the edges of the schools. I went this morning and had one of my first really successful redfish trips. I got one for dinner. Caught 4 nice reds in total. 2 of them were in slot, and the other 2 were overslot. I don't think I'd of known the right ways to locate and catch these fish without your videos. Many thanks for your advise.
I just sit on a my modified cooler with pvc pipe fishing rod holders, and put everything I need in there. I snap on the anchor to a ring at the back of the paddle board and use a kayak paddle. Surprisingly it is very stable.
Nowadays, I mostly carry camera equipment in the box. Keeping the fish on the stringer eliminates the need for ice and keeps them alive so if I catch another redfish that is gut hooked and looks messed up, I can keep it and release the healthier fish. (the limit on reds is one) But if the man in the grey suit starts poking around, I still have the box to keep my catch safe.
Good to know, Skyler. I ordered a Zoom H1. It hasn't come in the mail yet, so I'll be using the same setup this weekend. I'm betting the Zoom is going to capture some amazing audio, though. Can't wait!
Thanks Tom! I plan on bringing your book out on the water soon to read a little while floating on the bay. If the fish start acting up, though, I have to dogear a page and wet a line!
another superb video. and for the 6 ppl that disliked this, you simply entered the wrong search terms. for make up and hair products try "mary kay" or "avon"
Goodmorning Marty,,,it looks so nice out there and it sure brings back memories,,,I lived in Key largo for many years , started at 15,. Now 55 an live on lake Cumberland in ky it a nice place through the week,,in summer we callem the Ohio navy,ha .but u do have to watch it,now I got a bike an wondering if anyway to tow a boat like yours with a bike,,,I c tires on your boat at times ,are they for towing,,,,
Well! I learned something from your video, how to hold a catfish!!! I normally use pliers to avoid getting poked by catfish barbs! Oh, and in Texas, I avoid going under overhanging trees. Too many moccasin snakes have fallen into my boat !!! Thanks for sharing!!
I can't believe you have that red on a stringer....... I had real bad luck with a shark last year in my yak with 3 trout on a stringer...... learned a valuable leeson
Pretty impressive Marty! :) By the way, my brother's somewhat responsible for that 'wind indicator'.He's worked there since about 1982-83. Used to ride 'The Bettywood ' barge up the Mississippi, now he's a supervisor on the docks. Small world huh?
Hey do you ever fish Weddon area? I tried there last Feb. and got bites but I think they were flounder and I hear you have to let them chew on your lure for a while before you set the hook.
do you put in at Bull frog creek when you fish the Kitchen? I am in a kayak also and have fished there twice and put in at the little ramp at the bait shop.
If you don’t mind me asking where do you put out when you fish there the closest place I see is bullfrog creek but I’m also not from the area trying it out this weekend
Hey, have you ever tried Yum Money Hounds? Overstocktackle has them right now, there super cheap. They are a soft plastic spook. Hear they work wonders for bass.
Nice stuff ! Like you learning to use cameras and kayak fish! I'm in the Tallahassee area a lot of good spots to film and fish. got my first kayak in may 2012.Wondering what area are you fishing? And are you fishing In tournaments ?
Berkley make 30 plus inch ice rod, little stiffer than dock daemons, great for you. I'm setting mine up. With that.after that video s seen you doing it. Amazing idea there
are you keeping your shrimp over night or is there a bait store open that early there? all the shops here in West Palm open at like 8 or 9 which is way too late
i hate feeding the baitfish with shrimp. Went to bait shop to get more but they were out so i tried bull minnows instead. no sure i'll ever go back haha. i had great luck with those
I remember when my little cousin Conner caught a fish I don't remember what kind but I think it was some sort of bass and it was just under the size it had to be to eat but all I did for him was cast and help real in ( I think where I live the bass have to be 14 inches but I'm not sure) his was 12 or 13 inches He got a picture with it and every thing :) ( this was last spring / summer so I'm not sure about every thing)
Ahhh thanks, Ive been having loads of trouble with my gopro recentley, I cant ever get decent footage, I had a successful day yesterday thinking I made the best gopro vid ever and I got home to mumbling on my camera...the whole vid went to waste!! Thanks for the speedy response though!
Is that the ocean or a very big lake, I just live in a very small country(Israel) obviously outside of the states so we have different definitions for sizes because what americans call a small pong is a very big lake in our terms, please answer the wustion that in the starts of my comment.

Had to sub, it looks like you do everything almost perfectly from technique to good fishing etiquette, and with a very relaxing demeanor
Nothing better than a Topwater Redfish Bite. Early morning one to boot!
You're the man Marty.
Really enjoyed this one Marty. Finished off beautifully with the exit thru the mangroves :)

Gabriel Tullis Doing that from a paddleboard has got to be a thrill!
zoffinger yeah it's really fun.

i swear every time i see you cast i think you're gonna throw your rod into the water. such a unique cast lol. good videos man
O_YEA13 every body is unique :)
Those look pretty neat. It would be nice to have on those days when the floating grass fouls the regular spook jr.
Zoffinger = therapy
This guy was so ahead of his time.. pretty amazing to watch this in 2022

Hey I was out there too I thought I saw you! I was in the light blue native boat. Nice catch!
Great redfish take man! The audio sounds just fine to me. Of course I always use my headphones so I wouldn't know how it'll sound on the speakers lol
Keep it up Marty I really enjoy watching your videos!! When it slows down at work I'm gonna get a yak and hit the IRL!!
this looks so amazing and relaxing! I wish I lived by the ocean.
Me and My cousin have fished there. He lives right down the road. Awesome place to fish!

Good man.... enjoy your sharing... tooo early... can you swim when your sleeping.... grin... take care....
Were you in Florida on the Saint Johns river?
are you keeping your shrimp over night or is there a bait store open that early there? all the shops here in West Palm open at like 8 or 9 which is way too late
If you keep them in a bucket with an aerator and a frozen bottle of water, they will survive all night. Even on a hot summer night.
bait fish are harder to keep alive than shrimp
loveeeee the spook more than 75% of my fish on topwater were off the spook! cheap and effective
We called those little grey cats "turd russlers" and would pick up and move when they overrun the area.
awesome video !
felt like i was right there
=D
Just curious. Where do you put your kayak in to get to the kitchen? I want to fish there but trying to figure out the best entry.
does anyone think i can still catch reds not too far off shore this time of year?ifi get up early enough?
Yes
Is that a refinery in the distance or a power station?
