In my country in eastern Europe we use castor oil as a medicine for cough. We put layer of oil on the chest and back. Then we put cabbage leafs and then wrap with a food film or a towel. Next morning we wake up healthy

Jury is still out on any benefits to the face for almost 60 skin, but I do have two uses that have surprised me. One is putting a light layer on my eyelids makes my eyes far less dry in the morning when I wake up. The other is using it on a sebaceous cyst I’ve had in the middle of my chest about the size of a large pea. It was large enough that I could see the bump when wearing a lower v neck top. Derm said not harmful and the only way to treat is with surgery to remove the surrounding sac and scarring on the chest is worse than other areas. I have had this thing for going on 15 years. Saw a video on castor oil being able to shrink cysts and figured it was worth a try. 2 days after Christmas I began putting a mini castor oil pack on it on once a day. Not even a month later I can no longer see it. I can still feel the remnants of it when I push on that spot but I’m hoping another month will dissolve it completely. I had very low hopes it would work but it definitely surprised me.

I literally just took off a mole with castor oil. Took about 2 months of consistency. Small mole that I was worried about shaving over. It has also significantly lightened the sunspots on my face. Not sure it will remove them but they are a lot lighter. Whatever you use castor oil for it takes consistency and don’t expect immediate results.

Funny story with castor oil. I’ve used it for years with putting it in a empty mascara tube that I bought on Amazon and brushing it on my lashes at night. It’s worked a miracle for my lashes….
I’ve had two skin cancer surgeries on my face the first one on my temple. I had done about six years ago, and after the surgery healed and the scar remained, I used castor oil on it, and it faded slightly.
Recently I had MOHS surgery to remove skin cancer on the tip of my nose. 2 slices were required and I needed plastic surgery to fix the serious hole there.. skin from the bridge of my nose was removed and transferred.. it was a big deal. Well, after recovery all is good, so I started adding castor oil to the scar which was especially bad under the tip of my nose near the nostril. Well (you can see this coming, right?) I now have a lovely dusting of hair all over the tip and under my nose. It looks ridiculous..and makes me laugh. I stopped the oil! 😅
    Yes it grows hair…

It’s so interesting how trends are cyclical - I remember when Caster oil was being touted everywhere for facial massage/first cleaning to eliminate acne, scars, etc. in the early 2000’s. it was everywhere until people reported having major reactions including fungal reactions, clogged pores, etc. I appreciate your reminder to have reasonable expectations - I suspect much of what people are seeing in terms of miracle results are confirmation bias.

Everything hurt my face so bad and I kept trying different soothing hydrating ingredients and nothing worked and because I have acne prone skin I started getting the abnormal breakouts from using such thick creams. Castor oil is amazing for skin. I mixt it with 100 times washed ghee ( shata dhauta ghrita ) in proportion of 70% ghee and 30% castor oil plus 10-15 drops of frankincense essential oil and use to spread all over my body. Is amazing how smooth and hydrated your skin becomes. And for my surprise the spider veins on my legs started to fade away. I don’t know if they will disappear entirely but I will see. The inconvenient is that not having any preservatives in you should keep it in the fridge but melts quickly on the skin.

100 times washed ghee is easy to make. Take a certain amount of ghee, warm it up to melt and with a hand mixer stir after adding every time purified water and discard it after every 1 minute of mixing. To be honest I never mixt and discard the water 100 times. The most I mixed was 25 times. First additions of water will mix with the melted ghee and there will not be left water in the ghee to be thrown away. But after 2-3 times the ghee will start to curdle and water will separate. After that you can deposit the washed ghee in the fridge . You don’t need to prepare the whole quantity at once. Usually I prepare 100 grams that meaning is 70 g washed ghee plus 30 g castor oil and essential oil.. Try it. You will not regret.@@luv2travel2000

I mix about 1/2 t aloe vera gel with about 1/4 t castor oil in the palm of my hand, add a few drops of salycilic acid, one drop each of rosemary and lavendar essential oils and massage it well into my scalp - this amount does half of my head, so I repeat for the other half. I do it a couple of hours before washing my hair. I started it mostly to combat itchiness but also to help stimulate growth. I never have a problem with getting it to wash out or leaving a greasy feeling, but it has really helped the itchy scalp. I do have quite a lot of hair, so it is most likely helping there as well. At 67 years old, thinning hair can become a problem, so I want to keep ahead of that however possible!

I use castor oil IN my eyes (1 drop each eye before bed)! I 1000% believe that it saved my eyesight & healed my problem.
I had severe MGD (dry eye) that caused corneal erosions- my lids would literally stick to my corneas & during REM sleep the movement would cause deep tears in my corneas. It was painful like being stabbed in the eye with a knife. An Indian eye doctor told me it's the #1 holistic recommendation for eye problems in India..
I noticed less pain & better eyesight from the 1st use!!

I also dab it onto some dark spots on my face and around my body. So far, I can say that my super dry and irritated eyes are NOT dry and irritated all day long. My eyes are very sensitive and I’ve had no issues with the castor oil. Also, my lashes are looking healthier. And no styes!!! But I’ve also added an eye warmer massager to the mix to help keep styes away. I’m happy with the results for now and will continue using it. Let’s see what happens after a few more months. I burned myself cooking. After dosing my hand in ice cubed water until the stinging stopped, I then noticed these blister’s starting to form. Cooking a lot so this isn’t my first experience burning myself. Anyway I was and have been using castor oil for a while. So I thought to myself instead of the aloe Vera, I am going to try the castor oil. I applied a lot . And kept applying more. I slept with it all night with a glove. The next morning I kid you not it was pretty much better. No blisters just a little bit of peeling. I was so happy 🎉 Usually, a burn like that would have been at least a week of healing. My skin is soft and feels amazing. I rather use this they any over the counter creams that have so many chemicals. For skin care I mix half of jar of castor oil with the other half of emu oil . Which if you folks don’t know about that oil , then you should check it out. Now it just glides on so smoothly. it is also supposed to help deliver whatever you mix it with into the skin. So I use it with my retinoids as they tend to be drying and I noticed using the castor oil helps keep my face moist. I wear it to bed and in the morning my face looks less drying and the wrinkles are less noticeable

I had been seeing so much on the 'net re castor oil (not a new ingredient for skin care considering Cleopatra purportedly used it!) I decided to try it for 2 ganglion - one is in the middle of my palm and the other is on the bottom of my feet in the arch). The last one I had was on my wrist and the doctor removed it with a long needle that didn't put a smile on my face. I've been putting it on a cotton pad taped to the area overnight and with a bit also applying some to a bump that appeared a while ago on my lip. Within 2 weeks both the bump on my lip and the ganglion have softened and shrunk! I think it's not as fast as a trip to the doc but certainly not as traumatizing. I'll keep it up for at least 3 months and my point is that if it can do THAT, what else can this amazing stuff do?! I think everyone needs to try it with something that's bothering them (a mole, discolouration, etc) and see what happens! Thank you Penny for another great video. I've tried the Avene for lips and I found actually the Uriage one much better - it has Cicalfate also but goes on much nicer and is slightly less expensive.

Years ago I completely healed badly sunburned cheeks with castor oil. I was wearing sunglasses I applied castor oil several times the first day each time the oil was absorbed. So, probably 3-5 times and coated my cheeks heavily before bed. The next morning I was amazed when I looked in the mirror! The sunburn had faded DRASTICALLY! I could barely tell my cheeks had even burned! I continued application for 2 additional days and nights to give my skin what it needed.. I use “Home Health” brand of Castor Oil from Amazon, which was recommended in a 32 oz plastic bottle and is organic, cold pressed, non-GMO verified, 100% solvent free, has no synthetic ingredients and is hexane free and vegan. I researched and found that castor oil is the #1 choice for a sunburn, which I didn’t know? I didn’t know CO had so many “anti” everything and incredibly beneficial factors! I know now! Better late than never! I need research slugging and learn more about it? You will find one bottle with our OTC meds and one next to my facial cleanser and toner. I would say that the brand/quality has a big part to play but I also wonder how consistent they were and for what period of time they used it? Skin cell turnover, from memory, on a healthy young person is approximately 30 days and the older we get the longer it takes for each cycle. So personally whilst I’m new to looking into castor oil I’m not going to put much stock in what anyone says if they haven’t been consistently using it for at least 3 months and those reviews are few and far between but the couple that I have found have reportedly seen great results.
I’m from Australia so my next step will be to look for a quality and affordable brand that is readily available here.
So if by some very slim chance any fellow Aussie’s are reading this and can make a recommendation that would be awesome!!

I live most cold pressed organic oils and use them in many herbal infused mixtures, hair and body/face care. I make a hair growth oil with herbs and castor oil in the mixture with Neem oil, argan oil, etc. I will note that castor oil is very thick so any product you use containing castor oil probably should t be kept on for more than 24 hours. It can clog pores so be careful on scalp. Other than that it’s a wonderful very long time used oil. Love it in anything.

The jury is still out as far as eyebrows growth, but I put it around my eyes (lightly), at night, and I really love the effects when I wake up. I would not put it on my lashes since I fear eye problems that I previously had.

    ❤👍😍 Love this video Penny!
Have used organic, hexane free, cold pressed in a dark glass bottle for years when I make a castor oil pack. Looking forward to adding it to my skin care routine! Thank you. ❤😍
If people have used castor oil around the eye area and had problems I'm guessing it is because they haven't ticked all 4 boxes of: organic, hexane free, cold pressed/expeller pressed and in dark glass.
😍 Thank you for this excellent video! ❤

Mine ticked all the boxes you listed, but still bothered my eyes. And that was even using it on my eyebrows and not my eyelashes.

I have used castor oil for about 8 months. I very much like it. I do find it has helped my under eye area with dryness and possibly some puffiness. However, when I apply it on my eczema flares, it burns.

My lashes and brows definitely grew thicker but I mainly like it as a moisturizer.
I use equal parts shampoo and CO to wash my hair, leave in while I shower then rinse well and my hair feels great.
I use it as full body moisturizer, even top of my feet.

Rajani mask does not emit heat which is the driver of melasma. And he also explains. Can you please revisit that?

Forgive me if this is a stupid question but if castor oil has the potential to increase hair growth in lashes, brows and head, is there the potential for increased facial hair?

    • @PENNSMITHSKINCARE
      @PENNSMITHSKINCARE  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      Not a stupid question!
So the majority of the hair on our body is different than the hair on our head. On our head (scalp) the hair is terminal hair- it can grow long. On our body (mostly) it is vellus hair- vellus hair is peach fuzz (ish) and there to protect us and regulate heat. It doesn’t grow long.
We are born with it everywhere and during hormonal changes (puberty) it changes to terminal hair in some areas of the body.
The hair on our face (as women) should not do that (and when it does it’s usually a sign of something like hormonal changes or medical issue). Brows, lashes and hair on our head can.
I hope this makes sense 🩷

I mystified by this sudden fascination with using pure plant oils as skincare; Oil du jour being Castor oil.
Although plant oils offer many benefits for the skin, using just oils directly on the skin on a regular basis may not be a great idea. The differences in lipid ratios (when they do not match the skin's composition), can potentially disrupt the skin barrier, leading to increased transepidermal water loss (TEWL), irritation, and sensitivity.
Using well formulated skincare products that contain the right balance of ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids to mimic the skin's natural lipid matrix will restore and promote proper barrier function. Many such products include plant oils to take advantage of the benefits without undermining the barrier.
There is much published literatureature on this which is why I don’t understand how it’s suddenly all been forgotten.

I unfortunately didn't have great luck with caster oil for lashes or scalp. I love the DRMTLGY CEF. I'll have to keep an eye on my INCI lists to see if caster oil is listed. :)

Using castor oil as a laxative is a very old treatment. At least 100 years old. It's also much gentler than modern chemical laxatives!

The internal use of castor oil will be far more efficient and so far more important than the external use. For in this manner you will not only be able to excrete all the waste from your intestines but further all the toxins deposed in your body via the liver too. So you should take regularly early in the morning on an empty stomach 1 tablespoon (15 ml) castor oil and you will be astonished upon the effects!
