    • @freetrader0000
      @freetrader0000 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

I spent an earthquake in a relatively short building. I was only in the 9th floor and it wasn't a huge earthquake. However, the swaying could be felt a lot more, we had nausea, and every rumble and noise gave me little confidence on high rise buildings. I'm sure I would've been more calm and composed in the ground floor.
I later found out that only houses fell down, and that supposedly high rise buildings were safer. I guess the main issue is my fear of heights!

Throughout this video it has been said that the architects designed the buildings structure.
Please try to understand that architects have absolutely nothing to do with a buildings structural design .
All design related to earthquake, wind loading, foundations etc is done by civil/structural engineers NOT architects.
Architects only design the layout and general shape of the building.
Please give credit to engineers for what is actually the most difficult part of designing a skyscraper

    • @ryanrodriguez4535

Architects and engineers work collaboratively to come to a structural solution that works with the architectural design.
Don't down play the architects role as just designing "the layout and general shape of the building". That's naive and uninformed.
Engineers are equally as important but don't be salty and reduce the architects role.

I don't understand why people would want to live that high up. What happens if there's a fire at 3am on the 20th floor and you're on the 67th? You're pretty much dead if the fire spreads to the staircase. Ever heard the 911 calls on 9/11 from people on high floors? That would make you think twice about living high up, it's scary af!

I have a view of this building from my windows. It's really impressive. The view from the sidewalk across the street from it, as well as the other super tall new building down the street, gives me a little vertigo. We were going to a concert at Carnegie Hall, before things shut down, and we both had the same reaction. You almost can't bend your neck far enough back to look all the way up there. It's pretty cool. We live in a highrise now. We have friends that live on the 55th floor in a building in that neighborhood. Where else but Manhattan can you live that high up and have an obstructed view. I love the city, covid-19 won't scare me away. I'll be the last to leave. It's awesome here. There's no place like it, not even close.

You're also far more accurate with the details (at least in this video that I've seen) than other luxury ones.

No I would not. 1. Not a big fan of heights. 2. If I was that rich I would rather build a hospital where people can use and get cured from their illness. 3. I can't live without my subway, conveniencese. 4. Wouldn't not buy such a big apartment just for myself, rather invest or save the money. 5. Too luxury for me. 6. The more luxury u get the lazier u will get. 7. Would rather help other people less fortunate than me.

This is absolutely ridiculous. These are the people who should be helping those with less. Not necessarily poor. The could buy up properties and renovate them to rent/sell to lower-middle class.

    Scenario :
You bought a penthouse on 47th floor . One day theres a fire in one of the floors. Can't use elevator .Do you :
    A) take the stairs down until your legs get cramped
    B) go up to helipad . Hoping for air rescue
    C) just stay in your penthouse . Knowing you're spouse will get money from life insurance

Had I the money, I'd live there! But no way would it be my only residence. Swiss Family Robinson (the book, not the movie) had a profound influence on me. Even in my poverty I own five separate places. One is a forested hilltop 3000' higher than the penthouse of 111 W. 57th.

I'd buy a nice 1200-1400 2 bedroom condo about 15 stories up in a 25 story building ($100k for furnishings), with a good-not great-view in the City. With the spare change, I'd buy a small condo next to a golf course in a gated community north of Cape Canavarel Of course, I'd also buy the one bedroom (with bunk beds), large kitchen, and two car garage, near a Rocky Mtn Ski Town. Then, too, I'd buy a 15 year old well kept Nordhavn 60 motor yacht and moor it somewhere in the Puget Sound. And with the money left over, I'd buy approx five thousand ounces of gold. Reality is, I'm lucky to have low house payments on a house with 2 small bathroom without ventilator fans.
