1. AMAZON SELLER HAD BEEN SENDING THE CROSSBOW BROADHEAD (HAVING A MUCH THICKER SHEER PIN) OUT WHILE SAYING IT WAS THE COMPOUND BROADHEAD..
2. THE RIP-TIP TIP DESIGN HAS TO MESH WITH SOMETHING SIMILAR TO HIDE TO DEPLOY THE BLADES
HE SENT US A NEW PACK OF THE 2019 RIFT 2.2 INCH CUT IN BOTH CROSSBOW & COMPOUND HEAD DESIGNS!!
HE INSTRUCTED US TO USE A PIECE OF BLUE JEANS TO ALLOW THE RIP TIP TO MESH AND DEPLOY THE BLADES
WE WERE BLOWN AWAY WITH THE RESULTS!!
THE NEW RIFT 2.2 BROADHEAD IS ONE ACCURATE & MEAN DESIGN AND IS TRULY HARD TO BEAT!!

Yep except they did not perform great afield for us harvested two does with them both ran over 70 yards before expiring and penetration was sub par on shots on the money, as stated in the other comment both hunts are on the channel
The new thorn I really dig as they got rid of the plunger tip it looks like which greatly reduces penetration as it slows down the broadhead tremendously on impact

All you had to do is get the orange pins for the compound bow and you would have been set. They are the same head (compound and crossbow) just different pins.
2cthetruth we saw this after, but if I’m going to shoot thorn (which it is the head I am going to use if presented a shot) I’ll be shooting the rift 2.2, extremely impressive Broadhead

We overlooked it simple as that just like those shipping it to us overlooked it..
a lot goes on during a test and we never even checked... after this test we double checked everything ya live & ya learn
the thorn is finally a broadhead that is revolutionary. it's easily the truest-to-fieldtip head on the market, because it actually IS a fieldtip to start. and I like that the blades aren't trying to be flashy and fancy-shaped, like many heads(rage). these things are simple, strong, and effective. I know they didn't introduce the plunger-tip style, but they really used it to great effect with this design. and coming up with a lock-pin instead of the usual o-ring/rubber-bands also shows they put some effort into making something truly new.
so tired of companies just adding an extra 1/4" cutting diameter or adding bleeder blades as "new, improved" models every year.

Can you do a penetration test with the thorn at longer ranges? 50 or 60 yards. I've seen a bunch of bad reviews on this head and its penetration.
Well we have hunts at 43 & 27 with subpar penetration nothing better than a hunt test

Well I am glad to see that you have figured out how to operate the thorn Broadhead that you said on the last video was a fail and you were really nasty to me when I commented that that was a dumb video because you didn't know how to operate the Broadhead and said it was no good now the owner had to explain it to you how to operate the Broadhead so it would work correctly I'm glad to see you figured it out

As far as the broadhead goes, I’m happy the owner called me and we could go over it of course he’s going to know more about the design than us he made it lol, he’s been following the whole series and is extremely impressed with all the vids
The glue in Thorn broadheads in a gold tip pierce platinum shaft are the setup. Run the 120 grain glue in field point. Then set up three with the 120gr glue in Thorn. Either that or the 100gr glue in field point with a 10 grain FACT weight and set up three with the 110gr thorn. I checked it on gold tips custom calculator either way you end up with a light small diameter penetrating arrow with a good FOC.
I said that before about using something to simulate hide. You should go back and try the sevr head again with the jeans.
Andy Brooks the only reason we used the jeans was the rip tip head is designed to mesh with hide to work properly

Andy Brooks the sevr titanium head is designed for penetration it doesn’t require anything to deploy, we weren’t impressed that it deployed only 50% of the shots plus the Tip was bent after shooting gel

They've now came up with a program for replacement blades. Bones and rocks are a sure way to destroy any blade.

I had the originals could not get to open for anything.
This guy has posted on every single thorn video with basically the same statement. The plunger forces it to at least open a tiny bit, very unlikely it won't open fully. And even the tiny bit open probably will take the deer .
We had it not deploy in the gel, until we put blue jean in front of it, they deployed fine in both whitetail myself & pro staffers Chris Johnson took on opener & day #2 although penetration was atrocious
Just now watching video on these heads. I went with rift 2.2 as well this year shot buck 18 yards not good penetration at all! Then hit rib bone on another lost that one! Accurate as anything but penetration on deer sucks!
That’s what we found as well in two hunts, recovered both but awful penetration
