Thanks for making this tutorial! I spent a while trying to do this but got stuck at tapering.. when I finally was able to taper the prongs the setting turned from a circle to oval. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks Kat!
hello Kat, i just stumbled upon your videos as i'm new to z brush as a jewelry student could you show how to do pendants for names, zodiac signs, monograms? thank you
I have two questions about the tutorial. 1. After I created a cylinder and adjusted prongs then while picking a brush zmodeller and used it on the object. It keeps letting me to convert the object to polymesh 3D. How can I fixed it ? 2. I got a problem when benting a basket setting. while I using a standard move tool(I have older Zbrush version) the prongs on the middle didn't go along the way together and that made prongs got overlaping . How to fixed ? ❤️ Thank you in advance ❤️. I'm a newbie, learning to do jewelry design on this programme.
Hello ! Your tutorials are great!!! Quick question...I downloaded your UI and seeemed load except for the bottom panel. Is there anyway you can offer any assistance? I did both the 208 and 19 versionsi but both did not change the bottom section
Hey Malina! Thanks for your kind words. The bottom part won’t appear until you place an object on the stage, so I’m wondering if that’s what’s happening. From the right panel, click the orange SimpleBrush icon, and choose a primitive. Click and drag on the stage to place it, press the T key, then look for the Make PolyMesh3D button on the far right near the top and click it. The custom interface should appear at the bottom. The other possibility is that it was loaded from the preferences menu, but not “stored,” and ZBrush was restarted. Has it never showed up? Or did it appear, but then not appear the next time the software was launched? Hopefully you’ll see this quickly and respond...we’re snowed in here in Austin, and there are rolling blackouts, so I’m not sure if we’ll have internet.
@@KatAdair thank you! That is what happened. I figured it out. Do you have a tutorial adding gemstones? You mentioned it in the description video but I did not find it.
I am about to release a full jewelry course, but I can tell you that there is something called Ring Master in the ZPlugin menu that contains gemstones. I believe it is automatically added when ZBrush is installed these days. Uncheck “on Band”, then select a gemstone shape. It will add it to the project you’re working on. One important thing to note...if you are working on multiple ZTools (say you’re working on a ring, then use SimpleBrush to start working on something else, and both items are shown in the area by the SimpleBrush icon), you MUST save your work before using the plugin. It will wipe everything out. I generally use the “Save As” button in the Tool area to save individual ZTools-these can contain multiple Subtools-rather than using the Save option to save a ZProject, which contains everything currently open. Hopefully that makes sense. 😃
nazmul hoque, I just saw your message...sorry for the delayed reply. That is a tricky question with a lot of different answers. I use Ringmaster (from Pixologic) to bring in a low-polygon count gem. But when I use ZBrush, I actually resize my model so that the XYZ size IS the mm size. I have to make other adjustments, like working at a lower Dynamesh resolution, but I can use the transpose line as a measuring tool, but also if I bring in a cylinder for a ring, I can enter the mm size as the XYZ size, the resize models around it. I have another video where I use this technique, but I’ll do a tutorial here shortly where I explain my technique. Other artists are using Scalemaster or Ringmaster to establish a scale, and it works for me, but I prefer working at an “actual size” and not a scaled size. Hopefully you found an answer before I replied...my parents went into assisted living and I’ve been downsizing and remodeling their house for the past year.
You want to append a ring 3-D in the Subtool section on the right. Then you’ll switch to the move mode, and use the arrows in the gizmo 3-D to position the ring. If you’re feeling brave, you can also append a Cylinder3D, divide it three times to smooth (command or Ctrl D), in the Geometry section use Del Lower to remove the lower subdivisions created by dividing. Then we use something called Boolean Folder to subtract the cylinder from the ring. Place the ring and the cylinder In a folder, with the cylinder at the bottom. Turn on the “moon” icon (subtract) on the cylinder, then use the gear on the folder to Boolean Folder. That will give you a flat inside to the ring shank. Use the Gizmo to resize and position the ring. 😃
This is an awesome teaching video, thanks for that but I have a question, I couldn't manage to download the stone tool, isn't it in the file or should I look for somewhere else ?
I just added a Stones file to my Google Drive...it has 4mm stones in a variety of shapes in one file. Use the Load function under the Tool palette to load, then switch to your project and use the Append function to add the stone. Whatever stone is "active" in the Stones subtool will be the stone that shows up as you Append another subtool. I have been using Pixologic’s RingMaster plugin for the stones ONLY. you can add very low poly count stones to your project. However I do not like the way that RingMaster handles sizing of the rings. But it does have a feature that allows you to “add gemstone” and choose a size. If you’ve been following my videos and working with size like I do, the stone will come in very small. Easily fixed by resizing, though. I uncheck the “on band” option. In the description, I've added a link to Pixologic's Plugins page as well. Stay tuned...I have another video on making a basic band, then turning it into two different rings coming. It deals with size a lot! And thank you!
Yes, look in the Ring Master plugin, toward the bottom under the Gem Stones section. Uncheck the button marked On Band, then press Add Gem Stone Subtool. You will probably need to center the Gizmo 3D...switch to the Move mode and when you see the Gizmo, click the third icon that looks like a Google Places icon. Then click the Home icon over the Gizmo. Use the arrows to drag the stone into position. Let me know if that doesn’t do the trick!
I'm learning 3D modeling, and your video helped me a lot!
Thank you so much ♥
