the song almost sounds like there's two different singers since the high and low tones are so different. he had a pretty damn unique voice in his early years
I can't believe this song is underrated... how can this masterpiece not be appreciated by every man alive? This song rules the earth, and so does Pantera. RIP Dimebag.
best CFH song, Phils falsetto are priceless, Vinnies heavy sticks are destroying everything and Dimes riffs are groovy as hell, definitely metal poetry EDIT: Calm down guys, I didn't intend to leave Rex out, I was just highlighting the stuff that stands out to me in this particular song. REX is the GOAT, he carries half of Pantera on his back, and he's my favorite thing in many songs. So here is to the unsung hero REX BROWN! EDIT 2: yeah it's not a falsetto, I stand corrected
Yeah, probably one of the most underrated Pantera songs ever. To be honest, I didn't dig it at the first listening, but it's grown on me after several times and now this is one of my favorite Pantera songs.
Once proud a fearless man With desire in their eyes Lost strong and fruitful lives To self-indulgent ties Their souls were dipped in venom And put into a box Then placed upon a crowded shelf Where countless souls now rot Have you ever wondered what hell's like? He can take you there Just one taste and you'll be back and by the high you'll swear
Virtuoso80 the best way to hear Pantera was live in person. I saw them at Ozzfest in '98 and on their last US tour in late 2000. they sounded so huge. great sound both times, just felt every notes vibrating in my bones.
Story of my life as well my friend. I have a pioneer in my living room with 2 15s and 6 tweeters. I sit my recliner in front of it and lean my head between tge speakers on full blast and it gets me my fix.. Try it bud.
Such a good song. This showcases dimebags knowledge of scales beyond regular minor scales. He is the one metal musician who uses diminished scales to their fullest.
This is one of the Metal Songs that opened my eyes to the Power of Metal , cruising in my Benz coupe , Dimebag rips in on his Solo , get the Fuck Outta Here !!!!
yeeeees this song just popped in my head i havnt listened to it in so long. I remember being like 17 trippin on mushrooms in the dark in my room listening to this!!
I worked at a record store back when those existed... And we got a promo copy of this album before it was released... Needless to say every night at closing this thing got cranked the hell up... And we got an Alice in Chains promo as well... We were like who are these guys then we put them in and I've never stopped listening to them
The 90's seemed like such a better time for music. Better metal. better Hip Hop. Better House and better techno. The 90's were the time to be in. Lets make a new era of better music people! it doesn't take alot, just the forming of a few individuals who are creative and willing to experiment and push the boundaries of the genre.
i need to get this album. i've had cemetery gates and cowboys from hell on my ipod for ages and only now have i thought of looking up the other tracks on the album. they're all so good. heavy and groovy.
So glad I got to see this tour. I was really drunk, but do remember me n 500 other metal fuks on the stage, yes, Phil invited us up at the end, for Cowboys. Good memories! RIP DIme!
Earlier Pantera had a lot more diverse lyrics. Later the music was still great, but lyrics were pretty much all about strenght and power and whatnot. Oh, and drugs.
i got my first boombox around the age of 9.. my dad got it for me one Christmas and i had three cds.. van halen .. Boston and Pantera. my dad played guitar. he was pretty good. i love listening to dime and trying to follow his rhythm. impossible but fun as well as my drums. vinnie is alot more relatable
No other metal band had the spirit of rock and roll that embraced (kiss influence maybe?) like they had. They just sound like the heaviest rock and roll band of all times (on eleven), and that is something that few bands achieved. Listen to the cold gin cover if you want an example. Too bad I didn't get the chance of seeing them live.
Phil's falsetto when he was young was absolutely fuckin insane one of the most underrated vocalists ever
the song almost sounds like there's two different singers since the high and low tones are so different. he had a pretty damn unique voice in his early years
FACTS
Phil is the one real, he's not fake like you..
the guitar work in this song is UNREAL
Man, I bet everybody who liked Pantera in the 80's must've fell very in love with them in 1990 when this album came out!!
I’m a hardcore 80’s Pantera fan, Terry Lee era. Just heard this song and fuckin love it!
this cd NEVER leaves my car lol
+ninjastar666lol Its what I play too, although I constantly cycle between pantera, death and atheist.

Had this cassette actually stuck in my dash for a whole summer. No regrets
Unreal to think that Phil used to be able to sing like this, its like a different person lol. Amazing vocalist.
Lonnie Booth crack does terrible things to people
GauntletXGamer9740 i thought Phil just had a heroin addiction for years?
^
yes he is!
Before being heroin addict I think they change the direction of their music to loose definetly the glam side with that high notes !
I can't believe this song is underrated... how can this masterpiece not be appreciated by every man alive? This song rules the earth, and so does Pantera. RIP Dimebag.
The main riff is sick
Phil had such a good voice.
+Klista Bateman Lmao no his voice is in horrible condition nowadays.
Key word. HAD
Heroin is a hell of a drug
best CFH song, Phils falsetto are priceless, Vinnies heavy sticks are destroying everything and Dimes riffs are groovy as hell, definitely metal poetry
EDIT: Calm down guys, I didn't intend to leave Rex out, I was just highlighting the stuff that stands out to me in this particular song. REX is the GOAT, he carries half of Pantera on his back, and he's my favorite thing in many songs. So here is to the unsung hero REX BROWN!
EDIT 2: yeah it's not a falsetto, I stand corrected
And rex's killer bass
epicsurge989 I was gonna say that. You hear that growl and Rex's unmistakable style throughout the whole song.
Gabriel Price i know right i ended up having an argument with a friend over pantera best bassist, i was rex all the way
+Gunnar Thiessen and no one cares about rex XD
Too bad phil cant sing for shit now days
When my kid was a baby, I would sing this and he would cry when I hit the high notes. Lmao.
XD You're horrible, man
Haha...it's turned him into a huge metalhead though. He's four and he sings along to Absu while I'm driving.
+Gabriel Price Dad of the year
+Gabriel Price I became a metal head at the age of 2, listening to pantera, and I have to say you are the best parent ever xD
My son head bangs to this with me lol and hes one and a half xD its great. I had a pantera onesie for him too when he was smaller.
my medicine man is my weed guy
do you like holding this hand and you understand?

He's the h man for sure
@@GoodHealthIsGoodLife we all love medicine man
Jesus Christ, Phil's voice is so amazing on this song. One of my favorites.
Listen to power metal album by pantera
Underrated as F#CK
Dude ik man ik
Yeah, probably one of the most underrated Pantera songs ever. To be honest, I didn't dig it at the first listening, but it's grown on me after several times and now this is one of my favorite Pantera songs.
I can hear so much "Death" riffing in here! Love it!!
Yeah man that main riff reminds me of some Death riff but I can't put my finger on it...
@@sparkygg5886 Misanthrope
It's so tragic what happened to Dimebag. He was my favourite guitar player of all time. Rest in Peace.
ONE OF MY FAVE PANTERA SONGS EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!
Masterpiece...
Once proud a fearless man
With desire in their eyes

To self-indulgent ties

Dimebag is the best fucking metal guitarrist ever! The riffs and solos are full of CREATIVITY,anger and rhythm.
Rob Halford does some mighty backing vocals on this

The more times I read the comments the more times I scratch my head I don't understand what these fuckers are on about??????????????
Ostler666 phil will kick your ass for that comment your not pantera fan poser get lost
man that joke was like a 747 soaring through the sky over these kids heads......
Did anyone notice the squeaky voice playing underneath Phil's around 1:27, the line "Wonder what Heaven's like, he can take you there"
What are you on because You Sir,are definitely Trippin!
I never heard it with my speakers but on my headphones, I definitely hear it.
TheFalloutExperience i heard it man
I notice it. As well my friend.
Still Phil, I think. Just my opinion. Sounds similar.
Just has some digital modifications.
Phil's voice-never soared higher⚡🎙️⚡
RIP Vinnie! Goddamn :(
Dimebag was something else. How effortlessly he goes from rhythm to lead...This song is heavy as hell too
I couldn't get into this song before, even though I tried several times. Now I finially did, and it's an amazing song.
SilverBane the best on the album with heresy
The thing about metal is that it's ok at first then it grows on you
@@aidenmcdaniel4641 That's right man

R.I.P The Legend Vinnie Paul.
best album ever made!!!!..................accumualtion of best metal songs from the 70s and 80s all packed into one album!
It's a great album. Best album ever though? I wouldn't even say it's Pantera's best album
@Rowan Melton it's top 2 for sure
The volume doesn't go up high enough.
+Virtuoso80 wait till the ads start... the will blow out....

Virtuoso80 the best way to hear Pantera was live in person. I saw them at Ozzfest in '98 and on their last US tour in late 2000. they sounded so huge. great sound both times, just felt every notes vibrating in my bones.

Such a good song. This showcases dimebags knowledge of scales beyond regular minor scales. He is the one metal musician who uses diminished scales to their fullest.
Perfectionist
This is one of the Metal Songs that opened my eyes to the Power of Metal , cruising in my Benz coupe , Dimebag rips in on his Solo , get the Fuck Outta Here !!!!
MONSTER RIFF AND SOUND
Damn , Dime was a fucking wizard... These solos are so powerful.
This riff sounds like parasite by kiss. Dimebags main inspiration
I can't believe this album is 30 years old
phils falsetto notes are mind blowing
Love the bass line to start off this song:). My fav song off of CFH so far.
Terrible news to hear about vinnies death, 54 is no age.
It's like Dime found the pick of destiny at a young age.
yeeeees this song just popped in my head i havnt listened to it in so long. I remember being like 17 trippin on mushrooms in the dark in my room listening to this!!
Overlooked solo IMO, love it
i love the power metal vocals in this cause its kinda a throwback to what they did in the eighties
Happy Anniversary Cowboys from Hell. 26 years ago today (7/24) !!! This is one of my favorite songs from cfh \M/
I worked at a record store back when those existed... And we got a promo copy of this album before it was released... Needless to say every night at closing this thing got cranked the hell up... And we got an Alice in Chains promo as well... We were like who are these guys then we put them in and I've never stopped listening to them
So underrated...
This song is pure poetry, you can't have better quality songs than this.
this song is addictive
This is the darkest and heaviest song on the record. I don't know why it's so overlooked.
phil's 80's voice- R.I.P we miss you
This album in general is Phil’s best works IMO. Those explosive 80s high screams and the perfection that was the abbot brothers
One of the best riffs ever. One of his many.
One of my underrated favorite tracks from Pantera right here! Dime's outro is absolute 🔥
Hear the little demon voice talking through the verses
Dill Doe 1:27
The brothers are together again. RIP Vinnie Paul

Amazing
The riff at 0:30 makes me think of Death - Misanthrope
R.I.P. Dimebag, You were one of the best. You made one of the most unique, But most badass guitar sounds ever..
Earlier Pantera had a lot more diverse lyrics. Later the music was still great, but lyrics were pretty much all about strenght and power and whatnot. Oh, and drugs.
Saw them live several times during the 90s, and all Phil could talk about between songs was LEGALIZE!
Ok, Phil. We get it. lol
But this one's also about drugs...
Earlier Phil lyrics are more discreet, over the years his style becomes more raw and hostile
@@dbk7448 i wonder if he was trying to tell us something
love it
Love the ending of the solo! Something magic and nostalgic about it. Love the album.
best part of high school right there :)
