Excellent review! I ordered the four wheel drive version yesterday and they are estimating the end of July for delivery. I live in the mountains of east Tennessee and I am tired of swinging a string trimmer on my 30-35 degree slopes. This mower looks like it will be perfect for my needs. Thank you for the excellent video!
Hi, another great video thank you. We live quite close to you over in the Ariege with a large "garden" blessed with an average slope of 30-35 degrees. We're getting a bit fed up with the days and days of strimming so we're looking for a radio controlled slope mower. Accepting that you have the 2WD version, do you have a view on this little beast's ability to cope with a steep hillside garden? The kickstarter site claims that it would cope with 75 degrees which is obviously nonsense. I'd be surprised if wheeled drive, rather than tracks, would manage with slope mowing but we'd value your opinion. Thanks very much and keep up the great work - really impressed with your output 👍
I think they say 75% grade which is about 37º. The 2WD did it but with the front wheel it is not perfect. The 4WD I think would cope well with that slope depending on how slippy or wet it is. It is super fast though, compared to my tracked mower
They shoud have an area to put counter wieghts on the front for stepper areas..above the front wheels..had a landscaping/lawn maintance business for 15yrs and this would have been great to have for the stepper more dangerous places were I couldn't take my mowers and had to weedeat
There is a 4WD version which is much better on the slopes and they are bringing out an automonous model soon too. But exactly what you say, I use it more on the hard to get places with a normal ride on or tractor.
You can take the bag off and I did this which allowed it to shoot the grass out the back - 4WD for rough terrain is advised. Hoping to fit this in the future.
I think I saw it on Facebook. There are a lot of different machines now coming out all very similar. No doubt this one will end up having a myriad of attachments - Shame you cannot try them all out before buying one.
Mowrator looks like a great bit of kit, but, I would point out that using this machine from a non moving/standing point is no good for ones figure. Please keep your rather enjoyable vlog going. Many thanks.
Hello, thanks for the review. I quite like the product. The thing i like is that you actually control it yourself as opposed to other 'robot ' mowers. Do you know when you'll be receiving the products from mowrator to change it to 4wd? Id need the 4wd version for our garden. I'd like to see you putting it through its paces. Cheers.
That is why I like it much more than the autonomous mowers - you get to control where and how fast it goes. Not sure on the 4WD kit as they are really busy getting the machines out to the customers who mostly bought the 4WD - I would go for that one for sure.
Great video, I am researching the right robot mower for my property so this new one is very interesting. I live in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, USA. I have a 40% slope that is not very smooth has a few ruts and bumps in it. I am curious if you have an area around your location that you could do another video demo on how it performs on uneven ground and a steeper slope. I appreciate the help and will look forward to your next video. Thanks!
When your in cruise control to make the turn around do you have hold joystick and not let go or do you just tap it if your holding will it just keep going around? Thanks!
You basically press the auto turn at the end of the run (either left or right) There is a play button between these two button - after the turn you press this play button and it will continue straight, no need to use the joystick but if it doe sneed correcting then you can correct using the joystick but it will stick carry on in auto until the next turn or you stop the mower with the joystick. Once you get into it, it works really well.
It goes well - I am awaiting the upgrade kit to make it 4WD as the little swivel wheels on the front can swivel the wrong way sometimes, making you slow or stop on the hills. But put o 40º so far and it was fine.
But where is the fun it that - I do like the fact that you do control it as you cannot map gardens you do not know. (a lot of garden contractor have been testing these as well)
But you need all that RTK and GPS signal access. In Gardens with a lot of big trees and a lot of obstacles i would prefer this version with remote control. I like the big blade too.
Yes for sure - the zero turn front wheels tend to swivel a lot when going up and down slopes - work perfectly on the flat lawn but for tougher terrain the 4WD. I am hoping to convert it in the near future 👍🏻
@@HomesteadingUncontained ahh so you got to keep it! Wow. That’s cool. Thanks for the reply by the way. I’m new to Kickstarter and after reading the comments on the Luba (I think it was called - nobody got theirs, it was deemed a scam and impossible to get the money back from China).
@@wolfiemedia wow - I just bought a tape measure from Kickstarter - it took 2 years to arrive. It is very good though 🤣 - the Mowrator guys are really nice, I have zoomed called them several times with their marketing and their engineers (mine is still a prototype and has a few issues). They found the same problems and have fixed them all for the production models which are ready to ship. I have a feeling they are using kickstarter as a promotional tool more than a funding thing - just my thoughts. Don't get anything from them other than this mower.
@@HomesteadingUncontained yeah, I’m not full of cash to throw around, but I can afford the 4wd one if it’s legit and turns up! It would be a bad loss though, I ain’t gonna lie haha. Thanks for being so honest about it. It looks like they have a production line and they are ready to ship them, so hopefully it won’t be a long wait. Cheers mate 😉
Great machine! from where is it shipped? and from where are spare parts shipped or where can it be repaired if something happens? Can the bottom be wet cleaned with a garden hose?
Initially they ship from China to warehouses in the US and Europe. They are setting up service centres (one already in the US) - Yes there is a spigot to attach a garden hose for cleaning.

Such a great review Ian. And I like the nickname you gave it 'Little Beast'. It lives up to it.
Cheers Doug, not used to doing these but thought this was a nice bit of kit.

It is a great machine and jealous you are getting the 4WD version. That will work great on the slopes.
"I don't know where my husband is. The last time I saw him was last Monday and he only wanted to mow the lawn." 😂😂😂
hahaha, I know, didn't realise I had so much grass - need to get livestock sooner than later. 🤣
That looks like a very capable machine. You did a great review on it.
Thanks Harry, back to normal service on Wednesday 😀
Great review ,amazing how things have moved on.
I do like the fact that you still operate it..... not many of those
Loved the review . . . But can wait to follow what your doing next on your property
Hopefully on Wednesday...back to normal service 👍🏻
Nothing beats a laughing child labor force.😄
Had to cut the bit where their dad (my son) sat on it and drove around the garden chasing his kids 🤣
Great job as always
Thank you - normal service on Wednesday 👍🏻
Its a great powerful lawm mower ian 😎👍
I thought it was great..... they are sending me the 4wd upgrade kit to see if I can fit it.
Great review Ian! Have you determined the range of the remote? Thank you for sharing! 🤟🤟🤟
It stretched across the full acre - not sure I could see it from any further away.
Excellent review

Hi guys, is this machine the replacement of the red one that you two used to use?
Not really, the red one just keeps going and we use it more as a brush cutter - but it is so slow. Just happy these guys sent us this one to try out.
@@HomesteadingUncontaineddo not you have any more specifications of it, like motor power and wheel motors power?
and seeing it cut that grass at 15 mins is my reason for wanting this :)
There is not much problem with the length of time for the battery, I think you would need a cup of tea before it ran out of power 😀
I am interested in a product similar to this. Electric with 4wd and similar tractor type tires for rough terrain. It doesn't need to have a bag. ...

I would go for the 4wd version. They are sending me the parts to upgrade so will do another test then. 👍
Shame its not got a solar panel to charge it over 5 days, is it fully rain proof?
It would have to be a big panel, plus the charge controller. Too much weight. Yes fully waterproof, they show the testing on their website 👍
It seems quite fast, now you just need a drone with a camera so you can mow the lawn from the sofa ;)
Or you could get a PTZ camera.

@SD_Alias in gardens without big trees I would prefer luba. Obstacles are no issue just map them out. Simples.

Takes around 90mins to charge. But it lasts for a good 2 hours on fast speed. They say up to 3 hours on flat at low speed.
