Oddly enough, I am not of the "Balsamo's Jesus interpretation is the best ever" camp, but I agree with this sentiment. He's an amazing vocalist, better than any of the other pop people out there. Why he's not well known is beyond me.

I clicked to see if he had the voice to perform Gethsemane.....I was totally blown away!!!!! I started listening to other songs, and indeed, he has such a wonderful voice!! Good video! I was surprised with the plot, although is difficult to believe Balsamo, with that good guy looking, is guilty of crime of passion! That's a compliment! Both singers shine!

Absolutely gorgeous. Been a fan of the Balsamo voice since Geth and this shows that voice remains as stunning as ever. Deighton's voice very different but it works really well. A really powerful recording. Superb.
check out who wrote the song it certainly was not Steve and Rosalie, saying that, I think Steve is one of the most underrated performers of the last three decades his vocal talent is unsurpassed and his ability to convey emotion is truly human,and the same can be said about Rosalie, if we listen maybe we can alter or change certain situations, we live in hope
Quite simply a beautiful song..simple and clean; yet the Vid is laden with sub text...I'd even go as far as to say, a true 'shedding' of a mantle - one that Steve's been 'labeled' with for years. Yet, I'm intrigued with the religious symbolism's in this - that remain. ( the Vicar, the Cross etc)... At first, I thought he was about to become a monk of some kind...yet we see it's a prison service chaplain) certainly a thought provoking Video. :)
It strikes too deep for words but if I had to choose words here what could they be but "God have mercy on our souls" I don't dare state an interpretation cause it's just too frightening but I never dreamed of seeing this song used/interpreted this way but now I have and finally I'm speechless.I've been re-reading Shawn Colvin's book and know that she wrote this song to herself for comfort but there are so many dimensions to it but this is not one I wanted to contemplate beautifully done as it is

My interpretation of this: Jesus is being sacrificed. Mary Magdalene serves. The newspaper suggest a dispute or appeal. Is it an injustice? Are we going to kill an innocent man? I think the rings represent the 2 thieves and Christ on the cross. I think you are so right when you say 'It strikes too deep for words but if I had to choose words here what could they be but "God have mercy on our souls" ' I'm speechless too.
