I'll never forget hearing a request for this song on the radio. It was an older woman who called in and said "Can you play that song by the poor man whose girlfriend did awful things to him?" The DJ said "Do you mean "You don't Love me Anymore"." She said "Yes, that poor man. I feel so bad for him." She had the sweetest voice and seemed to truly feel so sorry for Weird Al.
I took my ( at that time ) very young son to see Weird Al in concert at a local college. He was a huge fan and I was...skeptical. If you've never seen him live you owe it to yourself to go at least once. The world needs Weird Al.
Yeah, I managed to see him live just once, and it was more than worth it. I'm not really a fan of concerts, but I would definitely see him live again if I had the chance. It was awesome.
jerry murphy Yeah, his band is some of the best live music I've ever seen which took me aback at first. I guess that's what happens when they're playing every genre of music together for 30 years. :)
I've seen him five times in concert, with the fifth time I got to meet him (he signed my Cheese Sandwich). Each concert I went to was highly enjoyable and in person he was really polite about signing my Cheese Sandwich.

He didn't do the video in one whole take. The guitar was a replica of the one used in the "More Than Words" video and cost $1,000, so he had only one chance to smash it because a cheaper guitar wouldn't match the original video.
honestly the fact that this only has 3 million views is so sad. this has always been my favorite song by him, and forever will be. i literally listened to this on repeat when i was like 7.
Al without a mustache: Looks like that one guy who's still friends with his elementary school teachers. Al with a mustache and glasses: Napolean Dynamite.
I believe it’s called a pastiche, a song written in the same style as another song. So it’s an original song, but written to sound similar to More Than Words.
Brilliant! the mix of confusion and sadness always brings me to tears. The way that he makes it so that you wonder if she doesn't love him anymore, if these are all accidents, or if she's being hired by reptilians that are part of a Rebel space fleet trying to destroy the world thereby putting mosquitos into extinction. The way he presents the lyrics in a way where you as well feel his sadness and wonder about alien life and reptilians. I can hear through the whole song the hatred of the space government and the want to alliance with the alien rebels who are trying to kidnap all the cows in the universe. 20/10 would listen to till my ears drop off or the space government kills me
The first verse has a strong James Taylor vibe ... the voice, instrumentation, lyrics ... after that it still sounds like James Taylor. This is a masterpiece.
I love this because my Mom loved this. She likes sweet love songs, and seeing the stereotypical ballad upended in this way had us cracking up. I know Weird Al has retired, but please PLEASE just one more album, dude... You could save the world!
Weird Al, this is supposed to be an absurd song, but it actually sounds sweet, in a morbid kind of way. It's easy to dance to and the lyrics are catchy. A true masterpiece... Loved it, thanks for the video.
I love how the band member in the beginning of the video had a little piglet in his lap, then later in the video he’s eating ham. Brilliant. Weird Al is a God.
This like any great weird al song begins quite normal. He sucks the listener into thinking this just a regular break up love song but doesn't take long to go off the rails in Al's typical style. Saddest Al song I've heard but also pretty funny at the same time. What a roller-coaster of emotion.
i actually memorised the lyrics of this song then i sang it to my Very First and Last Girlfriend that i had... She was laughing so hard then when i reach the mid-part, she burst to tears, then at the end of the song, she hugged me like never before. Now, she by my side again :'D. Thank You Al, for this wonderful song...
This was the very first Weird Al song I ever heard as a little kid. I've been a fan ever since. He played this live at Graceland last night. Not gonna lie... I got misty eyed.
Oddly enough, same for me. Got the cassette and had it on repeat as a kid. One day, my friend in elementary school heard me listening to "Smells Like Nirvana"....and handed me his cassette of "Nevermind" and said "here's the real version of that song"- that moment laid the foundation of all the music I've gotten into and sought out for the next 31 years (as of this reply)... eventually picking up the cello in middle school (influenced by Nirvana's "Unplugged"), then bass guitar, and even some 6-string action.
It just hit me. The song "More Than Words" that this is parodying is about him telling his lover to SHOW him how they feel, don't just say it. Here, she really is showing him how she feels. By repeatedly trying to kill him.
He touches my heart like so many singers have. I want to sing along because I know all the words and remember them. My body feels the rhythm with my heart, listening to the sway of sultry music. I'm telling you he has an unspoken talent. He can rock you and romance you at the same time. I'm not naming names but there are a lot of singers in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that have romanced thousands of women just like Al. He can play this music and turn it round an make a country and western song and be good at it. I think he better talented then most Rock Stars even here in 2023. This song is still better then most popular music today. I'm an old rocker and I love Al music.
I am thinking about singing this song for my best friend wedding. He loves crazy things like this. I'm not really a singer or like to be in front of a crowd. I wish I had some help singing it. I think it would be great fun.
Seen him play this live at the strings attached tour in New orleans on June 13th 2019. He smashed the guitar and everything at the end...funny shit man
Haha nice I was at the Strings Attached concert in San Diego back in 19', and he did the same. Was an awesome show. He even put the guitar down twice instead of once.
Could never get away with that today. I think about half the things we did in school when we were kids would never happen today, some for the better, but most for the worst.
Randomly decided to listen to this today for the first time since I was like 7. Damn that hockey team line went way over my head back then, but damn haha.
Imagine deadpool singing this about black widow. Scarlet Johansen dressed as black widow casually setting traps in the background as Ryan Reynolds in the deadpool suit is playing slowly on a guitar.
At the 4:11 mark, I like when he angrily takes the guitar out of the other feller's hands, and just smashes it into a million pieces as if he had finished performing a heavy metal tune and just walks away as if nothing happened at all. He must've been that angry to have gone through such a gruesome relationship... Weird Al, you, sir, never disappoint!!! You are... AWWWWWWWWWESOME!!!!

Sometime I get to thinking you don't love me any more
You slammed my face down on the barbecue grill
Now my scars are all healing, but my heart never will
You set my house on fire
You pulled out my chest hairs with an old pair of pliers
Oh, you think I'm ugly and you say that I'm cheap
You shaved off my eyebrows while I was asleep
You drilled a hole in my head
Then you dumped me in a drainage ditch and left me for dead

honestly the fact that this only has 3 million views is so sad. this has always been my favorite song by him, and forever will be. i literally listened to this on repeat when i was like 7.
Such A beautiful song
You slammed my face down on the barbecue grill. Now my scars are all healing but my heart never will.
Read this just as he sang it, thumbs up.
dewhi100 Same here !!! :)
Tameem Al-Talabani Whoa, I just did too.
+dewhi100 shit, that was eerie. Me too!
Matt Kuhlen
It's a line of the song that me and other fans particularly enjoyed.
But yes, you must be very, very smart for pointing that out.
The guitar tease is comedic gold.
I've been going through some problems of my own, glad weird Al's always here to get me out of my blues even if it's just for a few minutes.
A year later, I have to ask: have your problems been worked out--or at least mitigated? Hope your life has improved.
Al without a mustache: Looks like that one guy who's still friends with his elementary school teachers.
Al with a mustache and glasses: Napolean Dynamite.
That Guy Again with the mustache and glasses he’s the elementary school teacher that the guy is still friends with...
Don’t insult Weird Al like that.
And Freddie Mercury without the mustache looks like?
love it how he holds the guitar like he's gonna play and just sets it down
This is pure genius
I feel sorry for the King of Parody that this woman tried to kill him.
Quite
If I only would've known, I would've made this my wedding song.
Jennifer Juniper, based upon your post I guess your marriage hasn't been a happy one if that's the case sorry to hear that.
Lol
Right there with you
So.. a guy getting tortured and "You dont love me anymore" would be a wedding song????
Oh man, YES. Comment winner.
Al's original songs are so epic
Actually it is a parody from the song "More Than Words" by Extreme. But yeah, Als originals are pretty good!
Alberto Guime No. The VIDEO is a parody of Extreme's video, but the SONG itself is an original, like I said.
whomme2 is hella right
Yep. It was the label's condition on having it as a single to parody a video for the song.
I believe it’s called a pastiche, a song written in the same style as another song. So it’s an original song, but written to sound similar to More Than Words.
Proof that he can sing normally while still being hilarious.
The soft crooning tone paired with the lyrics are priceless. He's a comedic genius!
Brilliant! the mix of confusion and sadness always brings me to tears. 20/10 would listen to till my ears drop off or the space government kills me
My sentiments exactly.
Vintage Gamer yeah that's exactly what I was thinking lol
the song is brilliant on so many levels
love how he went all Keith Moon on the guitar at the very end
or you know ... Pete Townshend ...
Tonya C
yeah, that's WHO I meant...
+Adam Seltzer lol!
Absolutely. I mean, I only remembered it because of the Squeeze Box ad in my mail today...but it was nice to remember just the same.
"...the way that you laughed, when you pushed me down the elevator shaft" kills me every time :D
My favorite part, since I like riding on elevators.
In my opinion, next to the line where he sings about his girlfriend smashing his face on the grill, this is the best line of the song.
I genuinely unironically love this song, such a good song
The first verse has a strong James Taylor vibe ... the voice, instrumentation, lyrics ... after that it still sounds like James Taylor.
This is a masterpiece.
The expression on Al's face speaks more than words.
I love this because my Mom loved this. She likes sweet love songs, and seeing the stereotypical ballad upended in this way had us cracking up. I know Weird Al has retired, but please PLEASE just one more album, dude... You could save the world!
You slammed my face down on the barbecue grill... Now, my scars are all healing but my heart never will... Genius. Pure genius.
This is a love song.
Wow.. top notch craftsmanship on that guitar at the end. Took forever to really break it, lol.
My mom bought this album when it came out and I listened to it so many times I memorized all the songs. I don't think I've heard this over 25 years.
This is one of my favorite Wierd Al songs! Especially the part about the cobra snake in the underwear drawer.
I remember when my buddy let me borrow this album. This was such a great original track! It made me laugh and still had so much heart. Love it!
Weird Al, this is supposed to be an absurd song, but it actually sounds sweet, in a morbid kind of way. It's easy to dance to and the lyrics are catchy. A true masterpiece...
Loved it, thanks for the video.
One of my favorite songs ever written
Total Genius
I love how the band member in the beginning of the video had a little piglet in his lap, then later in the video he’s eating ham. Brilliant. Weird Al is a God.
I got Al to sign our picture together "I used to like you, Now I tell all my friends you're the Antichrist" I am not lying!!
You his girlfriend? 😂😂
@@siddhantbasnet8528 No, but you can make me your "girlfriend," *wink wink* lol
This like any great weird al song begins quite normal. He sucks the listener into thinking this just a regular break up love song but doesn't take long to go off the rails in Al's typical style. Saddest Al song I've heard but also pretty funny at the same time. What a roller-coaster of emotion.
Story of my life................Thanks Al.
i actually memorised the lyrics of this song then i sang it to my Very First and Last Girlfriend that i had... She was laughing so hard then when i reach the mid-part, she burst to tears, then at the end of the song, she hugged me like never before. Now, she by my side again :'D. Thank You Al, for this wonderful song...
Weird AL=Genius
I'm going to see him in concert TOMORROW! I hope he plays this song!!
He did this song in Wichita last week.
He also did it in Bend Oregon this summer. they put on a great show. Emo was funny too.
How was the concert?
This and "One More Minute" goes hand-in-hand.
Love itt
As a Canadian the whole hockey team reference is amazing.
Was it the men’s team? Or the women’s? We’ll never know.
Well, there are some girls like that. They always seem to be dating hockey players.
The lyrics are somewhat Tom Leher-esque. Brilliant!
This is simply one of the greatest and most hilarious videos to ever exist.
Picking up the acoustic and not playing it has me rolling every time haha
One of my favorite Weird Al songs, and my favorite of his originals. Brilliant!
still one of my alltime favorite weird al songs
Thanks for finally fixing the beginning! :>
@@JettBlackheart Wouldn't that be the exact opposite of circumcision? :D
He is such a unique, talented artist! really enjoy his work.
I still remember the way that you laughed. When you pushed me down the elevator shaft- cracks me up every time😂😂
No one can write a love song like Weird Al.
Holy crap! 6 years and it's finally the full video!! Still love this song!!!
This is my fav Wierd Al song, ok I lie, nearly all of them are, but this one, you get to actually hear how nicely he can sing. Love this!!
Great Valentine’s Day song!!!!
He smashed the guitar and everything at the end...funny shit man
Don't you think the title "Strings Attached" would be a good title for his next album, if he makes one?
@@sha11235 hell yeah
Haha nice I was at the Strings Attached concert in San Diego back in 19', and he did the same. Was an awesome show. He even put the guitar down twice instead of once.
my 5th grade reading teacher played this while we worked.
He or she rocks
Now he is cool
I had a math teacher around 4th or 5th grade that used to play nothing but Weird Al while we all did math-related color by numbers.
Damn how did the kids react and that's a very cool teachers never that played that
Could never get away with that today. I think about half the things we did in school when we were kids would never happen today, some for the better, but most for the worst.
Don't worry Al, we still love you! We will always love you! : )
greatest love song EVER.
😢 why feelings gone and why it hurts! They song hurts!
Yeah but then we would have to endure more Deadpool
@@Sorran87 exactly! Win-win!
That's my absolute favorite part of he song
He's taking out his anger on the guitar because she doesn't love him anymore.
i love the drummer just giving up at the beginning, wig and all
My favorite line:
"You slammed my face down on the barbecue grill,
Now my scars are all healing but my heart never will"
