That was a calm and thoughtful reminder to all. I like how you are serious about your preparations, but having fun while doing it. You've normalized an activity that could be very stressful if taken to an extreme. Who said being practical can't be attractive???
Olena, thank you for your touching message. It means the world to us that our little videos can bring some light and inspiration during such difficult times. Sending you and your family love, strength, and hope from Sweden. Stay safe, and we’re cheering you on with your renovations. ❤️
A very sobering reminder of what it is like to live so close to the War on Ukraine situation. Sad that you must prepare for that. I hope that pet food is on the Prepper list too!! We cannot forget our furry friends!! I like the dark paint colours. It is restful and easy on the eyes. Looking forward to seeing the baby!! I am sure that you are too!!
Thank you! You’re so right-our furry friends are absolutely part of our preparedness plans. And yes, we’re counting the days until the baby arrives! 🍼 We’re glad you liked the dark paint-it’s such a grounding color for the pantry. Take care and thank you for your thoughtful words. ❤️
What a beautiful way to describe it-thank you! The way light plays with the jars really does bring a special charm to the pantry. We’re so happy you noticed that detail! 🌟
Great video on being prepared for a crisis. Many thanks to you both for bringing this to our attention. Hopefully you may never encounter a crisis but you will be so much better off by having the essentials to survive a power outage or the convenience of not having to leave your home.😊
Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 We truly hope we’ll never need to rely on our preparations, but it’s always better to be ready, just in case. Your thoughtful comment means a lot to us! ❤️
You are smart to be forward thinking about preparedness - Great to incorporate it in a pleasing and aesthetic way (as is your modus operandi throughout 😊. The pantry is a jewel box for sure.
Thank you so much, Tracy! We love finding ways to balance practicality with aesthetics-it’s all about making functional spaces feel inspiring and beautiful! ❤️💙
Great panty ideas for future. I remember when the pandemic came many of us were lining up at 7:00 am to be at stores to get our toilet paper, Kleenex, paper towel and other dry goods, which were scare, so I always keep all of this plus other things on hand. The granola recipes looked great and loved your dress you wore when you were making them.
Thank you, Darlene! The pandemic really was a wake-up call for many of us, wasn’t it? Stocking up on essentials brings such peace of mind. And I’m so glad you liked the granola-and the dress! 😊 It’s those little things that make life feel cozy.
This is brilliant! I love your intentionality! We too have an apocalypse pantry in our basement! You are inspirational in all you do! I am now thinking of all the ways I can make my kitchen pantry more functional and beautiful!!
Thank you so much! It sounds like you’re already ahead of the game with your apocalypse pantry-love that! Making spaces both functional and beautiful has been such a fun challenge for us. Good luck with your kitchen pantry makeover; we’d love to hear how it turns out! 😊
That was the first thing I noticed was the pantry window and it struck me as brilliant because you can see the inventory in the room without even having to enter. I can see too that it is like a jewel box. ❤
What a great idea to remind us all that we don’t know our 😊tomorrows. We should all take notice of the world around us. Not to panic but just prepare. Super video and now back to organizing my pantry. Deborah. North Carolina 😊😊❤❤
Thank you, Deborah! You’re so right-preparing doesn’t have to mean panicking, but rather finding peace in being ready for whatever life throws at us. We hope your pantry organizing is going wonderfully-it’s one of the most satisfying tasks, isn’t it? Sending love to North Carolina! ❤️
I love your primary pantry. The windows help make it not look like a conventional pantry - instead you truly have a “jewel” near the kitchen. You also have a lovely assortment of glass and ceramics to display there. I remember the Cuban missile crisis of the early 60’s as a child. I lived in a Canadian place with a NORAD base that housed nuclear missiles. For weeks before, my parents studied government brochures with instructions on how to build a nuclear fallout shelter. They never did. Very traumatic for a young child. We worry about war in Canada too these days. The granola looked delicious, Kristina. Karl - the shelves are perfect and your “apocalypse pantry” is ready. (Praying it will never be used though). 😊
Thank you so much for sharing your memories-it’s a reminder of how important it is to be prepared while hoping for the best. So glad you appreciated the jewel-like vibe we aimed for in the pantry! And we couldn’t agree more about hoping the "apocalypse pantry" remains unused. 😊 xx
Lovely renovation, love watching your videos. Can I ask perhaps you give us a layout tour at some point? You have so many lovely rooms and books and it is hard to imagine them in context to other rooms. Maybe it’s just me, 😂. But keep up the good work, your home is lovely and you have done an amazing job.
Thank you, Thora! A layout tour is such a great idea-we’ll definitely keep that in mind for a future episode. It can be tricky to see how it all connects, so showing the bigger picture would be fun. Thank you for the kind words and for following along! 😊
Thank you! That’s exactly what we hoped to achieve-the dark shelves really let the jars and food shine as the main attraction. So glad you noticed and loved the idea! 😊
Thank you, Stephanie! ❤️ We’re so glad you enjoyed the episode, and the kids are absolutely loving their little hideout. It’s been a fun and cozy addition to the study!
I absolutely love the glass pantry. I suppose if someone wanted the same and felt worried about the heat, they could add shades that could be pulled down during the day in the summer months. Great video.
Thank you, Kyle! That’s such a thoughtful suggestion about the shades-definitely a great idea for anyone planning a similar space. So glad you loved the video! 😊
great to know you have enough matches and other stuff, I (DE) checked with the Amish since they are independent, like them I have some milk powder now and all kind of pickles, cooked fruits, marmelade, chocolates (ok for no real limit of time), candles, matches, solar radio to turn up mechanically also... hopefully never needed for war but for expected blackouts or end of money supply, when shops will not open, its good to know you have enough chocolate when you forgot to shop in bad weather 🙂 stay brave and save 👍
Thanks for sharing! It sounds like you’re wonderfully prepared and have thought of everything-even chocolate, the most essential of all prepper items! 🍫😄 Stay safe and cozy, and here’s hoping none of us ever need those emergency supplies.
You guys are amazing! Just knocking out projects right and left!! Love your primary pantry and great job on the back-up pantry. Nice to know you’re prepared for anything. 👍 Love from Mary in Southern California. 💗
well done! everyone needs to have a pantry reminds me that we need to be putting some additional emergency items in ours as well. please send me airline tickets and directions to your place as well you have much more room than we do and we promise not to eat too much!! should i bring wine??
😂 You are absolutely welcome-wine is always a good idea! Thank you for the kind words, and we hope your pantry prep is going well. It’s all about being a little ready for whatever life throws our way. Cheers from Sweden! 🍷
I know literally countdown the days before you guys post a new video! Please please continue doing your Vlogs. They are very very enjoyable better than TV and everything you do is professional and classy. Interesting. We learn things and absolutely adore You guys🥰 take care , love from America.
Donna, you’re the sweetest-thank you for such kind words! We’re so thrilled you enjoy our vlogs, and it means so much to us to know they bring joy to your days. Sending lots of love back to you in America! ❤️
In the US, we didn't know about the government-circulated pamphlets, so I found that interesting. Nice job on the back-up pantry! I don't know how you find the time to squeeze all that work in on top of full-time jobs! And one more note: that pretty window in the main pantry forces you to keep it neat. 😊 The glass jars are attractive. Thanks for another good video!
Thank you so much! Yes, that pantry window definitely keeps us accountable for keeping things tidy! Glad you liked the glass jars too-they make everything feel so much more cohesive. 😊
Yet again another fabulous vedio, it is sad that we all feel the impending doom. But even with this reality we're all very optimistic thar mankind will eventually will be able to all live in peace. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us. Love you guy's!❤
Thank you so much for the kind words, John! We couldn’t agree more-hope and preparation go hand in hand. It’s all about doing what we can in our own little worlds to stay positive and ready for brighter days. We’re so glad to have you along for the journey! ❤️
I would probably use this space differently, as a place to store extra table decorations, candle holders, candles, candle drip guards, and table cloths for the dining room. However, very sensible to have 2 weeks backup of food!
That's a great idea! We actually have another storage space just to the right of this space, that we plan to turn into just that: flower potting room, storage for table decorations etc. Stay tuned!
Loved this video, being in Tn. we have been prepping for two years and 2025 is already proving to be a wild year. While California folks deserve our prayers, please remember the people in East Tn., NC, SC, Ga. Ala. and Fla. who are truly suffering from loss of everything. Hope your nation will not be in danger any time soon. Don't forget the baby products in your pantry!
Loved this small excursion over the snowy landscspe. Just dreamy. As, you talked about emergency situations. Have you ever checked if it would be possibke to generate your own electricity using water or wind power on your property? Solar seems inpractical due to the sheer size of the property but wind/water might work
@SwedishManorLife such a shame, it might have been a nice relief for you. But hey, at least youbhave the lovely view and, if all goes pear shaped, yoi can still burn some of the wood from your trees
SO GREAT!!! BRAVO!! What a wonderful project and so smart to get that done before the baby comes so you aren't having to run out for staples when you want to be cozy together at home. I absolutely love how you reuse what you have and then make it look brand new and in keeping with the beautiful look of the Manor by the paint treatment and sisal rug. If there are any imperfections in the Apocalypse Pantry, we couldn't see them. It looked finished to a fine degreee. I start almost every day with fresh fruit, yogurt and granola, too, so that was fun. Thank you for sharing all!!
We’re so glad you noticed all those little details-it’s been such a rewarding project to bring together, especially before baby arrives! Granola mornings sound delightful! Sending you warm wishes from the Manor! ❤️
That was wonderful and it looks so good too. I commend your government for sending out that pamphlet and you two for following their advise. Question: how do you keep your gorgeous brass candle holders etc so darn glossy?? Cheers and best wishes for your imminent new one.
Thank you so much for the kind words! The brass candle holders get a bit of TLC-just regular polishing with a soft cloth and brass cleaner when needed, though sometimes the patina is part of the charm. And thank you for the good wishes-we’re so excited about the baby! 😊
(by the way, I am watching this while grinding cardamon for cinnamon buns) I am always amazed at how you transformed the kitchen space that was in the building to the kitchen and pantries you have today. What was a large industrial space is now quite a cozy, useful space. That took real vision.
That's nice that you were provided with that helpful pamphlet. Everyone, everywhere should be. I agree, it is good to be prepared and ready. Just in case for whatever, even bad weather. I have several good books on this subject. I find it helpful buying just a couple extra things to store each week. So it's not overwhelming. Also, it is good to grow and store as much as you can. And I highly recommend getting chickens. The pantries look great! I wish I had nice ones like that😊
We couldn’t agree more-slow and steady is definitely the best approach for building up a pantry without stress. So glad you enjoyed the pantry tour, and we hope it sparks some inspiration for your own space. 😊
Thank you! Having the storage space is the first step and then you can add to it as you go. Gotta make sure to take inventory of it all at least annually to make sure things don’t go bad!
Wonderful to paint the pantries in Cadburys Milk Chocolate😋🤣🤣🤣 they both look amazing. Granola should have a govt warning. Our favourite is from Yasmin Khans book The Saffron Tales. The liquid element is a mix of Date Molasses/ syrup and Maple syrup with a couple of tbsp honey. Not exactly weight watchers approved but sooo delicious. Lovely snow scenes tonight too. Keep safe and well👌🤣🤣😋👌👌👌🫶
Susie, your granola sounds so decadent-it’s practically dessert! Haha 😄 Thank you for the tip; we’ll have to look into The Saffron Tales. So glad you enjoyed the snowy shots too! Stay safe and keep indulging in those delicious granola creations! 🥰❤️
Kristina and Karl, Thank you for this lovely vlog, very practical and beautiful. Would it be possible to upload a link for us for the yellow handbook you worked from that we can use google to translate or can you advise where to obtain a hardcopy in English. Loved the windows and glass in the door of the main pantry. Cheers from France.
Thank you so much, Kim! So happy you liked the windows and pantry door-it’s one of our favorite details too! Cheers back to you in France! 🇫🇷❤️ Here's a link to download the booklet: www.msb.se/sv/publikationer/om-krisen-eller-kriget-kommer-pa-engelska/
@@SwedishManorLife Thank you so much for this. I am sure others will find it useful as well. Stay warm from a very not (not as cold as yours) Brittany France.😊
People don’t have Go Bags either. Growing up in LA, we all have them. Not just brush fires can burn your house down. Keep a Go Bag with all your important stuff, ready to grab. Passports, important documents that you want to have off line, aluminum blankets, hard drives etc.
Dorothy, such great advice-Go Bags are so smart for peace of mind! We hadn’t thought of aluminum blankets, but now they’re definitely on the list. Thank you for sharing these tips; it’s always good to be prepared for anything life throws our way!
Hi first time here, thank you for sharing, I've watched you on Phillip and Anna. The book called 'No Grid Survival Projects' is good for surviving off grid and times of trouble. I love Granola thank you for sharing the recipe, I will swap honey for date paste. 🥰 Keep safe x
Hi! Welcome, and thank you for joining us here! We’re so glad you found us through Phillip and Anna. 😊 'No Grid Survival Projects' sounds fascinating-we’ll definitely check it out. Wishing you all the best and happy pantry planning! 💛
you put my lack of preparedness to shame (and I live in FL). Hope it is okay if I don't store my provisions (when I finally get them organized) in such grand style as you and Karl!!???
I'm definitely more hippie than prepper, but i firmly believe every person/family should be prepared to live without outside help for at least 2 weeks and preferably a month or two. My family ( including my husband) thought I was nuts and made fun of me for years... until the great pandemic. After 3 days people started freaking out. There are a lot of reasons to be prepared, not just war (which is a big one) - natural disasters, man made disasters, solar flare, plague etc. can put a lot of pressure on first responders. As a responsible adult who wants to help and not hinder the recovery of my state/country, it's my duty to make sure we are prepared as much as possible. You don't have to buy everything at once... it took a couple of years for me to get to the point where I knew my immediate family could survive for a few weeks without help.
Your thoughtful approach is inspiring, and we couldn’t agree more-it’s about being ready for anything while staying calm and collected. Your journey to preparedness is such a great example, and we’re so glad the video resonated with you! Thanks for sharing your perspective. ❤️
Such a timely video given that I’m 🇨🇦. With the new US administration, we should probably revisit our emergency preparedness plan. 😢 Love your everyday pantry, it’s well thought out and beautifully designed.
Thank you! It’s always a good idea to revisit plans and ensure everything is up to date-no matter the circumstances. So glad you loved the pantry design-it’s been a joy to put together! ❤️
Happy New Year! I've said it before Kristina & Karl, you are giving all of us so many excellent ideas 📝 for turning our homes into a much cozier abode. With using things around the house or giving our local DIY store a visit or two. Who doesn't want to add a much needed pantry to the kitchen 📏📐. Your pantry looks very sleek. We see why Kristina is so excited on how it turned out.
Happy New Year to you too! 🎉 Thank you for the kind words-making spaces cozier with little touches is truly a joy for us. We’re so glad you’re finding inspiration, and we can’t wait to share more ideas! 🏡✨
Just love your pantry.. and am going to copy your colors.. and shelves, I collected so much food and things during covid that it is not that long ago I actually finished all the toilet rolls I had bought,, and my daughter has just used up her supply of pasta... so I would be great at stocking up a pantry. May you never need to use it..
Copy away-we’re thrilled the pantry colors and shelves have inspired you. Here’s hoping it all stays a backup and nothing more, but it’s always good to be ready. 😊 Happy organizing!
Tack! Då behöver då trycka på den klock-liknande ikonen på vår TH-cam-sida. Den brukar finnas bredvid "Prenumerera" knappen och då blir du aviserad så fort vi lägger upp något nästa gång!
We call it survival pantry. I live in Washington state where there are earthquakes and fires and because we’re Americans were also concerned about nuclear war.
That’s a lot to prepare for. We’re blessed not to have earthquakes or major forest fires in Sweden. Nuclear war, however, has unfortunately made its way back on the agenda for many people again. Let’s hope the world calms down soon. Stay safe! 💙
I think you can now be called educational. LOL. Everyone seems to be facing their own geographical apocalypse. I decided I can start my own TH-cam video when I have outbuildings, all the Chateau owners have them, otherwise it is just a house. Have a great week.
Great vlog, renovating & preparation, so smart to bring awareness into focus for all of us. Cheers from Oz. I think the only way humanity will unite as one will be the time we are invaded by true aliens from another world, the poor buggers.
Thank you so much, and cheers to you in Oz! 😂 Let’s hope we never have to test that alien theory, but in the meantime, being prepared brings us a little more peace of mind. Stay safe and united! 🛸
This is a very horrible time in history and they way you tackled this topic was very thoughtful, with that said I feel like it’s not a safe thing to put up on the internet ….because people change in times of need. God willing it will never come to that.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment. We completely understand your perspective and share your hope that it never comes to that. Our goal is simply to inspire preparedness in a way that brings peace of mind. 💕
That was a calm and thoughtful reminder to all. I like how you are serious about your preparations, but having fun while doing it. You've normalized an activity that could be very stressful if taken to an extreme. Who said being practical can't be attractive???
That’s exactly it. Keep calm and carry on 👍🏻😊

Hi Kristina & Carl. The Pantry is beautiful! Love Patreon! Thanks for another great video. I Pray Kristina is feeling well🙏🙏🙏Blessings
Thank you Laura! ❤️🤗 We’re on edge here eagerly awaiting the baby’s arrival! Xx
I love the glass pantry!
Yay! Happy to hear it!
(by the way, I am watching this while grinding cardamon for cinnamon buns) I am always amazed at how you transformed the kitchen space that was in the building to the kitchen and pantries you have today. What was a large industrial space is now quite a cozy, useful space. That took real vision.
Thank you. It takes a little time to go from hotel to home, that’s for sure! 😅💫
Its all sooooo perfect!
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Love your videos and style. We all should be prepared.
Thank you so much! Preparation really is key, isn’t it? We’re so glad you’re enjoying the videos-it’s lovely to connect with like-minded people! 😊
This is so great that you show how to prepare for crisis! This is really good knowledge to have! Really really helpful information!
Thank you! Having the storage space is the first step and then you can add to it as you go. Gotta make sure to take inventory of it all at least annually to make sure things don’t go bad!
Thank you for reminding me
Thank you for watching!
Wow, the pantry with the window looks like a cute shop window. The color is beautiful, can you tell me what paint it is?
Thank you! We share color schemes and more with our Patreons. If that's something you would consider joining - please head on over to have a look!
Love the colours! ❤
Thank you! 😊
Let’s pray that war doesn’t come. The saying goes better safe than sorry, so you are preparing and that’s good. Nice job 😊😊
Agreed! Let’s pray for the best and prepare for the worst! Thank you for watching! ❤️🤗
Yep - looking forward.
Yay! 🤗💫
Like the name back up pantry, not apocalyptic!! Lol, good video, as usual! Well done
Thank you! Agreed! Back-up pantry is better!
@SwedishManorLife thank you xx 🥰
love it! Amazing job.
Thank you! We’re so happy you enjoyed it-it’s been such a rewarding project to share 😊
Ohhhhh love this already
Haha hope you like it! 🤗❤️
I love it. You’ve inspired me to “design” my pantry.
Yay! You should! 🤗😄
I hope there won't be NO WAR in Sweden! You have other problems🤔 Love your Manor and your work👏 From Israel🌷🎗
We agree and hope for the best! Thank you for following along!
All so perfect👏🏻
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Önskedröm…estetiskt och praktiskt!
Mycket praktiskt! Och estetisk tilltalande såklart 🤗
Yay 😊Happy to see another video! xx
Happy to have you with us! 🤗💫
you put my lack of preparedness to shame (and I live in FL). Hope it is okay if I don't store my provisions (when I finally get them organized) in such grand style as you and Karl!!???
Haha that's perfectly OK! Just promise to organize it in way or another - and stay safe! :-)
Another fantastic project ❤️
Thank you! A small, but important, one! Stay safe everyone! ❤️
could you give us more details about this leaflet
Sure: www.msb.se/en/advice-for-individuals/the-brochure-in-case-of-crisis-or-war/download-and-order-the-brochure-in-case-of-crisis-or-war/
an alternate name for the Apocalypse Pantry could be the War Cabinet 😆
Haha yes! :-)
Love your everyday pantry, it’s well thought out and beautifully designed.
Being Canadian also, no matter whacky one's government (our current one) it's a great idea to be prepared, especially in such great style.
Thank you! It’s always a good idea to revisit plans and ensure everything is up to date-no matter the circumstances. So glad you loved the pantry design-it’s been a joy to put together! ❤️
Do you have a geothermal system and solar with all your land?
Yes, we do have geothermal. No solar - it’s not efficient enough for the energy demand of this property 😊
beautiful! will you please share the paint brand and color? thanks a bunch!
Thank you! 🙏🏻 All of our colors are developed by us specifically for our projects and we reserve that type of info for our Patrons 🤗
When are you due ? Do you know what your having ? Would love to see the kids rooms and the new nursery. I bet they are awesome as well
Due in early Feb, although we'll find out soon enough what the baby's plans are :-)
❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️
Just love your pantry.. and am going to copy your colors.. and shelves, I collected so much food and things during covid that it is not that long ago I actually finished all the toilet rolls I had bought,, and my daughter has just used up her supply of pasta... so I would be great at stocking up a pantry. May you never need to use it..
Copy away-we’re thrilled the pantry colors and shelves have inspired you. Here’s hoping it all stays a backup and nothing more, but it’s always good to be ready. 😊 Happy organizing!
Simply perfect!
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Trevligt video!
Får tyvärr inte era aviseringar i mitt flöde 🙁
Tack! Då behöver då trycka på den klock-liknande ikonen på vår TH-cam-sida. Den brukar finnas bredvid "Prenumerera" knappen och då blir du aviserad så fort vi lägger upp något nästa gång!
Recipe only for the patrons?
Yes, but we’ll make it free for all registered Patrons (ie has a free account). Welcome to hop on the train! 🤗 We’ll put the recipe up soon!
Thankyou so much, a joy as always (even though - for me the music is like lift music.. apologies)
Glad you like the episode! Music is all a matter of taste - put it on mute if you can't bare it 😉 Thank you for watching! ❤️
Everyone watching needs to subscribe ❤
YES PLEASE! 🙏🏻❤️😊
Can’t imagine why a domestic building requires walk in freezers. A bit extra 😮
This isn’t your typical domestic building. And it’s not required. This used to be a hotel and the walk in freezers are from that time 😊
top marks for removing the '4 years ago' introduction ;)
Well, there you go! ;-)
Stay safe! 💙
I live in an earth quake zone too - just above you in Canada.
The world is concerned about nuclear war. 😊
I miss the fern from the last episode ❤
Haha busted Moa! It’s a feathered asparagus. You should know that 😜
+1
🕯🕯
Thank you for watching!
I think you can now be called educational. LOL. Everyone seems to be facing their own geographical apocalypse. I decided I can start my own TH-cam video when I have outbuildings, all the Chateau owners have them, otherwise it is just a house. Have a great week.
Haha maybe you can find some outbuildings on Craigslist to add, and you’ll be up and running in no time! 🤗❤️
@@SwedishManorLife Your humor is the best. Busy searching Craigslist, Etsy, etc.....
@@kerriegood1046 should be some good 2-for-1 deals to be made. Go big or go home! 😉😘
Kul titta på er
Men Swedish Match är inte länge ett svenskt företag Tyvärr
Tack! Ägandet är tyvärr inte längre svenskt men bolaget är det 😊
