It’s still surprising to me that Nickelodeon allowed this to air, especially in the 2010s when the network was arguably at its worst in terms of censorship.

The saddest part about Splinter dying here? Usually, the Turtles call him Sensei or just Master Splinter. This is one of the only times they call him father 😢😭

But then you don't show it but the part when Leo looks up in his telescope and lets out that horror yell my heart stops
Then the same thing when he yells no it gets me every time
In all my years of being of fan of animation, there have only been a handful of moments that have actually gotten me to cry. This was one of them.

Remember seeing this and hats off to Seth Green cause that scream when I first saw it was truly chilling. Also my idea is that while they were able to undo the Triceritons' destruction of earth, Splinter's death at the hands of Shredder was always an inevitability
@@anthonyhudak9363 That scream of his lives rent-free in my head. It's one of the moments that makes him my favorite voice for Leo, not to mention my favorite Leo in the franchise.

I watched this episode when it premiered 7 years ago and still tear up at Splinter's death. Real glad Nickelodeon let the writers lean a little darker with this finale, it makes for some incredibly impactful moments

I remember thinking a similar thing about Splinter and how many this show keeps seemingly killing him off and then bringing it back. However, a reviewer named E-rod the blockbuster buster, once made a good point about it that I thought made sense 🤔.
He mentioned that Splinters dying here shows that the turtles didn't really prevent his death from Shredder like they thought they did when they time-traveled earlier in the season. All they did was postpone it.
I personally always felt that this show always wanted to be the adaptation that actually kills off Splinter to strengthen the Turtles journey, and it's definitely wearing that as a badge of honor 🤔.
At first, I wasn’t so emotional about Splinter dying because it happened almost two times ( yes I am aware he didn’t die, he was just in the sewers with his mind lost). But then you realize that it’s the point. Splinter isn’t missing, or saved from dying through time travel, this time its permanent.
So everything the team tried to do to save Splinter ended up being for nothing.
7:30 most fights leatherhead wins is always against the kraang and footbots, he deserves to catch a break
Heavily recommend watching the TMNT 2003. Peter Laird worked directly with it. It adaptates the original comics with its own dark and gritty take. It's also the second longest running iteration of the turtles with a TV movie and an after season 7 special, mini episodes. The humor is very much 2000s, but the characters are amazing, their development throughout the series is great; season 3 has one of the darkest episodes known to the series (Same as it never was)
Fun fact about this episode: There is an existing draft that tells something dark and disturbing happens to Donatello in that episode.
And season 4 has 2 very disturbing episodes, ONE of them managed to get aired on live TV! The other remained a script (Nightmares Recycled), and it explains the origin of one minor villain of the 2003 series who's actually related to one of the mayor villains and meets a very gruesome and graphic ending.
I was so hurt when splinter died man….

Next episode is definitely up there as one of the best in the entire show. Season 5 is my favourite season of this show but this second half of Season 4 is definitely second - third in the show for me

one thing that always confuses me about this episode is where ever happened to rock well and mondo gecko they just some reason disappeared after the turtles and them had came to the mighty mutanimals headquarters they could have been with splinter group to help them fight super shredder and what happened to slash I know that he had got knock out but he should have gotten back up and what happened to leather head wasn't he was in the shell raiser with leo and mikey donnie we should have seen both of there reactions to splinter death

i like this episode and everything but my 2 small problems i have with this episode was 1 i feel like that they should have had muck man and siri malachi bishop piegon pete kurtzman karai foot soldiers be up in this episode helping them fight super shredder and them and mondo gecko rock well shingaim alopex should have shown up to help splinter and them especially rock well and 2 what was the point of them going back in time to not only save earth but to save splinter if they was going to kill him off later on anyway
I feel like they shouldn't have nerf slash up in this episode because slash got knock out to easy and should have gotten back up to fight super shredder on the rooftop I know that the reason why they did it and everything especially since he got an team and they want the other team members to have a shiny but times and episodes like this is where you don't nerf characters especially if they are fighting an powerful enemy
It’s less Slash was nerfed and more Super Shredder was just insanely more powerful.

It's very heartbreaking that Splinter died because of Shredder it's very fair, and Splinter never had the chance to spend more time with his daughter.

Season 5 is not really canon to the series. It’s sort of like a “what if” series. There are episodes that last 1-3 Episodes long in season 5.
well with the exception of episode 5 of "the rat and his kids" which is an episode that should have been released a long time ago
The first 4 episodes are canon though. Sure, they feel like a tale, but it's direct continuation and conclusion of season 4 plot.
The main story ends in season 4 for me. Even though season 5 is still good.

Don’t listen to the people who are saying season 5 isn’t canon, it is.
If I’m not mistaken (slight spoiler warning) the Kavaxas arc at the beginning of S5 is canon, as it follows the events of the S4 finale, but the rest of the episode are just “what if” stories that aren’t canon to the overall series
Oh & of course, the flashback episode with the younger turtles is canon aswell

The reason I think the kavaxus arc isn’t canon is because Fishface is still alive

Bringing back splinter only to kill him off again makes the space arc pointless.. so this might be my least favourite season finale episode
no because that wasn't the point of the space arc, it was to save earth, their goal was never to save master splinter in that arc.
