Amy you are So right about the phone situation.. and I love the idea of watching your series… and to those like me who’s crazy about stand mixers I’m crazy to know the in and out but also your Opinion means The world to me
Hi Amy, I just wanna say how much I love listening to your channel. I am totally blind and I really appreciate you describing how things look and what is going on. Also are your recipes linked in your description box hope to hear from you. 0:471:26 just curious Amy does the mixer actually talk to you like does it read the scale out because if it does, it would be awesome for me as a totally blind person this is really neat if you don’t mind, let me know what you find out as far as how accessible it would be to someone who is totally blind I know that’s probably a lot for you to do but if you don’t mind, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you.
Hi Crystal! Thanks for watching! I am so glad that the videos are helpful! I will be sure to remember to describe everything as best as I can when filming. I really appreciate the nice comment! I have the recipes on my website. There is a link in the description. You can find the recipes here: www.amylearnstocook.com/
I watched some other videos so I could get you an answer and it does not appear to be equipped with the TTS necessary to read out the scale measurements, unfortunately.
i work in IT, so i have a lot of exposure to stuff. i also hate the way everyone tries to "there's an app for that!" or "control everything by your phone!" LOOK. it's great IF it works and IF it keeps working.... and IF it actually does a good job or makes your life easier. i personally don't want to interface with the world around me THOUGH A DAMN PHONE. why would i want to control a mixer through a phone? i'm RIGHT THERE. maybe if it was down to stuff like long mixing times but just... ugh. if you're doing bread, get a breadmaker. and you don't need to use your damn phone, just walk in the kitchen. now, in-oven thermometers with a digital output on the outside of the oven?? yeah.... that has a host of reasonable uses. and if you're doing something that takes a while or you need to pull it out promptly, an app that will let you get a notification is great. i guess i just overall feel these companies jump on the bandwagon, and don't do it WELL, or even ask if it's necessary. so you get a lot of BS, bells and whistles that are pointless, useless, and generally are an upcharge. ((that said, i haven't fully watched, but the commentary at 2:05 was just right along these lines.))
glad you enjoyed. I feel your thoughts. You can guess Amy's a little disappointed with "smart" food processors. Hoping a simple mixer will work as a mixer. But stay tuned. We'll cover that in the near future.
That's a nice looking mixer. You should definitely check out the Wilfa Pro Baker stand mixer. It's a very different kind of stand mixer. I'd love to see you put it through the standard Amy learns to cook testing 😊
@vincentgrosshans1218 I saw a few videos of the Wilfa mixer on TikTok some time ago and I was completely blown away by the power and kneading abilities of that mixer. I'd love to get one, but they are quite expensive...
22:22 thank you, eric. quick disconnect makes total sense. i can practically feel the action in my hands. that seems like a really nice innovation in this thing. (who the heck is paying $1000 tho??? that's why i say they need some models that are at the lower price points.) i love my breville oven/toaster oven and use it like every day. who needs a big oven? lol. but i hear they skimped on manufacturing so that even the newer ones now aren't the same. mine is from.... 2015 maybe? potentially 2011. and, they have a known issue with the power button where it's jenky after time. my mom's failed while i was down helping her with post-surgery. and mine started being similar. if you poke the button near the top or sides, and round-robin it, you can eventually get it on. AS SUCH, i wonder about the breville other appliances. and by extension, where GE is at.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed. Sorry to hear Breville cheapening their toast oven power buttons. Sounds like my Nokia phone. After a year, that power button didn't work either. LOL.
I love GE appliances in the big Kitchen appliances. With the smaller ones I just want to be able to turn it on and off, And what happens if the technology in this mixer becomes obsolete? Do you have to buy another one. I can’t wait to see these videos,
Amy, I know you're going to do your usual Stand Mixer Challenge, but could you do a NOISE comparison between this GE Profile Smart Mixer and one of your KitchenAid Mixers such as your Pro 600, or Pro 5 Plus just to see which one is the LOUDEST stand mixer?
idk the bowl latch mechanism looks less fiddly than a kitchenaid. i know it feels diff in person but from just looks, it seems less fussy. i know people have complained about the KA one.
When yout got to about speed 8, the mixer bowl really started to shake as well as a mechanism in the back of the next. It also almost seemed like the paddle was spinning at an angle and popping up and down and not smooth. Unless it is just the reflection of the speed but it didnt seem stable at all. On top of that, the NOISE. Wow. And some clanking noise too. It sounds like maybe the paddle against the bowl. I agree with Eric that it really did seem like it was going to fling itself off.
Oh dear. It hasn’t even mixed anything yet and I’m already a little disappointed. :( A mixer in that price range should sound and feel smooth, if that makes sense. That rattling and clacking noise is just awful. I don’t like it at all. I do have to say that I do like the idea of the quick-release attachments though. Sometimes it can get hard to get the beater off on my KitchenAid when mixing a thick dough because I have difficulty twisting it. The straight down is cool. Whether it works in theory or not we’ll soon see. You have also reinforced my concern about the bowl lifting mechanism. I myself also often have a dirty hand or am holding ingredients, so I love being able to use one hand to lift the bowl on my KitchenAid. I am glad to see that it is possible to do on this machine at least (although it wasn’t full of ingredients yet), but I’m worried that doing it with one hand could put strain on the mechanism that it wasn’t designed for. I can’t come to any conclusions yet though. Hopefully the next videos will be more promising.
I think if you're whipping something with the whip, it "should" make less noise. Obviously, you'd never use the paddle at Warp 11 to mix up some cookies or batter. This was just a demo. We'll see how it performs in Amy's standard test. But yes, it did rattle a bunch. Not a fan of that quick connect/disconnect. Needs a KA spring in there somewhere to put downward pressure on the paddle.
I could see the bowl lift/lower being an issue with dirty hands. Or greasy hands. And for those with RA or connective tissue disorders or any other disability, I can see if being a huge issue. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and have a KA 6qt pro and 5 qt tilt head. The handle on the 6 qt is easy for me to use. The bowl on this one seems pretty similar to the KA 6 qt. Set the side things on the pegs and push down.
Great video Amy i just have one question have you triend the kenwood kitchen chef with the scale bowl and cooking features. And just a friendly note as i use Vorwerk thermomix or Bimby thermomix depending where your from arent really that good the motor is pretty weak the cooking feature is really cool tho best regards
so going on your current demo..... i wish they'd come out with a STANDARD mixer... like a regular tilt head or one without the fancy app doodads and see what the pricepoint would be. i have yet to see proper competition for KA like it you simply want something solid and good and don't care about having a brand name.
I just got a Breville smart oven air fryer pro and fortunately I don't need an app to operate it. Breville has an app I can add to my phone for recipes, etc. but the only thing I use my phone for is to make calls and the occasional text with. Cortana claims I can add the "app" to my desktop but I have to install something else first, so instead of doing that I'll just use youtube to look up recipes for it, lol. I'm kind of like you wondering why I'd need my phone to turn something on when I'm going to be standing right there using it and don't want flour, dough or other stuff getting on the phone. Tip: If you don't want to lay it on its side to take it out of the box simply cut down one side of the box then slide it out upright.
personally, i DESPISE the trend to not include a proper manual, or even a small recipe book. that is my largest gripe with my instapot pressure cooker. and you go "oh, well just go online. :P". YEAH. ABOUT THAT. i want a recipe for gddamn RICE. you go on their dumb site and there's a bunch of versions, different. and it's like.... "it's PLAIN RICE!!" i just need the recipe the mfg says works! why are there different ones???? IF they had included a paper manual, simple stuff like that, like a "getting started" would have been there. now they have complicated life. it makes me so mad. all to save a few cents on paper, at the expense of customer experience. a big middle finger to that.
Very true. I've read that a lot of people who have the new Kenwood Chef Bakers (not available in North America) have gotten error codes on the screen, and the mixer won't work due to that. How often do we replace a computer or phone??
I REALLY don't like the way the mixing attachments fit. It looks like a fiddly exercise that will get in the way of using it. The bowl doesn't lower enough to provide access.
The attachments connect. Kinda funky. But the noise it makes is not an even trade for all the extra rattling noise. That bowl not lowering enough. That's another issue. 🙂
@CShannon1991 That thing has to have multiple computer chips which will eventually fail....then it's a boat anchor. I've got a 2-year-old $2,000 convection oven out of warranty with a bad computer board. $1500 to fix, newer model on sale for $1499.00. A Kitchenaid mixer can be repaired/refurbished by anyone with minimal mechanical skills...even older models.
@@anderander5662Thank You for the info. I’m glad I stuck to my guns and stuck with a KitchenAid when it comes to a Mixer. Also, we should all know an expert in repairing KitchenAid Mixers, Mr.Mixer.
Very possible. I've read that the new Kenwood Baker mixers in Europe sometimes have error codes that prevent the mixer from working. How much to get it fixed? How long? And we all know how long the average computer lasts until it starts having trouble.
Buttttttttttt......When it does work, you can tell Alexa to fire up your mixer and sync the GE Profile oven (if you have one) to turn on when the cookie dough is done. Seems fair to me, right? But yes, boat anchor. This thing weighs about the same as my outdoor umbrella stand.

Im soo sorry i just saw you even had it on display in the back how are you pleased with it
I like it. The one I have doesn't have an integrated scale. It is the prior model.

So, if GE Profile can make a 'regular' mixer..... Well, GE Profile is their upscale brand, so you know the price is bloated a bit.

I am not sure. I haven't had that issue. Is the paddle fully locked in? I would contact the company and submit it as a warranty claim.

Not for me. I believe in simple things.
$1200 original msrp doesn't mean simple, by no means. I agree with you.
Not for me either.
KitchenAid is THE ONE!!

On the king author website this is only 500 dollars,if people wants to buy it,that is where I got mine
Do you like it? Looking for a mixing that's sturdy for bread dough.
never heard of it...dont like GE anyway
It sounds wonderful but I have to wonder why they made it look like a cheap Chinese piece of garbage. I wouldn't want that on my counter, it's ugly.
