I got out of BMX riding 30 years ago after my diamond back got stolen. These new bikes are sketchy to me now that I finally bought another BMX about a month ago. According to you, my bike is too big for me, but honestly, it is too small for it to be stable. All I do is loop out! Honestly, I like the old school geometry much better than that of today. That's what I grew up to, and that is what I am used to.

I agree that the frame geometry is one of the factor, I also just got back in riding and I used to ride 20" - 20.5 in the past,
by the time I got back I did tried a 20.7 top tube with a 12.8 chainstay, it feels weird and then I got my self a 20" toptube with a 13" chainstay and gained my confidence back... geometry really is a factor

We up here in the NW typically recommend 21.5 for getting back into it, to compensate for the short back end. going from 15 to 13 on the rear end is a nightmare. Otherwise S&M and Credence frames have 14.2 back ends and they feel amazing for the old dawgs like me.

I think this should work for me, cause most of the time my feet leave the pedals, even with my vans shoes.

I’m 5’10” and just getting back into riding @ 52. I actually did faceplant over the handlebars of my Redline Asset 24. My stance was definitely with my weight on my bars. Will taller bars help?

Bike geometry kicks but these days I wish my bike had these specs back when. Definitely would have helped progression
