Seems more and more Rolex ridiculous high prices are more about the name than anything else….…I hope reviews like this will contribute to knocking them off their pedestal.
I’m wearing the exact same San Martin on my 7 1/2” wrist. And yes, the blue on the SM is richer and more vibrant than my 41dj. The smaller size does look more elegant and dressy. Once you wear a smaller watch for a while you get used to it and it doesn’t seem small anymore. Btw I found out that the Pelagos 39 has a problem with the hands not being very well lumed compared to the indices and bezel-so close but now off my radar. Keep up the great content Ed!😎
I like the honesty in your videos on the date just. Your unboxing was very honest and vulnerable about why you bought the rolex and this one was honest about look and feel versus good homages. You are one of the least polished watch guys on you tube but you get to the honest heart of watch collecting. Don't change a thing.
Man, I bought mine at the beginning of the year and I’m really happy with it overall, but my bracelet only has three parts instead of the original five, if you know what I mean. It’s kind of disappointing because this newer version looks so much more refined. And it’s a shame you can’t buy the updated bracelet separately yet.
The bezel is the real tell. The bezel on the san martin doesnt even seem close but other than that seems pretty close. I just wish san martin would changed their logo.
Thanks for the comparison video. That was a cool trick about putting the watch on upside down first. It’s cool that you can get the experience first with the San Martin. Then you know if you want to spend the money on the Rolex. Greatly appreciated.
I put it like this David it's close enough for government paperwork without actually removing everything and measuring it optically it's close enough or let me put it another way I had never noticed nor really paid attention to any differences and still really don't see any having looked at it closely since you asked
Great comparison.. and nice trio. No problem with blue dials in terms of manufacturing fyi. It is only the ceramic bezel insert for the GMT pepsi ONLY.
This really convinced me ordering a 36mm San Martin just for trying on on my 7 1/4 wrist. Since I'm a pretty, I never even thought about a 36mm watch and just went with 40-41mm.
I fully understand when I first got into watches 2 years ago a quickly got established in my mind that 40 mm was the minimum size that I should do but then I learned historically 36 mm used to be the man size and to be perfectly honest I now enjoy the 36 mm weigh more than all of my 40 mm watches and for reference my wrist is 7 inches
@@mr.eswatchreviews oh. By the way. We texted before regarding the ginault diver. I wrote to them asking if i could get one without all the text on the dial. I’m gonna wait and see what some of their next versions look like.
It is getting tougher to justify the incredible price gap between top-notch microbrands and luxury brands. That said, luxury brands, like Rolex, do offer incredible heritage, better overall quality for those who appreciate, prestige (for those who desire), and a much safer opportunity to maintain value ( if you're lucky increase). The other thing a luxury brand may do is to boost one's feelings of accomplishment. Bottom line, as you pay more for a watch, the law of diminishing returns kicks in. Are these watches worth it? For some yes, others no. It is as individual of a choice as most other things in life. One thing is for sure, many microbrands offer killer watches for a far far better value proposition.
All of these have a flat Crystal with a cyclops for the date as far as why in protrudes above the bezel I do not know why they do it like that my guess on the Rolex would be to protect the white gold fluted bezel has a sapphire cheaper to replace
@@mr.eswatchreviews i see because the san martin have a raised crystal whereas the rolex have flat so maybe the san martin raised it to protect the fluted bezel am i right?

Thanks Mr. E for making this comparison video, its so good that i purchased the san martin SN0059 in blue mop dial and im very impressed. It almost feels like a rolex in hand without the rolex price tag. The finishing and the dials are all perfect for the price couldnt find a reason to complain.

Hey Ed, congrats on the Rolex, beautiful watch. I finally got my Speedmaster and was able to compare it to my Ginault. Movement aside, the build quality, fit and finish, of the Ginault holds up very well to the Speedmaster. However, the movement on the Speedmaster is on a whole other level. Pictures don’t do it justice. I was in the Tag Heuer shop in the mall of Asia with my Ginault on and I have to say, my Ginault was better quality than those watches, looked better too. Can’t be happier with my Ginault.
Your Ginault has a movement that can be serviced and regulated by any watchmaker on Earth. You can drop your Ginault off at your local watchmaker on monday and pick it up after a week and it will be serviced and regulated for not much money. And your Omega? You will have to ship it and wait a few months for it to arrive back and you will spend a lot more money. Is it worth it? Well, that is up to you. Ginault is a value packed watch. Your Omega isn't. Because that movement is still a mass produced, machine made, machine assembled and machine decorated movement.
@@kresimirpleic I can say that after owning both for a little while. The only time I don’t have my Omega on is when I’m at work and then it’s a cheap pagani quartz chronograph. Yes, the movement is still machine made but it is still 10x better. And, after owning both watches for a while, the overall build quality of the Omega is simply better.

@@jackthomas6952 yeah Jack I mean when you compare the difference in price the disparity between the two is definitely not enough in the sense those two brands actually offer several of their watches with sw200 again that is if it's a real SW 200 but the overall look feel and finish is extremely similar

true
Do you think what is the best Aliexpress watch 36mm or 37mm? I want to hear your thoughts
The SM on the left looks nice but all homages fail in proportions, date wheel, quality finishes and so on.
Ginault plays on another level, of course.
this is not true, and in some cases the homage out does the OG in finishing. There are videos of macro shots on YT that prove this
Yeah. The proportion between dial-indices and bezel are just isnt as good as the original. But the 40mm sm’s sn058 is a very stisfying watch
