SG’s planning especially the urban planning takes a very long term (30-50 yrs) & holistic approach coordinating all the 16 govt agencies ( population, public utilities, land transports, housing development , commercial property needs, fire safety, environmental, parks & recreation, healthcare, schools / education, etc, ). Our latest upcoming is the Changi Airport Terminal 5 which is going to be size of current T1 - T4 combined. There will be a new reclaimed Long Island at the Easter coast parallel to current East Coast Road.

3:24 yeah, that's accurately correct. Usually we would just tell other where we live based off the nearest MRT line.

Our government did not decide where we live we choose where ( which part of yhe island) we live. We can live freely any where in the island depends our needs ( study or work).

but they decide which plot of land is set aside for residential use. so they are better able to determine the potential demand for MRT if they were to build it at certain area.

As 85 per cent of Singaporeans live in public housing (of which 90 per cent as owners for 99 years, i.e. similar to leasehold principle), i.e. Housing Development Board (HDB) flats, and as the state determines where new (satellite) towns, of which there are roughly 25 now, are built, the authorities set a framework from within choices about where to live can be made.

Welcome back to Singapore anytime, but be sure to check out the places and even off-shore islands further away from the city centre, preferably by MRT. You’ll find lots more inexpensive food and things to do away from the usual “tourist traps”!

Singapore’s public school system is largely funded at a national level, not district. The country is small enough for that to be feasible, I guess. Primary & Secondary school fees are subsidised for citizens, especially so in public schools.
There’s much more to it, of course, but as a result, while there are definitely schools that are more popular than others (and perceived as ‘good’ or ‘better’ schools, they all still have to follow an overall syllabus decided upon by the Ministry of Education.
NewWater is clean, potable water created by passing cleaned sewage water through a reverse osmosis process which produces ultra-clean water. It’s as safe and clean as any other drinkable water (supposedly even more so, actually), as long as you don’t think too hard about where it came from LOL.

    • @rais1953
      @rais1953 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

The US model of locally funded schools makes no sense. It guarantees underfunding of education in poor areas. In Australia public schools are funded at state level and this is topped up by Federal subsidies. Private schools also receive Federal subsidies. This is uneven, giving some very rich private schools public funding they don't need but most private schools are low fee schools attended by children from families on average incomes.

Singapore doesn't have a problem of people abandoning towns because we're too small to have that happen. There are almost no part of the country that's rural land, besides land that has been designated to be farm land, nature reserves or for military use.
The population density map in the video is actually wrong.
Another thing about moving people from cars to bikes is that the weather is very hot and humid most of the time. When it's not hot and humid it is raining lol.

Thank you for the insight on our little red dot. I am glad we are able to set example for many cities around the world to follow. Singapore is always changing on a daily basis. Hence the cost of living also goes up as well. However l also wish that our gov will start to focus on how to cool down the city’s constant global climate. Anyways, do visit Singapore soon. Welcome 🙏

Nope the gov dun decide where we live. We decide where to live based on our needs and wants and financially stable. Bt wherever we stay, it’s accessible esp with our public transport and facilities like schs and shops are easily access as well. Each neighbourhood have a mini mall.

Countries with more space available and poorer public transport systems would have trouble convincing the voters. As a pensioner in a Perth suburb I would not be able to afford a car. I could get to the mosque and the shops but wouldn't be able to pick up my grandsons from school.

I think it’s more important to provide housing and infrastructure for humans than having forests and mangroves and have its people live in the bushes and slums😮. Singapore is safe and its people not confused about gender or race and the people have jobs and pay their taxes to ensure their people are well taken care. What happened to those big countries where homeless are rife and education is not helping its people and the people are talking about rubbish like sustainability and its people are not even surviving.

@3:05 - hahahaha when i heard that, im pretty sure there's gonna be a lot of comments here stating that no, the government doesn't decide where people should live. But yes, just to be clear, it should be rephrased to, the government sets aside land to be residential areas for homes to be built upon. But truly, it's pretty obvious so honestly, if i was editing this video, i'd simply leave that comment out as its unnecessary. xD

Do come visit the newly renovated terminal 2. It should be safe to stay in hostels or capsule hotels. I hate wasting money on hotels when i only need d bed. Esp in china, out at 5am to look for aunties to dance with ( alone) n follow them to market. Do a visa run here n back to china. Ps crocs r wild here as r pigs n chickens. 1 migrant worker is in trouble for strangling a wild jungle fowl thinking it's a chicken!

i would say singapore is pretty much the same as china, law and restrictions is what makes a good country... for exp.... singapore is restricted to only have one car per family...this is to avoid heavy traffic jams, u have to get marry to have a government house, and they choose the location for you... so many street law such trash....u dont see it becasue the penalty is heavy same for chewing gums...u cant even buy them in singapore... well in general singapore is good country... but living there is not good at all
