Two shifters allow one engine to be shut down for less power, or if there's a mechanical problem. Both outputs go to one transfer box, then to a limited slip diff driving both rear wheels. As for fitting an R1 engine into the front, check out the videos of the ProMotive conversion.
gota say im in to my 4x4s, but if i was to fet a car, i would get one of these, !!! i love these cars, i live in thurnscoe so will keep an eye out and as for a spin in the passenger seat lol.
Z cars commonly do hayabusa conversions in various cars now, but this video was uploaded in 2007 and the car is even older than that I think, meaning it's about a decade ago. The R1 fits easily into the mini frame, the Hayabusa motor not so easily so it took a bit of time to work out properly I suppose. They now have a full rear subframe for busa motor.
@MIXMASTAPWN Well, ne needs to make a RACE lever which he fits over the stock levers to merge them into one. Then when he wants only one engine, take off the race lever and use them individually.
This is the car that made me get into Mini's. It was in Miniworld about 5 years ago. I think it cost £35000 to build. It looks a bit light at the front.
Imagine the face of people unloading their porsche, lambos or track car and then spot you drive up in this mini. now imagine their face when it runs circles around their +100k euro cars
I saw that part but my thing was that the shifter is two stalks... but who operates two wheels separately? That was what I meant about the welding of the shifters. Still allows the engines to run independently but synchronized under load
Maybe I'm missing something. I understand running one engine for efficiency. There are two transmissions correct, but they only drive one wheel each? One wheel drive? Is that correct? How does it feel. Other than that-cool car! On this car and the Smart cars these motorcycle engines are mounted in the rear (due to limited space). Can these motorcycle engines be mounted in the front (when space permits)?
i assume that this car have way too soft suspenshion setup in order to compensate great power from both engine... -envy the driver can enjoy the xcitement..
why doesn't he just have the shifters welded together or just get one piece built. Also does he have a quickshifter fitted to the trans? This is badass though!
obviously did watch it (stupid thing to ask) thats because he would only use 1 engine on the road, while the other one is off, and also why he hasnt made the twin gear shifter into 1 fixed stick. and i would appreceate it if you didnt call me stupid.
Because this way you can run the car on only one engine if little torque is needed, and let the second engine off. If you run on one engine you have to let the second one on neutral.
@lickamish zcars make the hayabusa for minis aswell however this would be faster and the fact its a metal shell rather then a fiberglass shell over a spaceframe actually makes it a car not a kit.
this car has reverse ive seen it today at barnsley bike show look at my vid ......it is awesome when your at the side of it sounds mint got to say also the man who now ownes it made it look better than on this vid
yeah bike engines can be placed in front a mk indy kit car can be fitted with a honda fireblade engine fitted sideways check it out type in mk indy honda fireblade.
exactly, why not just use one lever? It makes no since to me to have them separate. I could see an issue if one was to get out of sync, it would take some linkage removal. But that would be more probable with two levers than with one. Odd
@myPETsnailFRED about 5350 pounds for the 1 engine kit, not including the engine 3252 more for the engine. k20 kit costs 5400 and 2000 with the engine (although it goes up a bit if u want Zcars 260bhp version of it). just google zcars, takes you right to their website
I should imagine its cos if one engine failed and you need the other one to get you "home"? A flick-catch holding them together would do the job just fine i'd think..
Mint bro hey up Wots the cost of all this as surely it's gota come at. A price for it all including the rad legal side of things aswell as road legal did u have to talk to some1 to take u through it whilst on the building process to make sure it will be roa legal when finished also wot country did this qualify to be road legal as I'm in new Zealand and have a nice big shed outback which could get some use into it
why does he bother having number plates on it. the law says no car with 2 engnes is allowed on the road, dont ask why, some other crap law theyve made up.
@lickamish i know what a space frame is i make them for a living. Im talking about the body work that fits over the space frame & comes off as 1 rather then panels. Im also saying the hayabusa minis r more kit cars where this car is all original metal. twin R1 engines have a greater power to weight ratio then the hayabusa minis & theres two this R1 engined mini wil be faster.
front end looks too light, cocking a front wheel up means only one steering front tyre on the ground. it looks quick like but it could be improved for cornering.
why not have one engine in the front and the other in the back so it will have awd and better weight ditribution. and wouldnt it be lighter to have one v8 instead of two 4 cyclinders.
Respond to this video... i wouldnt bother with the bike engine. they rev too high, too loud, have to be rear mounted & have no reverse which is pointless. Vtech minis r a lot nicer & controlled plus you get the fifth gear to allow cruising at high speeds
Reliability.... seen loads of 400 hp busa motors. Its easy to make one go bang tho. This setup would give similar power but be completely reliable. Also this setup would spread the load over both clutches rather than overloading one clutch which is a fairly common problem with the bike engine conversions unless a barnet lockup clutch is used. That said those clutches are not designed to move the sheer weight of a car. Also ....N/A power is a million times more fun than a turbo setup... no lag.
sorry, i know what i play. You may have a high ass rate but here in TX bike insurance is cheap as hell. When i was 16 it was expensive - 190 a month, but not anymore
Sir Alec Issigonis would have never imagined the weird creatures that will be created based on his original design.
Love how the voiceover says, "Listen to those engines," while blabbing on and cranking up the mindless pop-beat music. LET US HEAR THE CAR!!!
A V8 would be heavier but I think putting 2 1300cc busa engines in there would be awesome! 1 in the front & 1 back & make it AWD!
You gotta admire the engineering, I couldn't do it, but 'she a bit light in the front end, eh bro?'
Incredible still here!!!! March 2021 👍🙌😎😁

OMFG what a insane mini to drive.
What a hoot. That would just be a blast to drive. Who cares what it looks like, its just awesome.
gota say im in to my 4x4s, but if i was to fet a car, i would get one of these, !!! i love these cars, i live in thurnscoe so will keep an eye out and as for a spin in the passenger seat lol.
this looks amazing - I want one!
curborough sprint track, crazy, down the road from me haha!
Be nice to hear the thing and not fifth-rate electro-jizz

Unbelievable R1s are the best great job...
This is the greatest thing I've ever seen.
@MIXMASTAPWN

no dice mate, he gets on ma nerves. Fucking sweet mini though, pretty clever of them to put twin R1 engines in, that work as individual units.
Maybe I'm missing something. I understand running one engine for efficiency. There are two transmissions correct, but they only drive one wheel each? One wheel drive? Is that correct? Actually it sounds like Tiff Needell, and he fucking owns.
its about time the stig had his hands on it to see what it can really do!!
maybe not weld, but some form of latch, or lock...so that when need be he can change them individually.
i assume that this car have way too soft suspenshion setup in order to compensate great power from both engine...
-envy the driver can enjoy the xcitement..
No Its two wheel drive, As the commentary says the two engine are linked together, with one output to the rear wheels
why doesn't he just have the shifters welded together or just get one piece built. Also does he have a quickshifter fitted to the trans? This is badass though!

so sick!
they also make a special bike reverse mgear box to accomadate.
@lickamish

whoever owns this should get it in top gear lol
get it round the track and see where it comes against the supercars

yeah nice coat mate.....
maybe online one engine has been fitted with electric reverse for why they aint beel welded together?
why now AWD ?
Why not just bolt the two shifters together?
I thought that but maybe you might want to shift one into neutral if you had to shut it down and drive back to the pits on one engine.
i have almost finished mine total cost is around 17k for me but you could save mony by shoppin around
@MrOlireeves well obviously from the lap times it murders the vetch Honda powered minis so i think it does the job
he should have put a removable pin in the gear sticks so you couldnt fuck the changes up if you tried
How about a Heyabusa engine with a big bore racing kit and a turbo?
We always need some Nippon's engine from bikes to built something fun!
Try to put a Triumph (bike) engine on this Minicooper it will be awful...:)
This car is currently for sale on pistonheads. Must be awesome.
shouldnt there be a locking system for both of them? for when both engines are in use. a small catch or something? :/
insurance on a bike is cheap as hell. I, 21, can get a Harley night rod edition insured for $98 a month. A hayabusa for $85
why does he bother having number plates on it. the law says no car with 2 engnes is allowed on the road, dont ask why, some other crap law theyve made up.

I LIKE TURTLES
front end looks too light, cocking a front wheel up means only one steering front tyre on the ground. it looks quick like but it could be improved for cornering.
Cos this will still go round corners as it is a hell of a lot lighter.
if thats two r1's bolted togetherdoes that mean its a flat 8?
what parts of the body do you have to strengthen when doing and r1 project? surely the body get stress cracks?
wow
they do that in allfucking car programs does my fucking head in aswell!
wow.
Put it on top gear!!!!!!!!!!!!
x
y dont they just weld the gear levers together?
why doesnt he just weld both the gear sticks together?

@minimotocrosserracer Ur building a zcar mini? if your building it, it wouldn't be a zcar mini would it
where i live motorcyles do not have to be insured at all...
Wouldnt wanna hit something in that, sounds awesome tho- even better if that shite music was shut up !!!
3:47 steering???
OMFG!
any chance this may be road legal in nz
and any clue to cost of all this
how much does it cost to have zcars put a bike engine in it?
i cant believe that comentator lol!
Respond to this video...

i wanna know how the mesh box works
autograss cars have two engines
nah
its 2 r1 engines and gearboxes side by side
Why 2 R1 engines?? makes no sense to me at all. why not turbo charge a 1300 gsxr engine and easy get 400-500hp
Reliability.... seen loads of 400 hp busa motors. Its easy to make one go bang tho.

really so your dads mini back in 1978 could do a quarter mile faster than a r1? i dont think so matey
WTF music?!?!?
Space suit!...
would be more impressivw awd
think about that...that would completely not work. you would have one set of wheels spinning at a different rate than the others.
should have done one each end so 4 wd not just rwd.
WHERE!!!
top speed?
but whats the 0-60
is for sale on ebay just found it
That looks about as unstable as my wife :)
i want it ! :-|
That driver is a BOZO. I thought he was going to bin it. A few too many pints for lunch??
Gay music
Gay commentary
