They learn their lesson with unity and then forget it, and then they act like they're learning it with Mirage by going back to a more simple style, but then they start making 11 other games at the same time. I don't get this company.

What, you don't think a company rumored to be in serious financial trouble should throw as many darts against the wall as possible and assume that people are just going to love whatever they do because it has the Assassin's Creed name on the box? Pffft. I mean, it's not like they're so convinced that people will love Skull & Bones even after its meme-level delays and rumors that they'll just go ahead and start making a Black Flag remake, or anything!

    • @DegenerateJay
      @DegenerateJay  ปีที่แล้ว +17

It's crazy how they could have printed money by just making a Black Flag sequel instead of Skull and Bones but dropped the ball hard on it. They could have even done a spin-off multiplayer game or experience for their little microtransaction fest and people would have bought it. But no... they know better than you and I...

@@mohammadashikurrahman7530 don’t think yearly releases is a good idea, this could lead to franchise fatigue and stagnation, along with games potentially getting rushed.
I’d rather see quality over quantity, and it is not the best idea for Ubisoft to lay all their eggs into one basket.
And it is clear Ubisoft may not have learned from Unity.

@@mohammadashikurrahman7530 nah I believe pumping out games like this and not giving anymore time is gonna result in them plateauing in some way. I have seen this happen with other games like Need For Speed where each game seems to improve upon something but is a step backwards in another part.
And I don’t believe Red and Hexe have been in development for that long, I mean wasn’t Hexe in the concept stage when it was first announced? And Red might have some trouble behind the scenes and the studio working on it has dealt with a exodus of employees due to the fear culture caused by the director’s presence. I also have some other concerns such as the rumours that one of the protagonists is an African Shinobi, I have a reason to believe that they put this character for diversity reasons, this is the same team that worked on Syndicate which had a transgender character and their reason was for “diversity and inclusion” or something like that. And I heard the portrayal of the Persians in Odyssey is very historically inaccurate that they might have watched 300 instead of doing actual research.
Pumping out yearly releases is how Unity had a buggy launch in the beginning, even the story felt rushed, and it looks like they are going back to those releases.

Where is your evidence that those two games have been in development for awhile?
But not every game face issues when in development.
AC is BASED on actual history, and how am I out of touch? Just look it up, there are people who criticized the unfaithful portrayal of the Persians in this game and western media in general.
And yeah, those games were only good because that was before Ubisoft started going downhill. Also, 3 was actually rushed in a way.
And I don’t understand what you mean by diversifying AC.

@@mohammadashikurrahman7530 you sure it doesn’t start after the DLCs get released? Even if Red is Taking longer, you still got to keep in mind there has been trouble behind the scenes as the studio working on it dealt with an exodus of devs, and they may be pushing it back because of that.
And you got to keep in mind, Legion went through internal delays because the play as anyone gimmick was a headache for the devs, and the public delay was caused by GR: Breakpoint. All those delays and the game still turned out to be a disappointment, I don’t want to hear anything about the pandemic because they were heading in this direction with the games before the pandemic.
We don’t know what is going on with Hexe either, I still don’t have a good feeling about that one because it could potentially be another generic modern Ubisoft game, and could have writing that is a downgrade from the older games.
Is rewriting another country’s history in a way that pushes propaganda by portraying them in a way they weren’t back then considered mixed fiction?
Unity was broken because it was rushed, and it was rushed because the higher ups wanted to push out the games yearly instead of giving more time, and now they seem to be going back to yearly releases. This ain’t gonna end well.
If you want to know how 3 was rushed, Google is free.
I don’t remember saying it was a bad idea to diversify the franchise with these different types of games. I think you may have gotten mixed up with something else.

The series used to have a distinct identity & an actual end goal in mind, but once the money started flooding in overtime game after game Ubisoft changed studio heads & after a lot of other general creative staff turnovers later, they scrapped all of their original plans for an ending to the franchise & now this franchise has now dragged on for soo long eventually the Studio has just lost all ambitions to make actual AC Games & turned it into *THE GOAT FRANCHISE* for all of the different game ideas & pitches that were made with original IP’s in mind that Ubisoft just had absolutely no faith would sell if it was it’s own brand new IP’s so they just *SLAPPED THE ASSASSIN’S CREED LABEL ONTO IT* & called it a day.
Only now after the public reception for their upcoming financial blunder called Skull & Bones has completely plummeted Ubisoft has now completely lost faith in anything & everything that isn’t Assassin’s Creed will sell so they’ve completely jumped the shark all the way up into sun by turning everything they’ve been pitched from these past several years into Assassin’s Creed projects..

It's been four days, so far, and (so far as I know) no word from Ubisoft. It seems rather convenient for them to leak an AC4 remake right before "patching" a game that worked really well before.

So really there are only a few titles on this list that I will even care about. As long as the development teams are independent and large enough it won't affect me. I am also fine with short tight AC games and large open world AC games. You can have both.

The one reason that I don’t mind them planning to have titles come out annually is because consoles just keep becoming obsolete too quickly relative to how freaking long it takes to make a series game nowadays.
For example, with the Arkham Franchise, there were three (awesome) games in the series that released on PS3, when PS4 stopped being the main system, it had only one (also awesome) original Arkham game that you could play it on. Sure there were the remakes of Asylum and City, but I already had those and the remakes were kind of just half-@$$ed and painted over and not really worth buying. Also Suicide Squad is not an Arkham game, it just takes place in Arkham’s universe. And Gotham Knights was a lousy game with even lousier versions of the characters we love.
Another example, Offline(aka permanently playable) Fallout and Skyrim games on XBox 360 vs XBox One. There were three original Elder Scrolls games and 2 original Fallout Games on the prior generation, all good in their own right. In the next console generation there has been only one original offline Fallout game. Skyrim got a fantastic deluxe remaster, but that was it. Unless they make fully functional offline versions of ESO and Fallout 76, with any and all events revisit-able in-game, those games will not count for jack, seeing as they will stay MMOs doomed to die.
As stupid as it sounds, them making 8 AC games in 8 years will at least ensure that you are not buying a new console every decade just for one new game. Now, the games probably won’t be perfect and massive and will probably need to recycle engines, but I would rather play Assassin’s Creed Rogue and Assassin’s Creed III over Assassin’s Creed Valhalla any day of the week.
The only really big expansive game worth taking up a quarter of my 2 Terabyte Hard Drive is Red Dead Redemption 2. It doesn’t take you an hour just to kill a named character, has been constantly and lovingly improved with attention to detail, and overall doesn’t cripple your thumbs.

Note that Ys 9 came out just a couple of years ago and had you doing parkour in an Italian styled city like AC2/Brotherhood.
But somehow, an Action JRPG doing these concepts over a decade later feels fresh.

    "What is Assassin's Creed?" ?
Look, i love the franchise. I love the ideas behind it and the historical setting. But that story ended when Desmond was killed off. Assassin's Creed was over at that moment. Done. Dead.
Everything after it has been a self-contained Simpson's episode with varying levels of quality. Origins was a masterpiece that came close to capturing what the legacy (1-3) games did but it had no modern day story, it had more RPG elements than story to talk of. It felt like a very immersive and high quality simulation of how Bayek did his duties as a Medjai in ancient Egypt. And that was totally fine! But it wasn't the same thing as looking to uncover the secrets of an ancient civilization to save the world in the modern day, all the while there is an ancient order of templars doing the same both in that past and present trying to stop you all the while there is a goddamn power struggle in the past that the ancestor has to deal with. That shit was filled with history and intrigue! It is mostly gone now.
What is Assassin's Creed? It's a yearly franchise now. Think Call of Duty.
