I mentioned it on Twitter but for those who do not follow me I recently had to reformat my PC which made me lose progress on some extra stuff that Vadim sent me over Skype some time ago since I had the main voiceover done. The German version is the one with the worst censorship in terms of gore... They never released an uncut patch on steam but the Android and iOS version have all the nice gore and rampages (but you cannot hit peds who lay on the ground with melee weapons)

i truly have no idea why they decided to censor blood that much. In anime and japanese movies in general they actually use too much blood to the point that it's comical, so i really dont know why they did this tbh.

Diaz has nothing to do with those Candy Suxxx/kitten photos and posters in the mansion. All of those appear after comleting Movie Studio asset mission Martha's Mug Shot. They are not there when Diaz owns the mansion. Interior of the building becomes messier along with progression of the game. When Diaz is the owner the place is clean but it got vandalized after Shakedown, and more garbage appears after certain missions like RC-copter after Demolition Man or multiple shopping and trashbags after G-Spotlight.
Someone made around GTAForums that they adapted the Japanese version’s changes into the Worldwide game without censoring it and added stuff that was left out in the final game. It’s called Updated SCM for Vice City.
Does the updated scm change the looks of the Vercetti gang to Vercetti Yakuza? And is Candy's stretch unobtainable? Is the photos of Candy in Diaz's mansion changed to kittens?

I would like to point out that the cutscenes for "Martha’s Mug Shot" and "G-Spotlight" were also censored in the exact same way for the Australian release, though the spotlight image at the end of the latter is uncensored, unlike in Japan.
Hey, my Japanese isn’t fluent, but I’m sure I could help translate whatever it is you have! I’ve been learning for awhile, and use language exchange apps everyday to chat in Japanese. I absolutely love the language, and love using it. By the way, in Japan, ⭕️ is essentially like a check mark. It’s put on test to show you were correct, and basically is like a confirmation symbol. Whereas ❌ is negative, so I can see why the Japanese release would use a X for no and an O for yes
Plus, PS was influenced by Nintendo somewhat, since A and B buttons are swapped, that means PS controllers in Japan perform the same tasks as Nintendo controllers do. The most prominent influence for the controllers is Super Famicom(SNES for all non-Japanese people).
It seems weird to say blood was "nerfed" in one version. Usually I think of a nerf as making something less effective, or less useful to the player, but the amount of blood doesn't have anything to do with that.
To make something less effective you usually have to make a number smaller or lesser. Hence why they say the blood is nerfed. And also because having less blood just seems like a step down for a gta game that is already all about crime and criminals.
Speaking of release dates, it took San Andreas on PS2 THREE YEARS to be released in Japan. The PS3 was already on the market at that point! US: 26th October 2004 EU: 29th October 2004 JP: 25th January 2007
To all of those wondering, Japan doesn't threat foreign publishing game houses the same as their domestic counterparts and can make up any excuse to not include or expel content. "X" is negation all over the world as far as I know. edit: Why do you think Sony has the circle and X buttons? Designed specifically for affirmation/negation purposes in games. I find that very interesting that they censored blood so much in GTA Vice City for Japan, the country that also released Monster Hunter and had monsters gushing blood like a fountain on big hits.
You can self censor gore in GTAVC by changing the language to German. There's also a glitch where vehicles at Tommy's mansion turn gold. Unfortunately I have no clue how to actually make it happen. The Australian version has most of those candy parts removed and the ability to pick up hookers. But our PS4 version is the uncensored version which makes me happy because I hate censorship lol Haitian stuff and music were removed from all later versions of the game. Not censorship but the smoke grenade was removed from later versions because using it slowed the game down too much.
Actually those Candy picture appear after G-spotlight, I'm guessing those cat pictures do after this mission or are they all the time in Jappanese version

In my experience, Japan has historically let a lot of their media get extremely violent. Being a warrior culture for so long really made gore and blood pretty prevalent in their various entertainment mediums for a long time. I'm not saying it's wrong but that's what I have observed. So what's the deal? I looked up CERO which seems to be specifically an ESRB type of clone but for Japanese computer games. Were they just really hardcore about violence in particular? You can look in any young boy's shounen manga and see copious amounts of blood and bodies being twisted or cut in half so this is all very strange to me.
