  • In today's video I'll paint the Cavalier Marshall from the new Cities of Sigmar releases.
    This video will have a lot packed into it, so if you want to know why I painted the whole model violet, how I painted hair texture on a horse and 2 different styles of leather, how I painted the non metallic steel and gold as well as some vibrant reds with brush and airbrush, and a lot more, then get into the saddle and come along for the ride!

    Hey guys! As soon as I saw this model when it was revealed in one of the GW streams I just knew that I had to paint it. There is something about it that makes it irresistable, just like the Harbinger of Decay. Apparently, I have a thing for horsemen these days 😂. If you have any questions or comments, or if you are interested in some of the things I couldn't cram into this short video, please let me know.

    Wonderful scheme! I'm a sucker for anything purple and can't wait to use this as a basis for my Cities army!

    Oh, so nice! I should give the Airbrush glazing a chance. Your tips on the Infinity Models really elevated my game, so I'll steal this as well from you :P

      Feel free to steal it :) I am really enjoying this method now. It opens up so many possibilities!

    can I say something? Your painting got noticeably better over time and it is so nice and encouraging for all of us to see constant progress bravo!! This one is really beautiful and in my op. your best work to date.

      Thank you 😊 I also feel that I managed to elevate my game with this, but it is nice to hear from someone else as well 😀 That's one of the things I love about painting, the skill ceiling is almost infinitely high and there is always room to improve!

    This might be the nicest work that I've seen by you 👍

      Thank you 😊 I was really inspired by this model, and I tried out a lot of new things with it. I am quite proud of the end result, although as usual, I already see all the flaws and the things I want to improve on the next one 😂

    I love the idea of using purple as a shadow vut I can't help but feel that you covered it up. The final model looks good but the whole purple step seems unessential. Maybe it's just the medium of video that doesn't make it evident. Do you feel that it made any effect?

    • @ph3lansminiatures
      @ph3lansminiatures  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The idea was always to mostly cover it up. If you use black, you do the same. In the end, pure black is barely visible on the model, and that is the case here as well, although I left a bit more than if I had used black. If you look carefully, you can see it everywhere. In real life it is very obvious but I think you can easily spot it on the pictures and video as well in the deepest shadows between the rocks, on the NMM steel, the body of the horse, basically everywhere.
      I suppose you could do a much more whimsical style with crazy colors like craftworldstudio does on Instagram, but that was not my intention hers:) ( although it looks fantastic and I might try it one day )

    Very nice! Learning how to do animal skin now and im finding it tricky. I may need an airbrush for that end touch.

    @ph3lansminiatures When you say "very low pressure" for the close up airbrush glazing, how low are we talking?

    • @ph3lansminiatures
      @ph3lansminiatures  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Something like 20 psi or less. It depends on how thin the glaze is. If I want it to be very transparent, I use lower pressure and more thinner. If I need a bit more coverage, I add a bit more paint and slightly more pressure.

    what brushes do you use?

    • @ph3lansminiatures
      @ph3lansminiatures  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I use Rosemary & Co Series 33 brushes most of the time. I think for this project, I used them exclusively.

    Unfortunately, face looks basic. But good news - you are aware of problem, so im sure it only matter of time that from Achilles feet it going to be strong point in future. Great job.
