- In this video I have the 2023 Great Eight winning 1958 Chevrolet Custom Street Truck "ElCameo" ! Jim the owner of this truck sat down a few years back with His buddy Dave Kindig and they came up with the idea on building a truck that was never built. By the time the build was started Dave had become to busy to build it. Jim the owner of the truck after some time found the shop that built the truck for Him. It's started life as a Panel truck and is now a unibody pickup truck...The amount of work that was put into this build in incredible...The end result is absolutely mind blowing. In the interview I have with Jim the owner of the truck He covers the thought process of how they arrived at the final product. Obviously this truck was built to win awards...and it has...Several at this point. It's first show out it was one of the 2023 Great Eight winners at the 2023 Detroit Autorama. To even try to put this 1958 Chevrolet Custom Street Truck "Elcameo" into words is impossible...Even when the owner Jim is describing all that went into building makes Me tired to even think about...One very cool build the 1958 Chevrolet Custom Street Truck "Elcameo" 2023 Great Eight Winner..Check it out!!

Thank God they didn't put an LS in it. Absolutely needed a 348/409! Great truck. Looks like an Australian Ute! "the two utes'. "Excuse me did you say utes?" "What are utes?" LOL! My Cousin Vinnie.

"ElCameo" actually started out in 2012 as Smokie Ingram's idea, owner of Classical Gas in Cumming, Ga, it started with his sketches, design, and vision...all of Smokie's drawings delivered to Kindig about 2012 to preform a couple of 3/4 view and interior sketches. Top was chopped 1 1/4in thru the cap, not the glass, section was 2 7/8in, not 3 1/2in....just a couple of the over 40+ body modifications completed at Classical Gas before being delivered to Hot Rod Construction in 2018. True as Jim states, due to Smokies health issues (which he died from in 2021) the truck build was completed by HRC. Beautiful fit and finish on the completed truck. Great to see the truck finished out as it deserved to be.
Cool!
