I really like this year and model, my Father had a '66 Caprice 327/300h.p. 4bbl 2-speed Powerglide.... this car would look sharper with a pair of '66 Caprice taillights! That's all it needs. But if keeping it all original, it just fine.....
Absolutely love this car. I remember my Dad driving me around in his ‘66 when I was a little kid, his was stock but this one is the best I’ve seen. Absolute gem!!!!
I remember driving my new to me 66 SS 396 4 spd down Interstate 5 to Camp Pendleton back in 1971 after returning from my first overseas Marine Corps tour. 35 cents a gallon pump Premium fed the beast but enough room mates sharing the apartment rent let the low pay scale wages be workable. Not quite this fine but it was a runner for sure. On the open road and around town if you were adventurous. .
I always loved those big bodied Impalas, especially the '66 model. Would love to have one. This one is a gem of a black diamond. Love it. Godspeed on your recovery, my friend.
I had to watch this a couple of times. That paint is perfect.....the motor, the rims, just an amazing job. I have a 66 Chevelle and now I want an Impala!
I had a 1966 Impala wagon with a 427 425 eng. 4 spd, with a 3.55 posi. That was my sleeper when I was married. Got a divorce and she got the car, lol. Love your show, Scottie, I hope to see more.
I once saw a black '66 Caprice, black vinyl roof (not a fastback ), black interior, 427 with 4 on the floor which came out of the factory like that. Prettiest car I've ever seen!
I've must been seeing this video 100 times! That Impala is so awesome and Beautiful! 👌 Thank you very much for this video! Cheers from northern Sweden 🍻
That is no joke Scottie, make sure you take care of yourself, we need you to keep us on top of al the rides that are being built that we wouldn't get to appreciate if it wasn't for you. Feel better brother! Andrew, Brooklyn NY
Sure brings back a lot of memories. Boy I wish I still had my 66 Impala SS. 396 that I owned in 1974. White on White with a black vinyl top. Saw the exact model, same color at Barrett-Jackson last year.
Sorry to hear about you being in the hospital brother I will keep you in my prayers and thanks for an awesome video one of my favorite Chevys besides the 62 Nova and the 64 Impales
Thanks Scottie this Impala is Georgious. So slick and tight allot has been left original but changes as well. It's got a one and only Stance that 66 has Nailed for sure Wheels kill.
hope you get well and sorry to hear about health problems. grew up with one of these except she had a 327-300hp and factory gauge pack in center console with caprice tail light lenses and a 4- speed.
wow, buddy.sorry to hear about you being in the hospital. hope you feel better and you get back to work soon cause we all love your show. get wellsoon see ya thanks mike elcamino.
I've got one of the very very rarest of these. All original. It was a special order (COPO) my father ordered from Chevy waaaay back when. It is not a SS. Impala convertible with double rails and heavy duty anti sway bars. Black with white top. Tach in the dash. Bench seats with the pleated black naugahide. Engine was the 427. High HP version with mechanical lifters While advertised at 425 hp (due to NHTSA limits) it dyno'ed 458 right off the assembly line. I was there with my father when they tested it (Delaware assembly plant). Came with Holley 4 bbl double pumper, vacuum secondary -- model 4150. Had an Edelbrock, semi-high rise aluminum manifold. Dual snorkel air cleaner. Came with Muncy 4 on the floor. All black interior. I call it the thunder wagon because with regular mufflers (obviously dual exhaust) the rumble sounds like distant thunder. I had it pain stakingly and correctly restored and kept it straight factory with two minor changes. I had the steering box converted to close ratio and I had stainless steel fuel lines. Matching #'s all the way around. Engine was rebuilt. For final run through we had Grump Jenkins (anybody remember him?) do the valves. Floor pans replaced as well as fenders . Body work was welded, braised and filed, no bondo and filler - all metal. Had to buy a special set of files from a company in Brazil because we couldn't find them here in the US. Never been shown
Very nice stance and rim choice love the suttle touches and how they kept it very close to the stock look! Dude you always have the best cars on your channel, another gold star brother!!
WISH YOU A SPEEDY RECOVERY SCOTTIE. I HAD A 66 IMPALA BEFORE I WENT INTO THE ARMY MY PARENTS MOVED AND ASKED ME WHAT I WANTED TO DO WITH IT , I TOLD THEM TO SELL IT . WHAT A DUMMY! I LONG FOR THE DAY WHEN I CAN OWN ANOTHER ONE. THIS 66 IS THE PERFECT SET UP NOT A TRAILER QUEEN AND NOT A RAT ROD. THAT'S HOW I WOULD WANT MINE. MAN WHAT A BEAUTY!
KiTTeNChaoSS just finished a frame off on mine. 3 years . 427 with 2-4's hooked up to a rock crusher. I did change it to 4 wheel disk brakes. Less then 100 miles on the rebuild. A set of old school Cregers (15inch) tall rims are punk shit. Painted back to factory . And I added a heat shield to protect the starter. I've cooked more than a few.
thank you its a back yard build got a few videos on my you tube page under my name i usually build large scale models it a cool hobby its been a long time that i did this type of automotive work
What a beautiful job, fellas! Still shooting for the ‘66 SS Chevelle drivable restomod 1st, but now there’s a second ‘family heirloom car’ on the list?!
Such a beautiful car ! Take your time Healing we can do without a video a day Take a Fricken vacation your fan base will not go away Take care !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your getting better at this :)Beautiful car. I think the wheel offset deep rear shallow front looks odd. I also think with the slick style the vehicle should have been nearly silent running. Stealth bad ass is so under rated.
Really sweet ride! I love the paint! The only thing I would change is the rims, I'd swap those for some 13 inche Daytons and that's about it. What can I say I'm a lowrider type of guy haha!
My lifetime I’ve owned 2 -66 impala’s...back in the early 70’s you could pick one up for just a couple hundred dollars! In great condition... Drug dealers top pick according to high times magazine.🛠👀
Nice lines, I like it... hope you are back to feeling your best soon man.... and ffs take five and just chill for a while... while you recoupe' best wishes.
Forgot to comment on this......You hit me hard on this one. I have a very soft spot for Impalas. My first car was a 1967.....Ya got a '67 on here somewhere?
How much does a restoration like this cost from you guys from start to finish. If I find myself a mediocre body how much should I expect to spend you guys doin same exact mods to it?

Love the Impala, hate the tall rims. 10 x 15 Ralleys would have looked better.
Yes, that's what I had on my mine.
