It's quite amusing seeing foreigners views of Haiti when they already have a preconcieved fearful image of it. I've been there numerous times and have always felt safe. I honestly believe vloggers set up their videos with this allure of danger to make there videos seem more entertaining, but I couldnt help but question why I didnt see any of the dangerous experiences you encountered in any of the video. Also haiti is a top destination for the enlightened travelers who can see past the bad rep it recieves. Although it does have deep rooted political and economical turmoil, it is a beautiful place and a gem none the less.

  • @denn120
    @denn120 3 ปีที่แล้ว +54

I couldn't agree more with this video.
My father lived in Haiti for 4 years and every year would be completely different from the one before as on one hand you would see small developments like a new traffic light in Petionville but at the same time massive steps backwards like major protests about increasing fuel prices. But then you have the amazing beauty of Haitu outside of Port Au Prince. From small villages in the middle of the mountains to fishing towns like Gonaïves, the country is so diverse.
So, Haiti has its flaws and still has a lot of work to do, but even now Haiti is definitely worth a visit

      It's nothing new
Just check the majority of vloggers who go to the poor developing countries, they usually go out of their way to show the bad sides of the countries that way they can feel good about their lives and generate videos like this
As If this country needs more bad press
Not my intention to bring race but they are usually white 😂

I just spent a week in Port-au-Prince and also travelled with Serge, and I enjoyed my visit without any dramatic experiences. Thanks for your video!

Suddenly the situation turning bad? What? C'mon, when hasn't it been very bad in Haiti. It's like a Mad Max movie set in the Caribbean.

That was exactly the point of this propaganda

Let me just put this out of here: do you really think Haití is only port au prince? Haiti is the size of MA if i remember correctly. Yeah it’s sad that u experienced some traumatic moments well, it’s not like that only happens in Haiti. I hate when u do that. Situation in Haiti is not the greatest, is not the worst either. I think you should change the title because it’s bad propaganda and Haiti has so many nice places to visit. Please stop the BS. Haiti has so much to offer to the world! Thanks for visiting anyways.
PS.- if it’s only to grow the bad propaganda about Haiti, just don’t go but if instead, you want to say what the world doesn’t know about Haiti, and make them see three natural beauty of this place, please do that.

That would have been my comment as well a few years ago, but now we got a humanitarian crisis going on there. It’s a fact that no one is safe in Haiti currently. We need to do better, fast. ❤️🇭🇹

What was the name of the hotel you stayed at in the beginning of your video in Port-au-Prince?

I am sorry for what you had experienced there. The Ouest side of the country right now is not the best place to be.

Awesome video! If you are looking for an easy but beautiful country to visit right now, try Saint Lucia! You only require a negative test 5 days before travel to enter.

I don’t know, i may be disconnected from my culture but it don’t sit right with me if Haiti becomes a tourist spot in whatever near or far off future. Lot of the time tourist attractions mess up the economy and Haiti is a very special place to its people.
I think this video is interesting, despite my reservations. My mom who was born and raised in Haiti really liked the video and is excited for part two. In a way, she felt nostalgic seeing some of the places she used to frequent in her youth.
