When he talked about the weight to diabetes threshold it really resonated with me because I've noticed the same thing but for my blood pressure. It doesn't matter how healthy the food I eat is, if my weight goes past a certain point the BP shoots up. Knowing your own thresholds and not adhering to a diet dogma is good advice.

Just remember Dr. Sebi. He went to mexico to get healed. How? By common sense!! He was told he had to go back to the diet of his ancestors from Africa to heal, and he did!! I believe the diabetic gentleman may have African genes, so that could be his way to better health, by consuming the diet of his ancestors. Dr. Sebi explains it very well and he learned it from a mexican naturopath, a place where healing thru PLANTS is a no brainer and is common practice .

When it comes to carbability I would like to suggest Foxtail Millet, Kodo Millet, Little Millet, Barnyard Millet and Browntop Millet . Yes and tell us increase our protein intake as we age. Idk bout the UK but most Americans kidneys are already struggling from environmental and emotional and financial stress and don't work out nearly enough to stuff more protein down their throats. If anything they need to be fasting/incorporating periods of digestive rest so they can actually absorb the nutrition from their food. Telling a 50 year old woman going thru menopause just eat more protein (usually animal protein) is not the answer for everyone. There's multiple reports of people dying or almost dying or flaring up of other diseases from Doctors putting them on high protein diets cuz their kidneys couldn't handle it.

This resonates so strongly for me. I binge on potato chips and can't stop, no matter how much I know I shouldn't. It's not sticking to plant-based, or even low fat, UNTIL I feel like snacking and I reach for the chips, which undoes all the progress I've made. They are so unhealthy with salt and oil. So I've just realized my issue isn't just the T2, it's a binge eating problem as well.

What are the 80% less fat chips? Stress, mainly work stress, triggers me to grab chips and eat til the bag is gone. Would love to find a less demanding field to work in but financially, it's the only paycheck in the household so I'm stuck for now. I have no problem with sweets so that's never been an area of struggle for me. It's the salty crunchy. I've eliminated most all dairy (cheese on occasion) and I'm down to only 1 meat and that is chicken on occasion. Don't hate on me yet as I'm a work in progress. Being honest here...there are some REALLY MEAN vegans out there. I still can't get over one vegan girl's saying to me that I am "supporting queen bees being raped" if I use honey. On this idea of “carbability,” taking the fat out of your diet doesn’t immediately take the fat off the body. You have to eat fewer calories for some time before you lose body fat so that that all your cells aren’t stuffed with fat anymore. It’s the cells being plum-full of fat and being overweight that reduces your carbability. Taking the fat out of the diet just makes it harder to add fat to the body. A caloric deficit is still required to lose the fat that’s been put on the body decade after decade.
Continuously eating more calories than you need will ensure a person will never lose their bodyfat. The bodyfat has to be reduced to be able to properly handle carbohydrates and kill diabetes.

For Prevention reasons, I enjoy learning about health and wellness. AHA MOMENT! listening to this testimony of healing! Depending on how insulin resistant a person is will determine how quickly you can add certain foods to your diet. 1. Test your blood sugar with certain foods. 2. If high, don't eat those foods at this moment 3. For 90 days, focus on lots of vegetables, plantbased proteins, and lower level of carbs 4. Retest with that same meal including that high carb meal and see if you have healed enough to start adding in more OR if you need to continue a little longer healing your cells and it's relationship with insulin. BONUS: HIIT workouts, even applied to walking will help and EXERCISE In General consistently to conquer blood sugar issues. Spot on, Brother! It all comes down to figuring out what works for you, and to keep searching until you find what works for you. Having a desirable end in mind is all fine and good, but you also have to accept yourself in the here and now, and work with who you are in the present moment. As I long suspected, there are a lot of behavioral and psychological factors at play when attempting to pursue beneficial change. He's not the most eloquent person I have seen in the plant-based space, but he is by far the most intelligent and insightful.
The push-pull between stimulation and satiation--what makes you feel good versus what makes you feel full--that's what I think that I have been missing in my own quest for improved health. Once again, it all comes back to behavioral and psychological dimensions (and let's not forget those social, cultural and economic cues, too!).
    Once again, excellent work, PBN!

I'm only part way into his interesting interview, but he's exactly talking about me regarding the fact that I just DO NOT do well with adding truckloads of even quality carbs. My blood sugar skyrockets and the strict HCLF people tell me I'm imagining it or something. Despite being thin, I clearly have insulin resistance and cannot just jump 100% into eating 400 grams of carbs a day. I'm one of those unlucky people who have a very low weight threshold before becoming diabetic. I'm in the pre-diabetic range now carefully watching what little food I eat.

Modify it however you need To. even the best advice from practitioners don't work for every single person. Personally I reversed my hypoglycemia immediately on high fruit diet melons work great for my body. Other people, maybe they need to stick to blueberries or currents . Even with implementing fasting. A lot of people say break your fasts with proteins and fats. That won't work for me. My gallbladder cannot handle a lot of fats even plant based. Why would I break my fast with avocados. My gallbladder will not like that. I break my fast with melons and I feel great. The next person may need to do something completely different. Anyway keep your head up. It takes time to heal and maintain. Have fun, experiment and experience. You can do it. It's ok to make mistakes that's part of the ride. ❤

This is very helpful to hear. This is the diet that True North Health and Dr. Goldhammer and other doctors there teach. It’s strict but it works to reverse disease. Dr. Goldhammer calls it the Health promoting diet.

What about natives and tribes who lived and thrived off of bison, fish and seal?

Thanks for your story. Everybody should listen to how you explain the relationship between food and diabetes.
So many claim the carbs or the fats. But like you explain it it‘s a combination of low quality carbs and fats.
And great you talk about the individual level of insulin resistance and the connection to body fat.
You don‘t have to be vegan or vegetarian to use that wisdom.
I eat a low saturated fat low meat diet, basically the Mediterranean. I can agree to the principles you are explaining.
CRP is an inflammation marker though, not specific. Could mean that you have an infection, but it can also be related to arteriosclerosis, rheumatic diseases and cancers. It‘s not specific.
The vitamin D association was probably reverse causation. But I still take vitamin D in the winter.😅I don‘t get much sun.
I would have never thought you are a fellow ADHD brain. But hey, I know the struggle. Diet helps though. I hate though when people claim it developed due to poor dietary choices or bad education.
But it makes sense how you speak about stimulation. I do need to „spice up“ my household chores with music and need to stay away from overstimulation to be able to focus. Never applied that to food though🤔. I have to try that.
I hope to prevent diabetes, there has been cases on my mothers side of the family. So I‘m all ears.

Wow! Glad we could connect on this interview. You got this. My advice to everyone is double teh greens. Just do massive veg action. Honestly its a game-changer. In the interview Klaus asked me why it took so long. I got distracted, the main answer is ADHD. Its as simple as that. You have urges stronger than others and less capacity to control them. I thought I was messed up until I got diagnosed and did the research. It did not make it easier but it did make it possible. Good luck!

But have developed all kinds of joint pain, cravings, & fatigue that I've never had before. I have gained 15# and feel terrible. What effing gives? Must be too many grains, below ground veggies, beans, rice and potatoes.

Finally, someone is being honest and telling the truth! I’ve followed plain strong. I followed McDougall and Furman chef AJ, mastering diabetes, and they all perpetuate the big lie that you can eat as much food as you want. I can put away for cups of rice or six potatoes after a big salad and my blood sugar would reflect that, I am only 133 pounds. I exercise twice a day but my A1c is almost 8. I’ve been diabetic for 25 years and I couldn’t understand why the lowfat high carb diet dosent work for me.
So grateful to you for your honesty and the part about follow your meter or not the vegan influencers is brilliant! I’ll be following you from now on, but my meter comes first!❤❤❤

I think people are suggesting raw because the idea is that the food is to be eaten as it grows out of the ground. But we’re so clever that we’ve figured out how to mix and prepare our meals so that even an all-raw diet becomes hyper-palletable, making it impossible to stop eating before you’re stuffed.
When you stuff your belly with food - even the healthiest food - you will begin eating again as soon as there’s room in your stomach. Then before you know it, you’ve eaten too many calories to get rid of bodyfat.
Eating to satiation is the key. It’s just easier to stop eating before you’re stuffed if your food is eaten as it grows out of the ground - just the food. Not the food mixed with a million different things to make it more enjoyable. The food tastes good enough. If you’re overweight, and want to shed fat, consider eating all of your food plain without making it more enjoyable.
God was too good to us. The food is just never good enough for people. Now there’s raw chocolate. Overeating is a massive issue. Plain white potatoes are already tasty enough.
We’re not supposed to eat until we’re full - just until we’re no longer hungry. Now raw foodies are overweight; we play with our food too much.
Eat foods plain, let your tastebuds adapt, and use that extra time to lift some weight and go for a walk. It’s a fabulous life.
I know this video isn’t about losing bodyfat, I just never see anyone point this out in our plant community and it drives me nuts because once a person is on a healthy diet, the next problem is how to eat less. And no one addresses it.
If this comment has offended you, I apologize. It’s not my aim. This is just the first video I’ve watched since putting these thoughts together. Loving this video. Very useful content 🙏🏻

You are what you eat. Your diet impacts your health.
Lower stress, reduce obesity and more exercise are key to a healthy life.
Obesity in children and adults is rising across the world.
Fast food and sugary drinks are contributing to the problem of poor health and obesity.
Eat a healthy plant based diet and exercise regularly.
Reduce or ELIMINATE cows milk, eggs, cheese and meat. Eat more salad greens, beans, fruit and vegetables. Eliminate fast food, snacks like cookies, cakes, chips, and sugary drinks and juices.
Every adult and child should own a bicycle and ride it regularly.
Regular exercise will help you sleep better. Yoga is a great stress reducer.
Obesity is all too common today. Get off the couch. Get off the phone, ipad or video game.
A variety of stretching and other exercises help with increased mobility.
Ride to work, ride to school, ride for fun.
Every city should be a bicycle city.
Speak up for bicycles in your community
