BACKGROUND: On the 29th of September 2012 during Brooklands Museum's first Fly-in for nine years I was offered a chance to mount my Mini Go Pro HD camera on a visiting helicopter operated by Gary Savage Chief Flying Instructor at Heli Air of Fairoaks Airport. The video was very shaky due to it being a standard mounting (stabilised ones cost serious money), but despite this it does give a wonderful view of how the area continues to improve.

Thanks Gary. I gather Mercedes have gone all difficult so now we have to land the other side of the trees/river from you in the little patch of grass next to one of the planes. That’s progress!

Every time I see Brooklands as it is now I always picture it like it was in the 1960s :)

I noticed Conc sitting in the park still. You had a very busy day that day of the 29th mate. Great stuff. I didn't think the aircraft bit was so small, compared to the rest of the park. Never been there, looks like a fab place. Thanx for sharing the video , always good to see your stuff. Still waiting to see the lady at the end credits a bit more ;-)

Point taken, but the helicopter was up there for other reasons. I just got the chance to bolt a camera on. Perhaps next time we can do it to over the Museum area.
I would also like to make the observation that although MBW was not an ideal solution, they have been good to Brooklands. It does give a track you can see vintage cars going round on, during events and the remaining areas are going back to a ‘quality business park’ rather than the Warehouse / Distribution estate it was becoming!

Nice to see part of the old runway; now part of the childrens playground.

    Great video.
At 6:41 to 6:45 is that Procter & Gamble head office on bottom-left? "The Heights" office park?

A few more views of the Brooklands Museum and a few less views of Mercedes Benz World would have been better.

Visited ten years ago,the old garages and sheds were there ,and it was like stepping back in time.
Now with all the money spent, it is a modern Souless place with no character.Shame.
    Boring - like German cars.

Have to disagree, a lot of the outer area has gone it's true, but it was never going to survive in a 'starved of commercial land' area like Surrey anyway.
The Museum site however is largely as it was when Barnes Wallis retired from Vickers. The old workshops / Garages and club house still survive as well as the Stratospheric Chamber. As I write the the Finishing Straight is being restored to its original condition plus many of the aircraft created there and vehicle raced there have come home.
This Video does not show much of the Museum site, so please return to my channel and look at some of the other videos like th-cam.com/video/GbTFbPkAGCQ/w-d-xo.html or pay the museum a visit.
