They can frustrate your efforts am facing the same thing everytime they ask for payments upfront after paying them monthly for feeding my workers are ready to work but the farm manager is a thieve he actually sacked himself when asked to give account like you said you cant rely on them only God can help us in Nigeria i will also prefer machine but how do we get it and again who is going to operate them some workers are not ready to work but they want to collect money at the moment i have 3 workers on 5 acres and i keep sending my brothers to check up on them and i still have to pay them for fuel and food!!!

You are doing an awesome job. Challenges will always come but you have to deal with them and keep going on to continue in your success. I live in a farming area in Canada on a rural homestead. The farmers in my area hire workers from the Caribbean especially Jamaicans to work on their farms. They pay them weekly or every two weeks instead of monthly, this is an incentive to help them stay. A month is sometimes a long time for a person to wait to get paid depending on their financial situation. I hope this was helpful to you.

Transport is expensive; fertilizer is expensive; land clearing is X 4 the price; Climate change -raining season isn't reliable. I need to get drip irrigation in September. Luckily we got worker early on in the year and have a fixed agreement. On the other farm we use the villagers mostly women (Grandma,Mum and Teenagers) All these expenses will fall on the consumers once my product are ready for harvest.

Some of the workers are disingenuous, I planted Plantain and the weeds are everywhere I had to tell them to get it sorted. They wanted to kill my profit and my Plantain.If don't chase them they would have not done anything 😭They will also have the guts to ask for small money 😆 Sadly one has to be one their necks if not...the farm will fail they lack long term thinking

It is better to get seasonal workers from the North for operations like clearing and preparation of the land early in the year way before the onset of the rains. By May/June most of them would have left to fend for their own farms in the North since rain begins falling there in May.
