    I'm a beginner and this is the best weaving video I've seen. Thank you!

    Thank you. My partner has recently suffered some vision impairment but is artistic and creative, I was hoping weaving on a loom might be a bit more... accessible to my loved one than some other forms of art.

    I'm impressed no one learned this in school. Art class. Making everything yourself is a greater task. This includes growing or gathering materials that were used to make fibers, from plants to tree bark. It's simple really. Hard work but simple.

    There is a computer programming concept of multiple threading but I didn't understand fully until I watch a real threading video like this.

    I'm almost 64 years old and I've never done any weaving in my life. I knit and crochet, but I would LOVE to learn how to weave! But I think I will start with something simple like making a simple loom and use t-shirt cuts etc. Since I'm a novice, I just don't think this video is for me, YET, but I plan on getting to this stage! Thanks for the post. It motivates me.

    nice your method is good for small weaving that fits in that rectangle or square wood frame... but curious how typical the hand loom with the foot pedals load the yarn/thread initially it seems as they would be a completely different loading process

    very helpful! I'm looking for the technique that ties off the warp with p shaped knots before beggining weaving. Is anyone aware of this technique and can link me to some help? thanks!!

      Hi Chris I think you mean the double half hitch knot - I have a video which shows the technique - th-cam.com/video/Rtl_GTO2FVY/w-d-xo.html

    When I sent my shed stick (with yarn) through and came back again, I am missing two warp threads. In other words, the weft thread starts at the third warp thread and the first two have nothing on them. This is after wefting for seven rows. Do you have a video explaining what I did?

    Hai..
    kindly explain to me..which loom is better for linen fabric making(especialy shirting and bottom weight fabrics)

    • @weavewithpat
      @weavewithpat  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hand woven fabrics are generally made on 4 shaft table looms. The looms I demonstrate on this channel are tapestry looms, ie no shafts, and produce a much thicker fabric than could be used for fabrics. Thanks Pat

    I have a question. When buying yarn for the warp. What kind do I need ? I am a very new beginner and have a little idea what I am doing yet. But what yarn goes with what weaving ?

    • @ronileigh9336

      I notice you didn't get a reply. I bought a weaving loom for my daughter and I'm trying to find out what yarn or string is the best to use.

  • @Bananacrack2012
    @Bananacrack2012 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    i always round my warp up... also your doing this the long way, normally you look at the pattern and divide your dents per inch and decide your width and make your dents per inch fit to the reed.

    • @Bananacrack2012
      @Bananacrack2012 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      maybe its easier your way doing smaller projects?

    • @weavewithpat
      @weavewithpat  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you for your comments Darryl. This smaller loom technique does not use a reed. Further, it is the recommended technique for tapestry weaving.

    What sort of looms are good for things like serapes?

    • @weavewithpat
      @weavewithpat  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You would need a larger shaft loom to make serapes. The looms I demonstrate on are mainly for tapestry weaving that produces a thick fabric more suitable for wall hangings than clothing. Pat

    Very informative But I’ve never understood why these tutorials like to use Children’s music. It just feels so condescending. I don’t need ukuleles and xylophones to keep my attention. I’m not four. It’s also distracting.

      Hi Yasmine You would need a much bigger weaving loom to make a rug. These looms are suitable for smaller wall hung weavings. Pat
