    In 1996 I got clean from using drugs and this concert was the first I went to without being loaded. This concert gave me so much hope and relief that my life could go on, that I could enjoy my own true senses. This music embroiders my loose ends into a continuum of love and light. Thank you for reminding me of this. Thank you thank you thank you.

      Erica Rawlings I am still using drugs, I leave heroine, but now after nearly 30 years I am cracking all day, well when I have the enough money to cracking all day long. I wish I had your strength to enjoy music, life, well everything that life as to offer with out being cracked. . Please pray for me, that myself be as well blessed by your strength in the form that he/she found the most appropriate. Thank you, I just love this band. Someone needing love .

      Charlotte Ahrens thanks for your answer . of course there is a good more things to do in life. I still remember the firsts times that I and my friends listed not just c . twins, but there were and I guess and certainly hope they still play, dead can dance and this mortal coil. actually I believe that they play with each other. finalising thanks for the answer. it made feel me not one more. bless you and your recovery. casimiro Lima

    My brother committed suicide last weekend by overdosing on something. He was found with headphones on, presumably listening to something. This is his youtube account. He made a playlist containing 6 songs that was edited the day he passed. This is one of the 6 songs. With the method he used, he was dead after about 30 minutes, probably unconscious around 12 minutes. I like to think that it was peaceful for him with his music on. I love you Myles, I'll miss you everyday for the rest of my life....

    The Cocteaus proved they could do anything. From their first albums with their loud hardcore guitar, the sound almost rock in a way like musette and drums. To the Victorialand with their dreamy underwater sounds of whales tails. To blue bell knoll with their operatic style, big change from songs like wax and wane to Carolyn’s fingers. Then heaven or Las Vegas with their upbeat synthesizer sound, yet dramatic with their ending of frou frou foxes in midsummer fires using the war like climactic piano. Then four calendar cafe with their instrumental almost sad music like Evangeline, yet power filled like summer head. Then finally milk and kisses, where they give it their all with their romantic dream state otherworldly heaven like sound, with serpentskirt again with the operatic alien like surreal voice, romantic seekers who are lovers with a sound like falling stars. One of their best albums. Truly the best band to ever exist

  • @brianmckinleyharris
    @brianmckinleyharris 6 ปีที่แล้ว +22

    liz's vocals were at her best during the milk and kisses tour. Ive seen four cocteau twin shows in the past and she improvised a lot and her vocals were all over the place. This tour found her voice at its purest and best. She and the band finally got it right live delivering all the melody properly like on the albums.

    • @WarrenCromartie2
      @WarrenCromartie2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interesting you should say that. I saw them a few years before this at Brixton Academy, on the Four Calendar Cafe tour, and they were good, but her vocal parts bore little resemblence to the album version of the songs, in many cases, which I felt let the performance down a little. As a band they still sounded great though. She sounds really good here though.

    Awesome. There was a period of years, I know I listened to Cico Buff EVERYDAY. I was lucky to see the Cocteau Twins four times; Detroit, Ann Arbor, Chicago, Pontiac. Miss them a lot. The candle that burns twice as bright, burns half as long.

      This comment hit close to home. I'm from the Grand Rapids area, and I was only 16 in 1996, and never got to see the Twins. Had I been a little older, I would have been right in the crowd with you for some of those shows.
      Loved this comment/story. Thanks for sharing! Cheers.

    I saw them at the Ritz in Manchester, postponed for two weeks, in May 96. I had seen the Auteurs the night before, then the day of the Cocteau Twins gig, my dog Prince died at 12. I have a tape of the gig but it gets really ropey towards the end so I am grateful for this. The setlist might be the same or totally different, we'll see - who knows Cocteau twins titles?? I do know Bluebell Knoll was the first song of the encore. Very dramatic, bursting into the dark and silence after they came back onstage.

    Thank you so so very much CocteauBuff , this is incredible & a fitting equal to your HOLV soundboard sync. Fitting for them to, that they could go out playing so tight & sounded so good & at TRAH.
    I sincerely hope that Elizabeth really knows how deeply we miss her & her extraordinary voice. There is no one like her on our earth. What she has to say & sing, & how she say's & sings her words, will never be matched. Quite simply.Never. Selfishly perhaps yes I know but no other artist has 'fans' like us I' d gladly wager to, as if a sea of unconditional love & goodwill, warmth & well wishes could be felt by her from us all then she wouldn't be feeling the fears or whatever 'it' is that has stopped her releasing her material.
    And yes, I do, as I'm sure we all do, understand that she has been doing what could be known as , ' a Kate Bush' - ( that should rather be known as, 'an Elizabeth Fraser' no ?! ) -in so far as happily / gladly concentrating on being a wife & a mum. We all respect her decision ofcourse. We still are patiently waiting. Wishing, hoping & praying for something that she is confident in releasing to 'us' & the world.
    In the meantime we still have music like this. Not that bad waiting is it ?

    Thank you so much for this. I love the Cocteaus very very much.
    Imagine to have been on this tour, and to hear Carolyin's finger as the final encore.
    This is the shame about their breakup. They were never known as a traditionally great live band, but this was changing toward the end. With the use of drums, the Cocteaus achieved something special live. And their experimentation with Seefeel and acoustics was so interesting. The word is that on the final, unfinished album, Liz's contributions went beyond vocals; she began adding samples from her favorite records. Now imagine if this had been released.

      Bahman Ghahremani Definitely, I only saw them on tour once, and that was the previous Four Calendar Cafe tour, from what I have seen in the form of bootlegs by far they sounded their best live during the 1996 time period. It was so damning that within the UK there was only a small handful of gigs and I missed them.

    Change the heading - it's Ministry Of Sound, not Royal Albert Hall. I've had a slightly shorter version of this for ages - it's a real pleasure to hear it with all the encores. "Violaine" sounds fearsomely heavy on this tape. PS: I was at both the London shows - and this is the one where I sheepishly handed Liz a bunch of flowers towards the end!

      I ever so foolishly skipped this Cocteaus tour in Atlanta after seeing the bit of a mixed bag that was the Four Calendar Cafe tour. Moose were great that night, and I got to meet Robin, Simon, and Liz, so it was worth it, but it was not the sonic bliss I had hopped. I still kick myself for missing the Milk & KIsses tour. Mark Clifford handling the sound made a huge difference, methinks.

    • @pdsexton3
      @pdsexton3 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aaron1888 Sounds like we were at a lot of the same shows in Atlanta around that time. I didn't see Lush on the "Split" tour, but saw them at the Masquerade for "Spooky". "Split" is such a good record, I really would have liked to see those songs live. I missed the recent-ish Lush reunion tour because their San Francisco date got rescheduled due to a visa thing. I was originally going to be out of town when they were here, but with the reschedule I could have seen it, but didn't find out until too late.

    Rejection won't lose me
    Destroy the objective, but still survive
    You are angry and that's okay
    Forgetful or pretending
    Tired, ill, or angry, or cold
    More assured of what to do
    But I do care for you (What a beautiful gift for me)
    Rejection won't lose me
    Destroy the objective, but still survive

    i've been a fan all my life and yet i've never had a desire to experience them live. you get some really terrific improvisations by liz, all the more tickling when you're so used to the originals, but every recording of a live set i've heard always sounds like they're rehearsing or sound checking. i see what you mean about the drummer, it's like they borrowed the bloke from Def Leppard. really appreciate you uploading thanks :)

      +Gavin Paisley that's interesting i've felt somewhat the same....this show sounds a bit tighter than one that's posted from the HOLV tour....one thing that i've always thought might have helped would be a female background singer....the melodies and harmonies on the albums are gorgeous would like to have heard them live...

    • @speakertreatz
      @speakertreatz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      definitely, and the same goes for extra guitars. considering the huge volume of guitar overdubs on the records, sometimes playing counter melodies, a few guitar players fleshing out the mix and creating the richness of the records - on all live show - would have helped. Maybe it's better that Coachella was cancelled. Still though thanks very much for uploading (y)

      Had you seen them live, you would see the insanity of your post. While I totally support your view and it's completely valid, the ambiance, the air, the feeling, the emotion, the swirling sound and vocals and feelings and pure love and art surrounded everyone, like the fog rolling on the stage. They were truly an amazing experience live and, consequently, I would never want to see them perform their songs as they are on the CD, you know? The pure emotion just rolled out of all of them, through the amps and speakers and hands and mouths, and you were seeing something that would never be performed again. It was like the most ephemeral performance art. And then finally hearing Elizabeth Fraser perform Frou Frou Foxes live in 2012 was the pinnacle of my musical life. Truly intense, beautiful and amazing.

      Drums are BIG. I think they took up 3/4 of the stage. They were like the size of trampolines.

    This is such a great concert, I wish the sound was studio quality. It's still good, but can you use an equalizer to up the bass a little and lower the treble?

    Milk and Kisses tour was a HUGE upgrade from the questionable Four Calendar Café tour!
    Liz' vocals are again great here. 30:30 this moment in "Ella Megalast Burls Forever" is SO good.
