Logic's Amp Designer emulates tons of guitar amps and cabinets. But are guitars all it's good for? In fact, it's not! Try mixing your songs with Amp Designer. Prepare to have your mind blown.

This is really quite an alternate way to create a signature sound, extremely minimal and very creative, although I would say a bit of De-essing wouldn't go amiss on the vocal, it seemed to be a bit overloaded on the sibilance, I have no doubt you would consider that before finalizing the vocals sound, but that's my 2 pence worth. Other than that, as I said such a creative and minimal way to personalise and create a signature sound to your production. Excellent tut, thanks for sharing your expertise. Have a great day.

I put the Amp Designer on the the Logic's Vintage Organ B3. The organ tones come to life.

This is a terrific tutorial., not just for the ideas which are truly fascinating, but because, once the idea has been established, we can sit back and watch and hear the method being tried without interruption. Thank you.

Very nice! Didn't even know i had one of these. I have some UAD and Steven Slate plugins already for this feature but so simple and quick i might just use this..

Sounds great! I use pedalboard all the time, logic has some awesome sounds!

This is very clever thanks. I’m now wondering whether Logic’s regular EQ (and other) plugins offer a simplified, non-visual option. Must go check.

This is so brilliant. I will start using my amp and pedalboard more on elements other than guitar.

That's a great way to shape sounds but you have to keep in mind that guitar amps's EQ are just subtractive: this means that with all the knobs at 10 you should have, more or less, a flat eq curve. For example you shouldn't be able to reach the classic smiley face of a Pultec on the positive side od the db scale. It would be great to verify these amps behavior! : )

Thanks for pointing that out Axel! I'm always looking for quirky ways to turn my mix process on its head :)

Now I know why kids that I hire for live gigs turn knobs the crazy way they do.

Previously everything worked. Now my guitar sound comes through the headphones, but the designer amps don't work. Anyone know why? Not me.

Ok, you don't like visual info but you recently used (and almost selected) FF-Pro. Imho the FF has the best intuitive GUI with a very visual approach .... how come?

A very reasonable question! The Fabfilter Pro Q 3 is a relatively new addition to my toolkit. It can be hard not to play with all of these toys ;)
However, I do find sometimes that I can end up chasing my tail when using a plugin like the Pro-Q.
If I'm spending a disproportionate amount of time EQing and not getting the results I need, I find simple EQs with few visuals and knobs can help me hone in. Simple tools force (me at least) to not over analyze.
      I hope that helps!
