Dalaran joins the war effort, as the revelation of plagued grain and the death of one of their more esteemed apprentices leads them to cast aside their commitment to neutrality in this conflict. Antonidas, wracked with grief because of the death of his favored student - as a direct result of his own orders and dismissing the concerns of the Prophet, no less, is driven to accept the warning and takes Jaina's place in the story, sending an expeditionary fleet to Kalimdor at the same time in the story that Arthas would usually be going to Northrend. Theramore (or Proudmoore Harbor, as it would be called this time), is established in Jaina's honor. Although, unlike Theramore, Proudmoore harbor is established at a time that allows it to remain in contact with the Eastern Kingdom of Lordaeron, particularly and no in small part due to the fact that the mages of Dalaran have overseen it's construction, allowing teleportation from one continent to the other - given the correct authorization. On the flip-side.. Kel'thuzad still lives, at least until being slain by Uther or Garrithos, which means that certain events such as the fall of Silvermoon or plaguing of stratholme may happen far sooner than usual in the timeline. The Lich King may even set his sights upon the elven Prince, Kael'thas, in the hopes that by tainting the Sunwell the forces of the Scourge may be able to tempt the prince by convincing him to accept surrender if it means saving his people from the entropic hunger that will plague them after it's destruction. Bonus points if Kel'thuzad plays an angle with him about this being necessary to subvert the coming of the Legion or something along that line. Undeath, or the destruction of Azeroth, if you will. This would also mean that Sylvanas is still brought back throughout the course of the war effort, though while it is against her will, she is seen as a hero for dying valiantly in the face of the Scourge, and after being given the sit-rep by Kael'thas, begins to understand the gravity of the Legion's threat. She severs her connection with the Lich King with the blessing of Kel'thuzad, and becomes a rogue, dark agent set upon undermining the Legion's efforts while Kael'thas plays an 'unwitting pawn' to the Legion's advances, being led on by Kel'thuzad. EDIT: You might notice some conflicting information, such as humanity reaching out to the elves, and then the elves still falling. I would imagine there to be a manner of schism. Someone, within Silvermoon, is pulled into the Lich King's service. The remaining elves who do not follow this individual and/or who are not convinced by their promise (or are outside of their ancestral homeland as a whole) wind up joining the order of the silver hand - sating their hunger of the arcane with the blessing of the light.

Yeah no Ner'zhul specifically picked Arthas "before he was even born" as told by Kel'Thuzad to a DK Arthas. So if Arthas dies before he picks up the sword, his whole plan "subvert the legion through my champion" goes bust and Legion would successfully invade Azeroth and dispose of Lich King as "outlived his usefulness In fact, Arthas is just as instrumental in defeating the Legion as Medivh's efforts to unite Humans, Orcs and Night Elves, since he is the one that goads Illidan into killing Tichondrus, thus weakening the Legion. This ain't Elder Scrolls with their "mantling" concept

After Unclean One clears out a Terran Settlement for the Zerg, as well as rescuing Timmy the Devouring One, he has a base set up in order to spread the vespene. One base is almost set up, but they had to retreat in the face of Kerrigan's forces. They dealt with pirates, Tal'darim, Purifiers, and even a few renegade Zerg before wiping out the camp. And this was not according to the Overmind's plan. In a divergent timeline, where Unclean One gets to converse with Kerrigan and Raynor, things play out same as "canon".

However his position as the prince certainly makes him the only character fool heartidly enough to try and end the threat to his people by sailing al the way to the roof of the world to confront Malganis, so everything Ner'zhul had planned for Arthas depended on the prince's zeal... Indeed Nerz'hule foresaw what Arthas would do to accomplish victory... Not many others would have had the authority and resources to do it. Nor be in the position to have to fight for an entire kingdom. So you can almost say that without Arthas, finding another to take his place would be difficult. He did sacrifice Moridin for the blade. But Lordorean would not be so easily conquered because Arthas never killed his father the king. So the undead and burning legion would face a stronger resistance. Perhaps if they captured a paladin and forced the blade into his hands, he too would become a death knight and thus the story would be somewhat the same A death knight seemed needed to lead the scourge, frostmourne was also formidable as a blade. Though Kel'thuzad would not have been slain and so his ashes didn't need to be transported. They would attack the high elves, get Kel'thuzad to the well, kill him, and revive him there as the lich. Then they'd attack the black roc orcs, The lich would get his instruction from the demon portal. They'd go to Dalaran, and eventually begin the summoning. Another deathknight, would be send by the Lich King to kill one of the dread lords, however, unlike Arthas he may never convince or reach out to Illidan to do it for him by getting the skull of Gul'dan. However without a deathknight, the same steps in the plan would have to be undertaken but i guess a dreadlord or several would command the scourge. Perhaps upon seeing dreadlords the black rock orcs wouldn't have resisted the undeadand joined them. Giving access to the demon portal to the lich. And they'd be invading dalaran with the undead and also protecting the summoning. Illidan would not find the Skull Of Gul'dan, he would not become more powerful and demonic. He would never have been outcast by his brother. He would never have summoned the Naga.
