I can still remember Nantucket playing on the old boardwalk at Atlantic beach back in the early 80's. And I was 21 when I lived there and I am 63 now and I still listen to them on my iHeartRadio app. Keep Rockin Nantucket.
Saw them play N.C. State in Spring of '85. It was broad daylight but they sure remembered to bring their medium-size lighting rig truss and had it turned on. It was freaking hilarious.
I saw them at an outdoor concert at the Spartanburg, S.C. Fairgrounds in 78 or 79, still have my ticket stub :) It was Summertime I remember..... It was a BYOB event and the cops were all cool, it was like a mini-Woodstock. Admission was like $10-12, 4-6 different bands with Nantucket as the Headliner. I sat with a Oz. between my legs and rolled it all up during that concert...back when it was $30-40. The concert was interrupted for a bit because of a drug OD, someone injected vacuum cleaning fluid that was supposed to have been morphine or Demerol. Was my 1st & best outdoor concert experience, Thanks Nantucket !!
I was about 15 or 16 when we watched them every time they played Madhatter/TownHall! They were fun days... Especially cause I was able to get in the club under age. Very exciting.
Nantucket was never a southern rock band. They were a legit rock band in their own right as pop songwriters, musicians, and and live band. They had significant Radio play, which is the most difficult thing you can achieve without writing a check (then and now). Says a ton about how good they really were.
Never missed them or PKM when they hit Roadies in Goldsboro still pull out there albums crank up the turntable and relive my youth keep rocking it guys♥
Saw these guys at least 3 times way back in the day ( late 70s) at Toads Place, New Haven. Still have a couple of their albums on vinyl then repurchased them years later on CD. Back then they received good radio play on WPLR.
Why aren't these guys taking their rightful place alongside all the other great Southern Rock bands? I saw them open for AC/DC on the Back in Black tour and they kicked f***ing ass!
We were living in Brazil when I was back on summer vacation and just picked up their album in a Record Bar. I lied the Lobster Picture. Was a fan from the get go. Took that album back to Brazil and everyone loved it and had to have it. Saw em open for Rossington Collins in Myrtle Beach in 81 or 82. May have been some hash involved.
I worked for Nantucket briefly as a sound tech, then worked with Mother's Finest. Nantucket never really hooked up with a record company that promoted them, they were self-promoted and occasionally Wilson Howard at Beach Club Promotions would put them on as an opener but it wasn't like Columbia Records or Criterion was promoting them.
I remember when 106.1 WRDU was a rock station. It's talk radio now. I also remeber listening to this song on 94.7 out of Raleigh. That's before it became a country station. What happened to the good old days of rock and roll? Most of what they call rock these days is CRAP! I guess I know now how the Elvis generation felt about this kind of music. Wonder if these guys still play together?
I love these guys and all the band combinations! Their fans were and are the greatest to rock with. Ray Carroll and I and our crew were fortunate to have them as friends and performers in the SWITCH days in Raleigh!
My band used to open for these guys often in the early '80's. Larry always belted it out great. This IS kinda rough and you can see it in his actions. The problem is, you have to play even if your voice isn't working well ...and you have to have fun in spite of your disappointment or the show is a complete bust. I have a lot of respect and admiration for these guys. ROCK ON NANTUCKET
I used to go see these guys every chance I could while living in New Bern, NC 77-79. The venue was usually DIamond Jim's. Does anyone know whatever happened to their lead guitarist at that time, Mark Downing ?
ever known a frontman who WASN'T arrogant? I've been to so many concerts from national acts that i can't remember them all....but I still remember EVERY time I saw nantucket....I live in ohio now and I can only wish that my friends and family up here could experience what i did many times in the late 70's and early 80's...glad to see these guys are still rockin.....oh yeah, anybody remember tommy redd's FUCK IRAN button? I bet he still has that in hidden away in a drawer somewhere...
Unbelievable. I worked as sound man for Nantucket back around 1981, really fun guys but they took a month off and I went to work for another band, I had to have money to feed my imaginary friends. I did touch base with Kenny Seoul a few years back. Jeeze, it was about 40 years ago.
Arrogant? I thought he seemed that way until I saw how he treats fans AND opening bands (like us). The ladies would kill for him, that's gotta have an effect on things huh? Confidence with attitude. If I had more of it I may still be performing.
Who are you and for your info, I am shooting the vid not in it. These guys are very talented and yes people get old. One day you will to if you don't die first. They have more talent than you could ever dream of, punk !!!
I had this cassette way back then and learned every lick.

Confidence with attitude. If I had more of it I may still be performing.
Who is the drummer in this clip?
Glenn Edwards
Did Nantucket have two sets of drummers back in the 70 s...?
