    These videos have been very helpful, easily the best UK-centric smart lock content. I've spent the past couple of weeks umming and ahhing over buying a lock but I just can't make my mind up. I think I've ruled out retro-fit locks as honestly I just don't trust the lock to adhere to my existing lock frame and not a fan of the way it looks (I would also need a new lock barrel). I then ruled out the Simpled due to installation looking a faff and potentially requiring a new hole to be drilled for the cable, plus I don't really want a keypad/obvious outside appearance. The reviews of the Yale put me off, seems clunky and not too reliable. The Loqed is interesting but they don't even have stock currently on Amazon (bit weird). This leaves the Ultion Nuki. Currently they have the non-pro 3.0 on sale for £199 which is tempting as I honestly don't think I will ever use or want remote access. The pro 4.0 is £179 more expensive at £379 which seems like a poor deal. I did email Ultion and they said they won't start shipping the non-pro 4.0 until stock of the 3.0 is all gone.

      You can still get out of home with the 3 with Apple HomeKit or if you buy a Nuki bridge. The LOQED is no longer available as sadly the company went bankrupt a few months back

    The Switchbot supports location- based auto-unlock natively in the app which can be found under settings. It's been available for about 6 weeks, and although in beta, I've found it works fairly reliably.

    Hello Mark! I want to buy one of these but im not sure which one yet. If you could help me by solving some of my concerns i'd really appreciate it. So, im a Samsung user (phone and watch), does any of these have the function to open through a watch by nfc? I know Nuki does but through its watch app not just NFC... Also, correct me if im wrong but i think the U200 and Switchbot need a hub to work through wifi remotely, if i get one of these with a hub do they do the same job Nuki does? Last but not least, does any of them have a huge advantage compared to the others that i havent seen or Nuki 4th gen pro = Switchbot with hub = U200 with hub ? Thanks for your time!

      Hey, I'm not sure I'm going to be much help for Samsung/Android support as I use neither.
      The Switchbot will require a hub for out of home use, either their Hub Mini with Matter Support or Hub 2...you can bundle these with the lock on the switchbot website which takes a discount off the hub.
      The U200 will only need a Hub to work remotely if you want that out of home access via the Aqara app...if you're happy using whatever you have that acts as a home hub then you won't need one.
      I believe switchbot can open via NFC if you have their keypad but I'm not sure if that can be done via a phone or just their tags...
      Hopefully some of that is helpful

    Do you have any problems with the switchbot jamming often and need calibrating using the nightlatch mode ?

      I haven’t had that issue at all

      @@MarksTechVlogs i have and seen others saying the same on searching google. I have it on a thumbturn cylinder and wondered if i changed to a key may alter. Seems that it quite often loses its nightlatch calibration and doesn't release the latch fully and then gives a jamming code which requires a full calibration. Not sure if its when its manually opened whether it does something to the position it thinks it should be in. Debating on changing it to the aqaraU200 - is this similar or much better in your opinion ?

      Mine is on a thumbturn but I don’t use the night latch mode so I wonder if that’s the issue. I use the U200 on my front door and have since just before it came out. I do use the night latch mode on this and have no issues…personally I prefer the u200 largely for the HomeKey support

      @@MarksTechVlogs thanks for reply and for all the informative videos. I dont really have anything apple so homekey would not be any good. would i need a hub for the u200 to lock it away from home etc ? I think i purchased a mini matter hub with the switchbot but rarely need to use so may not even be an issue to consider :)

      If you have something like a Apple HomePod mini or Google/amazon compatible matter hub you don’t need the Aqara hub for out of home access, otherwise you’ll need Aqara’s M3 hub but unless you want out of home access you don’t need it

    The U200 lacks the magnetic sensor option as the Nuki does.

    Which one is less noisy?

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The quietest is Switchbot however, the Aqara does support a quiet mode where it turns slower and in those mode it is easily the quietest and you can schedule this so it’s quieter at night

    So what your recommendations would be?
    Looking for a first smart lock on multipoint and one of functionality would be geofencing and remote unlock. I understand that. All of them require extra hub to work? My system of choice is Alexa/google, don't have an apple nor a big fan of it.
    I got feeling that you preferred u200?

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If geofencing is important then the Nuki is the best choice, the Switchbot and Aqara don’t yet have geofencing, the Aqara is mostly my favourite because of Apple homekey.
      I’d also probably go for the Nuki Pro over Nuki as the built in WiFi means you don’t need a hub for out of home access

    I have a U200 and a Hub M3 installed at home, and I can say that I have never been able to pair them! I paired them once with the Apple Home Kit, because I have an Apple TV 4K, but when I tried again I could not do it again. The Matter / Thread technology in this equipment needs "improvements". IPv6 checked, all possible and imaginary settings and this crap does not synchronize, everything was reported to the mediocre Aqara support line and they do not solve anything. 3 Weeks and more than 100 attempts and nothing. If the lock is used without remote resource, it just does its job decently. Today I put everything in a box and sent it back to Amazon, I'm going for the Nuki 4 Pro. My patience has limits.

    I’ve been down a rabbit hole of research on smart locks and locks in general today. I’m borderline ready to pull the trigger on the Ultion Nuki Plus and hold off on the fingerprint pad in the hopes the launch one with HomeKey soon. The U200 looks great, but I’m not a fan of hot it fits to the lock compared to the Ultion panel.

    Do you use the m3 hub ?

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do because I was sent one by Aqara but the only thing it gives you is away from home access to lock/unlock and monitor the lock in the Aqara App so isn't really worth it as you already have that via Apple home

    Hi, Mark. One thing I can't find an answer for, so figured I'd ask here as I see you have a door with a large window in it. The house we're buying has a slim window that runs vertically 1/2 the length of the door through the centre. If someone were to take a hammer to that, what's to stop them reaching their arm through and turning the smart lock to open the door? TYIA

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I guess absolutely nothing...but that would apply if you had a thumb turn lock...and probably when someone has got that far they're going to find a way in anyway. The main advantage is that from the outside they can't tell that you have a smart lock unless you have a keypad or something on the outside

    • @ArminTalic

      @@MarksTechVlogs Yep, fair point. I guess it comes down to overall security posture around the home, and appetite to risk etc...

    I’ve gone from a ultion Nuki plus to a U200. I’m using the ultion cylinder from that that has a tail rather than a thumb turn and I’ve noticed that it is not a smooth with the adaptor supplied from Aqara. When I tried it with an Ultion key cylinder inside it was much better but I realised I couldn’t open the door from outside with a key. Did you notice a difference with the tail and the Aqara adaptor?
