It's fun to think that of all of the aliens that the therapy place has had, it's a couple of messed up humans that breaks the system
The whole Rick and Morty divorce storyline literally happened identically to my real life and the episodes came out at around the same time it was happening. My older sister was happy about it, my parents specifically wanted to wait for me (their youngest son) to finish high school like they said in this. Honestly, it made it a little easier to talk about with my friends and also showed me that I probably wasn't the only one going through it.

After the first scene, I thought it was going to be a Summer the Vampire Slayer episode because she said she was going to make some stakes.
I just remembered that Buffy's last name was Summers.
Just so you know, yeah Dan Harmon during this time was going through a divorce. But as a bit of a happy note, his ex wife and he are still close friends and work together on Harmonquest .

This episode ties in with the last episode of S5 where we learn that the citadel basically makes sure jerry and beths across dimensions end up together

At the end of each episode, there are the production company logos displayed. One of these represents Dan Harmon. In the first season, it was a claymation showing of a happy couple. Around now (during your watching..aka..season two episode somethingorother), it is a claymation of a guy laying on a couch in a disgustingly messy living room, probably representing his marital breakup. I think things have improved in the 4th season in that regard.

i love this episode, and i know rick was happy to go to school with his grandkids because when he was actually high school age it was the 60s lol.
Rick was Born in 1946, so he is 75.
Rick is the perfect example of "Happiness is impossible to find in intelligence." When youre smarter than everyone else and you know it, it is very hard to connect with everyone who appears to be blissfully unaware of anything outside of their bubble. Coming from experiences from my own life, it is most definitely a curse to be vastly smarter than everyone else.
Kacee had it correct when she said that no matter how intelligent you are it is still difficult to process your feelings and emotions, especially when you do not understand why you have them.

Just to touch on the divorce situation as a kid. I was a kid of divorced parents it happened when I was about 8 almost 9. I remember my parents together always fighting. Now as a 21 almost 22 year old I see how it was better once they split and if they stayed together it would have been worse. I don’t wish divorced parents on anyone but I would take separate parenting over a bad house hold

Kinda funny how a cartoon can make you think? Not really anymore, but people's perception of animated shows are so wrong anymore, it's such a great medium for content that could and would never have existed 40 years ago.
Rick is literally drunk in almost every episode. Of course he can’t handle his emotions.
I won't even pretend to be as smart as Rick but I definitely agree that the whole not being able to talk to anyone angle seems to be right, I feel the same when I talk to family. I love them but they don't have the same level of education or the same thought patterns as me and it really makes me feel alone sometimes so i bottle up a lot of things instead of letting it out. My version of being a Tiny Rick and singing a song about how im trapped and stuff is drinking some bourbon and messaging friends on Facebook,

beth and jerry are codependent because they feel held hostage by the other, beth feels that she has to control jerry so he don't kill himself doing something stupid and she likes being in control of things like rick does but she wants to be free from the shackles of sitting a big baby that would do anything to avoid risk, that's why beth sees jerry as a spineless worm, jerry feels he needs beth to survive and is using his pity to do it but at the same time he is intimidated by beth being better in many things, worm jerry don't want to kill anyone but he does it because he is more scared of xenomorph beth and worm jerry prefer to be raped than to take any kind of risk
