Barney sings "La donna e mobile" which is from the opera "Rigoletto" by Verdi. They both sing "Funiculi Funicula," an Italian song by Denza. This song is not from an opera, but has been sung by opera singers. Both Fred and Barney wear top hats and bowties, suitable for wearing to an opera. Later in the bowling alley, Fred calls Barney "Pagliacci," which is a reference to the opera "Pagliacci" by Leoncavallo. So both either knew something about opera and classical music, or they did their homework so they could convince their wives that Fred's illness was real. Actually the references to classical music may have been due to the late Hoyt Curtin, who composed the theme and much background music.

I'm Desiree Fox from Armadale WA and I watched the Flintstones when I was little in Chicago before we moved to Australia I love the Flintstones as it's a down to earth cartoon and I'm always left laughing so much I cry
