*WELCOME TO EPISODE 5 MILLION OF AN ONGOING SERIES WHERE WE BASICALLY TAKE THE CAMERA ANYWHERE WE WANT, AND WE TRY TO FIND SECRETS AND NEW DISCOVERIES TO SOME OF OUR FAVORITE GAMES. WITH THAT SAID, LET'S GET GOING.*
It's not his classic design at all, you'd have to be face blind to think it is. The new DK is based on 2D artwork Nintendo has been doing for awhile now.
@BallisticBB Nothing then other the fact that me and him go way back and he was a leech and big racist in his old Discord. Also the fact that he would just copy videos from Game Theory and just add one or two things. Also the fact that his persona is the laziest dumbest thing i've ever seen.
@IISonicthehedge // IISonic Productions The whole early Mario/Donkey Kong timeline doesn't really make any sense. I don't think anyone at Nintendo has ever really thought about it or agreed on a unified set of events. The way I usually rationalise it is as follows: The original Donkey Kong is modern day Cranky Kong. DK Jr. is Cranky and Wrinkly's son, and modern day Donkey Kong's father. This makes Cranky the grandfather of current DK. The name "Donkey Kong" is more like a title than an actual name, and is given to the next son in the bloodline when they come of age. If we assume that Donkey Kong Jr had a child at an early age, then modern Donkey Kong would be an adolescent during the events of Donkey Kong 3, where DK Jr. grew up to take the title of Donkey Kong, and the original DK retired and took the name 'Cranky'. Donkey Kong 3 had an obscure PC release in Japan. The events of that game see Stanley the Bugman and DK (Jr. grown up) abducted by aliens and sent across the universe, with them eventually landing in an alien city. We can say that they remained there - which is safe to assume, because neither of the two characters have appeared in the Mario or DK canon ever again, ignoring that one time that DK Jr. appeared as a child alongside modern DK (his son) in a Mario Tennis game, because that was stupid. This means that the adolescent Donkey Kong remains on Earth with Cranky Kong, who is currently a bit younger than his most recognisable appearances. After DK Jr. and the unseen mother of modern DK remain missing for several years, DK adopts his current name, as he becomes mature. Diddy Kong is not Donkey Kong's son, just for clarification. The reason this whole timeline doesn't really make much sense is because of Mario. Apes do not usually live as long as humans, yes, but for one man to have lived throughout two entire generations of the Kong family and not really appeared to have visibly aged is very confusing. The only way it would work is if Cranky and Jr. both had children almost as soon as they reached maturity. Even so, the timeframe would have spanned at least fifteen years, meaning that Mario must have had to have been in his early twenties during the original Donkey Kong, making his current appearance to be in his mid-thirties. Yoshi's Island DS proves that Mario and Cranky Kong are the same age, as they both appear as babies (ignoring the fact that the baby looks more similar to a baby version of modern DK), making Cranky Kong currently also a little bit under 40 years old. Apes in real life rarely live beyond 50, so it would make sense for him to be portrayed as an old man. TL:DR Present day DK is actually Donkey Kong the Third, with DK Jr. being his father and DK Sr. (Cranky Kong, the original Donkey Kong) being his grandfather. DK Jr. has been missing in action for a long time. Both Cranky Kong and Mario are the same age, and must have aged by at least fifteen years since the original game.
disregarding the insane amount of effort put into this, can we talk about the detailed process that he gave? mad respect for letting others know how it was done
I imagine it's the same as the original. Take a 3d model and pixelize the animation it into sprites one can use. Now a days theres software like pixelover that specifically deal with such work

Moon Medic Now he needs to find F-Zero Games after Climax from that Alternate Universe and see if Advance Wars gets any Reps in Smash besides Fire Emblem.

Just like that person said: this would’ve been passed on as a leak of a prototype. (Maybe change the lives next time to make it look convincing.)
I love the fine details and references you put in this entire video. The barrel throwing animation, chest pound, and the ground stomp from DK, the death animations for both DK and Jr, hell, I didn't even notice you changed the whole island until a second viewing. This seems like some alternate reality we never were meant to see, but now I want to see a DK spin off like this where you play through an adventure as Cranky and DK in these forms and fight off a Prince K Rool, all told as a story to the other Kongs by modern Cranky. I'm never gonna get that, but I want to believe now, dammit.
+Geor Geo Um yes it has? Nintendo isn't just going to make the Rare games non-canon just because Rare joined Microsoft. The most they did was remove a Rare pin from Dixie Kong's hat.
Geor Geo Rare created Cranky not Nintendo, all original characters for the country series up to to rare's departure are sole creations of rare with creative consultation from Nintendo who maintained the legal ownership of the characters. I mentioned earlier that snake had a codec easter egg in smash bros brawl that confirms Cranky as the original DK. To elaborate further, this easter egg explicitly makes reference to DK's grandfather being the original donkey Kong who fought Mario. Dai I dunno. If the OG Donkey Kong became Cranky then Junior must be the Donkey Kong, we know now. Pretty sure the whole “grandson” thing was an error.
+Retro Fredo I know, but Nintendo loves implying that the current DK is the same DK from the arcade game. I was assuming that was one of the ideas behind this video.
E-ManAnimates Nintendo’s already confirmed it, though. Super Smash Bros. Brawl introduced Solid Snake and special codecs for every opponent. DK’s codec confirmed that the Arcade DK is the grandfather (Cranky Kong) of modern DK.
+NathanGuiaYT Sometimes the main part of Nintendo doesn't really consider Smash Bros. to any capacity. Also, it's possible that the codec is different in the Japanese release.
No, it's not, Cranky kong is Donkey Kong's grandfather, not his dad. The tinny ape with the white shirt IS Donkey Kong's dad and is called Donkey Kong Jr
Slayer Jim He may have used ''son'' as a general way to say ''grandson'', is more common than you think. Anyway, i don't realy play DK games so don't take my opinion too seriously
Senior KedeneletH, Cranky said in DK64 "Good for nothing son of mine" when referring to DK. So he quite literally called him his son and not his Grandson. Now to make sure we need to check the Japanese text to see what he says in that version.
Hopefully this helps motivate people to look into how to replace the sprites because these are literally perfect. Any plans to release the sprites or even the models themselves? Even if these can't be put into DKC right now, the models could be importing into different games....assuming they are not hundreds of thousands of polys that would take forever to reduce. lol
StupidMarioBros1Fan I see u everywhere I go man xD not even on my friends list anymore and I keep finding ya! XD (nothing personal btw, just a regular friends list cleaning, if you wanna re add me go ahead xP we we're friends on steam at one point I remember :/ )

So this is an alternate timeline where cranky never drank a potion of aging so he never had to retire thus he didn't have to get his delinquent son to do everything.
Yeah, since it uses not only Donkey Kong I's original, younger, more Japanese-styled arcade design, and also has DK Jr., it appears more in line with the Mario series, rather than the British-designed new age of Donkey Kong featuring Donkey Kong III and his nephew, Diddy Kong, created by Rare, rather than Nintendo.

yo can you please publicly release these sprites, someone NEEDS to make this a ROM hack
he did, it's on the spriters resource last I checked.
Now we need to change the enemies and items to look more classic, and make the levels to look like the original donkey kong
@@Fanatic_Foremem I can't seem to find it? Got a link?
@@DiamondEpsilon This should work. Also, make a excellent fan game for us, please.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees
So technically playing as Cranky Kong and DK's dad.
Neat.
You just said the same thing.
You were playing as Cranky Kong and Young Donkey Kong
I’m pretty sure Junior is the current Donkey Kong.
@@zigzoinks5493 yep
@@zigzoinks5493 Nah, canonically he's his dad. Cranky/Donkey Kong is DK's grandpa, while Donkey Kong Jr is Cranky's son, making that DK's grandpa.
Dai
I dunno. If the OG Donkey Kong became Cranky then Junior must be the Donkey Kong, we know now. Pretty sure the whole “grandson” thing was an error.
aged like wine
he now look like his grandpa
Amazing job. Did you consider sharing sprites with someone who knows how to make ROM hacks so this becomes playable?
I really agree with this...
This deserves to be playable
DO IT!!!!!!!!!! I WOULD PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want it!
That would be great, would love for these to be public!
I'd rather have Rare's redesign, but I'm still impressed by this all the same! Maybe you could use this as Cranky in his prime?
E-ManAnimates This is Cranky in his prime.
+Retro Fredo
I know, but Nintendo loves implying that the current DK is the same DK from the arcade game.
+NathanGuiaYT
Sometimes the main part of Nintendo doesn't really consider Smash Bros. to any capacity. Also, it's possible that the codec is different in the Japanese release.
I think the best interpretation of it can be 'Whatever they **** they feel like at the time'. I don't think even Nintendo can decide.
Nintendo really looked at this and said "Hey, that's an interesting idea!"
This is insanely impressive.
So Basically a Young Cranky Kong & DK :P since this donkey kong is the old ape himself and the baby is our current DK.
No, it's not, Cranky kong is Donkey Kong's grandfather, not his dad. The tinny ape with the white shirt IS Donkey Kong's dad and is called Donkey Kong Jr
Exactly, and Cranky was a scientist in that game being very helpful towards his son DK

I'm curious myself, leaving a comment here so I can get notifications. 😎
I would've loved it still, come on now, look at how charming it is
Somebody needs to use the sprites made in this, and make a rom hack replacing the original sprites. I would pay good money to see that done.
*bump*
pay someone do it then, mr. money bags.
@@neutralnarration1463 Bruh you're replying to a 2 year old comment.
@@QWERTZ-WASD Why would that be impossible?
Shut the hell up with those crappy ROM hack jokes, they ain't funny anymore so shut up.
This is suddenly very relevant after the Mario Kart 9 switch 2 reveal…
there’s a reason we’re all being recommended this today.
NINTENDO HIRED THIS MAM
They did?
They're referring to the new DK design in the Switch 2 Mario Kart reveal trailer.
Hopefully this helps motivate people to look into how to replace the sprites because these are literally perfect.
Any plans to release the sprites or even the models themselves? Even if these can't be put into DKC right now, the models could be importing into different games....assuming they are not hundreds of thousands of polys that would take forever to reduce. lol
StupidMarioBros1Fan I have seen you in a comment section before
Me 2
StupidMarioBros1Fan I see u everywhere I go man xD not even on my friends list anymore and I keep finding ya! XD (nothing personal btw, just a regular friends list cleaning, if you wanna re add me go ahead xP we we're friends on steam at one point I remember :/ )

shut up
thicc
what even did he do
Now we're coming back to this design 2025 and beyond
This is honestly very impressive. Well done.
This is actually becoming a reality
How?
@@kingpotato7183 donkey kong redesign in mariokart 9
I knew this video would start popping up in my recommendation again
There's a chance that the next Donkey Kong Country game could look like this now
This video is now canon now.
It’s like someone time traveled from 2025 and posted this many years earlier and here we are today, right after that Mario Kart Switch 2 reveal.
Oh my God this is absolutely incredible. I love how they both look. You hit the nail on the head with these designs. I'm just super sad realising it's not an actual rom hack I can play. Amazing job, seriously.
You should do the Original Mario Bros. but with Mario's Jumpman design.
*Y E S*
Shouldn't be too hard to do, all he needs to do is to select the fill color tool and spam it onto Mario's sprites
Joseph Womer
Or maybe a later game to get more details from the official art right.
Or Super Mario World
Or Super Mario 64 with his original reversed red and blue colored outfit and black hair.
Looks like Cranky Kong found the fountain of youth.
Again.
@Alexito Rito @Lemuel Delavelle I know what you mean..
God damn that's nice!
Garrulous64 glad to know you have an appreciation for donkey kong country
I find it so funny that even the YT algorithm knows it's not Movie DK, yet some people just refuse to believe it
this is not how he looks in mario kart 9, please compare them. he looks like the movie DK
Of course this video pops up in my feed again. Looks looks like this video was a prophecy for 2025.
WAIT SEVEN YEARS AGO!?!?!?
I totally see what you did with the death animation. Very clever
damn dude. this is incredible. I think it might have actually been easier to just add your sprites into the game LMAO but this is art
So this is an alternate timeline where cranky never drank a potion of aging so he never had to retire thus he didn't have to get his delinquent son to do everything.
If this is true probably Classic Donkey Kong was actually Cranky Kong while Donkey Kong Jr. aged up and turned into in the new Donkey Kong as of now
Seeing 7 years ago on a video from 2018 makes me feel ancient
Cranky in his prime
This should definitely be a rom hack.
I have a feeling this is in my recommendations now because of mk9
You should make a Behind the Scenes video about this, it looks real to me, as like a rom hack.
the people saying the MK9 model is based on this and not the movie design really need their eyes examined
@Spacepig22, this is something else. Thanks for this SHOW!. Awesome footage you built.
The algorithm is carrying
These sprites are well detailed and animated! Nicely done!
This aged....well?
You predicted the future!
so this is how i find out you can ride that steel barrel like that
I just realized this was 7 years ago, this is actually insane for when it was released
I mean this just recommend me 7 years later when I didn't notice it was either a new video or a old one.
Yeah but if they used his old design then we would be playing as Cranky Kong lol.
Just realized that there’s a reason Cranky Kong has a cane, because walking around was bad for his back.
If they went with his old design we might of gotten a less confusing storyline between the kong families
*THAT DK IS CRANKY KONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:(*
He kinda looks like Donkey Kong’s movie design now that I think about it!
That´s because Miyamoto dislikes the RARE redesign and prefers his own original design... unfortunately.
This has always been a rumor. He has no ill will towards DK’s modern design, if he did he would have changed it by now.
Huh. Guess this aged decently.
This looks freaking awesome! There should mods in every mario game with donkey Kong to have his old design. It'd be really neat!
Ever considered releasing the sprites so someone could make a ROM hack?
The sprite animations are SO good!!!
This is so good and I hope this becomes an official mod one day. Amazing work dude
This is pretty incredible work
He looks a lot more like a Mario character. Whether that's good or bad is your judgement.
@Lih _ Todoroki nooooooooo Mario used to be a donkey Kong character. That's why the Mario series is a donkey Kong spinoff
@@CrispyFrise HOW THE TURNS HAVE TABLED
@@bubsq.400 by the way I spent alot of money on that table
Yeah, since it uses not only Donkey Kong I's original, younger, more Japanese-styled arcade design, and also has DK Jr., it appears more in line with the Mario series, rather than the British-designed new age of Donkey Kong featuring Donkey Kong III and his nephew, Diddy Kong, created by Rare, rather than Nintendo.
@Jacob Morgan Yea, but Donkey Kong was an established franchise before Mario was.
I'm still impressed on how you got new models into old games, These models are very expressive.
