outside heelhook is one of those fucking weird moves, every one you see teaching it, does it different way. I've been grappling +10 years and to this day i cant finish it to some of my training partners when they just simply internally over rotates the leg, when its not heelhook anymore but its not kneebar eighter...

The internal rotation is only possible because the leg isn't bend enough. If can stop em from straightening the leg you can stop the rotation before it happens. If it's already too late you have to finish with toe hold mechanics. Keep the heelhook grip and fokus on bringing their toes to their talebone and their heel towards your head. If you have good control over the rest of em via your hips and legs you should be able to finish the move.

@@X0xHuBeRx0X do you have any tips to prevent the streightening of the leg, or bending it?

@@kaikkimoi Try to have it in mind while you get into position. Once it´s straight it is very hard to bend again. You could try to force a roll and crunch in while rolling to end up in a better finishing position. You have to be very carefull when you try to put a bend in the knee that your opponent cant crowd you. Because your hips will end up way closer to each other a lot of the times your vulnerable to handfighting and back takes. I wouldn´t want to take that risk.

I agree. The old school Ken shamrock catch wrestling version is where you bend the leg as much as possible and be butt to butt and then pull the heel to your chin and then rotate your torso.

Gary Tonon has a great dvd called breaking legs and breaking hearts. He talks about what you are looking for lm such a digestible way. Super easy to learn and explains the what and the why brilliantly

Eddie should do a Heel Hooks 2.0 with you guys.
Also, can you guys put out an instructional about Face Locks / Neck Cranks / Jaw Cranks like this video from Shinya Aoki : th-cam.com/video/NDXxQwpsyqw/w-d-xo.html

Risking being damaged for life over a medal.
This stuff does not seem worth it.

Facts. Plus leg entanglements are boring to watch, which holds grappling back from a spectator standpoint

@@DSVN23 if both fighters fight in the entanglement I personally find it really intense an interesting. Mostly the little adjustments is hard to notice if you don't know where to look. It isn't as flashy as an flying submission but it s definitely not boring. I'm doing the sport for me and not the spectators and leg locks are a great way to negate an weight disadvantage with pure technical knowledge and speed.
      Just my personal opinion
