Outstanding review of one of my favourite watches of all time. REAL pedigree and REAL heritage, amazing quality, attention to detail and a classic design for an unbeatable price.
Quite surprising to see such distain from so called "haute horologists", obviously their youtube handle is a sarcastic joke. Any REAL horology fan would be able to appreciate this well bred stallion of a piece. Its sad when peoples own insecurities and ignorance get in the way of being able to enjoy such a terrific watch like this. Sure its not a Blanc Pain, but the man makes the watch, not the other way round, right?
LOVED the fact you actually took it diving and shared it in the review.
I can't compete with that, so I graciously bow my head in respect.
    Thank you and best regards,
    TGV

The Urban Gentry Thanks for saying what needs to be said.
I learned of this brand from you and have spent some time
reading about them and I agree with you 100%.
This is a real watch that a regular person can afford. When I first got into watches I was all into
the high end expensive brands but after owning a few honestly I feel like an idiot
for spending that much for a watch. Now I'm
into brands that don’t cost as much as a car.

Please don't listen to the snobs, I really enjoy all of your reviews. There's nothing low end about Squale, and I for one like to watch reviews of watches way out of my league, but equally those that could be simple impulse buys. The more variety of timepieces and price points the better. Great review, keep it up guys.

Your review was great because it included the dive experience under water watch view! Nice to see a fellow Canuck, from an expat Vancouverite. I was on the fence about this particular model (I recently bought the 1545 Mil) but your review was perfect...thanks!

I agree with TGV and others siding with this channel's recent tendency to deviate from their past standards, but thats actually okay, because after all, these reviews are watched by various collectors, owners and audiences across the world and NOT everyone can afford high end watches. Sure, watching high end watches review are satisfying and was the foundation of this channel, but eventually branching out is essential to reach a wider variety of audiences.
Also, FYI, this watch and the Grand Seikos are nothing short of fantastic. Despite being classified and identified to be of different leagues, they are still good in their own ways and should be appreciated regardless of its origin and whether the brand is famous or not. PLUS its always awesome to have something not EVERYONE has. As a proud owner of a Grand Seiko, I can not only vouch for it's accuracy, design and that it is practically on par with their Swiss counterparts but it's a plus to have something most people dont have or dont know.

Thank you for the excellent review! Beautiful watch. I really appreciate the fact that you wear the watch and review it on the wrist for a while. I think that it is very important for us, watch/horology fans to get a size idea/reference about proportions, because we all have different wrist sizes, and designs can suddenly change how the watch looks on the wrist.
    Cheers!

I've owned this watch for three months now and despite having much more expensive brands, this is my favourite one right now. It's just so fun and alluring, it's irresistible. It keeps good time, but most of all, it's super comfortable to wear all day.. The crown is a little fiddly it's true, but not annoyingly so. Fantastic job Squale. Well done.

Beautiful watch, that blue is perhaps the blue I've seen on any watch, classy and yet eye catching. Cracking watch, if people turn their snotty noses up at something like this they are not a viewer worth keeping.

Great review and the dive footage adds context. The Squale watch brand seems to be in the spotlight at the moment (having been reviewed on a number of watch channels). Squale has received a lot of prais, rightly deserved I think, because it combines classical styling with great functionality at accessible prices.

I own this exact watch and bought it directly from the manufacturer for the very reasons you describe. I love the look. Unfortunately the bezel scratched within a few weeks of owning it. Either my bad luck or maybe the paint is vulnerable to scratching.

    • @riley165
      @riley165 2 ปีที่แล้ว

yeah bezel is aluminium and scratches easily, however you can purchase a saphire bezel in same colour for $60 it's just x4 little screws to loosen on the side of the bezel and the blue ring should lift off and be replaced easily with the new one. being made from saphire the new ring is totally scratch resistant so problem solved :)

I know that this is 2 years later but that’s how it is. Standard/Elaboré/Top/Chronometer. Only the COSC ETAs and those modified by higher end brands will really be somewhat comparable with something like a basic Rolex 3130 in the current ND Sub. This is why Rolex is the best value for people that do not have Patek or high-end AP money (more than just the basic 15400st which is not so much). For example both my BLNR and 118238 DD run within +2/day for years now. Since I place them down crown facing up over night they lose that second or two they gained throughout the day leaving me anywhere usually from -2/0/+1. It will vary each time you wind the watch up after it has stopped but always within that range.
It is for this reason that I laugh when people say Rolex is overrated or overpriced. Especially those who have purchased a good fake. Yes, they make look similar but a watch is more than just appearance. The modern Rolex movements are often more accurate than “holy trinity” watches like the 15400st and 5711. When you look at the movement quality, bracelet and clasp quality, dial quality, bezel quality and overall fit and finish they’re really a no brained and worth every single penny. Yes, they are like the Mercedes of the watch world and many posers buy them but that they are a great product is indisputable.

I've had an ETA 2824 running at +1s per day. Seiko 6r15 at +3s per day. With automatics especially at this price point, you'll need some luck to get a good accuracy. Even my $2k MM300 with 8L35 is +25s per day.

Strange how Invicta puts that same branding aesthetic on the side of its diver and haters say that it is very tacky

I seen a TH-cam video, where a more orangish leather strap matches the orange hand, and looks much better !

UGH!!!!! Would someone please sell me one of these! I have watched this video nearly 20 times now!!! I missed the boat on getting one new and am searching for one on the second hand market. Love the blue on this watch!! Absolutely stunning.
Haters gonna hate. If you can't appreciate a quality watch such as a Squale...fine. Doesn't mean you have to let everyone else know you're and idiot.

so this company closed and was reopened by a different family?
so I;m not sure how much of horological provenance can be claimed by such a company.
kind of reminds me of stowa and or other companies that could not survive the japanese quartz flooding the market.
