My fiance does all the cooking and so I had given her free range to buy whatever she wants. After months of consistently throwing out spoiled food, while in the store I put my arm around her and said gently in her ear and said "from now on, let's buy the things we are ACTUALLY eating and not the things we think we should eat" that knocked about 50 or 60 off our monthly food budget

Negeen you should do a video on the expense of just moving into an apartment. Like all the fees that they don’t tell you up front. For example how if you sign a lease towards the end of the month they expect you to pay the security deposit, the prorated rent for the remain days in that month, and the rent for next month.

  • @monabiehl6213

I was taught rent should not be more than 25% of income. That's impossible now. 30% is impossible.

I remember watching your 4 reasons why you should live alone video a year ago, the same time I was moving out to live alone. A year later, I'm somehow still doing it. haha Thank you for making these videos because they give me comfort and they make me laugh. I remember having like 2-3k backup saved up for an emergency just in case something happened... ended up buying a computer with it. I've noticed my bank account never decreases but also never increases... I just usually have the same amount each month... its bad. sorry TMI.

I keep all my receipts in a separate wallet, then when I get home I put them in an old fashioned check register I get free at the bank😊 I keep the receipts in a box together for a couple of months for any returns I might make so I get full prices that I paid. When the monthly bank statement comes I chk off the amount in the check register. That's where you will see anything you should not be paying for.

As far as produce groceries, I think it's a matter of stuff you know you get through in a few days for fresh and then for lesser used stuff settle for frozen, canned, jarred or freezing produce or making preserves yourself.

FYI credit cards only build your credit if you pay the balance in full each month. So make sure you're doing that!

Hahahaha I relate to the gift giving part. My moms birthday is the same month as Mother’s Day (and mine) plus my dads birthday is the same month as Father’s Day. It’s too much haha

Felt attacked when you brought up gift giving.
Okay, I'm baby. I'm almost 20, got my license, debit card, and first job after my 19th bday. So inexperienced. Living with mom and dad, not paying bills. Only paying for gas and some groceries I forget to put on the family grocery list. Privileged af. I was a hard-core penny pincher when I started work in the summer, I always made more money than I spent, I was thriving and saving so good. Then November came and I spent half my savings on Christmas gifts. It was my first year having money to buy gifts and I went HAM. now that Christmas is over and I'm not working and making income, I'm back to my penny pinching ways. Besides buying gifts for my husband. Feels good.

You are really a cute advisor for the ones who about to start these things for themselves like early 19-20 age guys early they start better for them.
