Very good idea. I've always hated having to find two locations to jack the car and another to put the jackstand. $300 is pricey though.
Jay, please don't ever stop making these videos, this is great! I honestly think you are the coolest guy in the world!
LOL...Jay asks about price and all he can say is "$299, Very cool" What he is really thinking is *HOLY SH*T That's expensive even for me!!*
When you have several $100K+ cars, you don't care.
Bruce Snow yes you care
the value of a dollar doesn't change no matter how much money you have
@@BruceCSnow not really American made high quality jack stands cost that much. The people buying these aren’t cross shopping wal-mart and harbor freight
Somebody thought $600, but I don’t get crushed because of terrible welding.
oh wow, when he lowers the plate onto the chassis, it's beautiful. i wish i had the money for an elegant solution like this!
Great idea from another person who thinks outside of the box like I do. They have a wider base than most jack stands. This product might actually stop some people from working under a vehicle supported by a hydraulic jack which can roll and sometimes fail and fall. I hope he makes millions from it.
Great to see a homeboy make good. Congratulations and best wishes, Topper!
I agree with some other comments about there isn't sufficient height. These look great for some jobs (brakes for example), but don't allow room to replace a clutch, weld up exhaust, etc.
Absolutely GREAT idea.
Buying a set of jack point jack stands over 2 years ago was an excellent decision as they are totally stable and perfect for use on a modern car such as my Focus ST . My thanks to JOHN Walton for producing the best ever jack stand and for his Kind assistance during the ordering process and shipping to Kuwait .
Always a class act to give jay a sample.
Thanks for the video.
Thanks Jay
Great idea! Few tweaks and make it adjustable, I think it will do well.
What an AWESOME idea !
Great idea!
Brilliant!
I need this !
I'm definitely considering a set.
Excellent!
great idea!
Great idea
Excellent idea an invention an MFG area ! good luck an thanks Jay.
Good idea, but _way_ too expensive.
And that height is surely insufficient.
JAY LENO YOU ARE THE BEST AMERICAN!!! LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!
I *SO* want to support this - great concept, great implementation, simple, USA! etc.... That being said...$299 is really pricey for 2 jack stands. Like, really pricey.
Very cool idea
Good for you Topper!!!!
The jack stands are awesome. Simple, but clever.
I like this idea too. I already purchased a pinch weld adapter for my floor jack ($24), but like previous comments when I use my jack stands I need to get completely under the car in many cases...so I need height also. I never crawl under my cars without stands providing the support.
I like how Jay's intro talks about American made products, but right in front of them is a Chinese made jack from Harbor Freight .
I'll pick up a pair before my next brake job..........soon, its a great product!
brilliant idea might have to try getting some over here (UK)
These videos are addictive.
I like that they hold the car in place and that you can remove the jack from right under the stand, I agree the price is a lil high but, for a new car (like my Charger R/T) these are ideal. I'll be getting a set of these.
very good idea!
You're right. I didn't quite catch that until later in the video.
That is a great product!
That is real deal....thanks guys....
I like it! I do almost everything myself in my garage so the cost savings would eventually pay for these.
I like this!!!
My Tesla mobile mechanic uses these for suspension, brakes, and wheel rotations. It saves them time and is safe and simple to use. Safety was the biggest point of the product.
a simple but great idea
At $300 a pair Jay Leno better come jack up my car for me every time I use them.
A regular set of steel floor jacks is ~$30. If these were even $60/set this guy would sell millions of them. Instead of the few thousand he's going to sell at this ridiculous price point.
It's a shame, I would love to buy 4 of these. But at $600 for two sets is just a stupid amount of money.
People who do their own work on their car typically enjoy the cost savings of doing the work themselves. Anyone willing to pay 600 for two sets would be the type of person to just let the dealership do their work and not care about saving money. Great idea but they are catering to the wrong market.
+mgpvii not nessarily. Even if your not running your own shop at home those would be ideal for farm application or if you do bike repair. :) That is a valid point though.
+Iain B How much is your lift worth to you?
+mgpvii this is for guys with Exotics and low profile European cars
Iain B yup thats why you can now find these in china ... just slighly different
But now I'm your biggest fan I think you're an amazing guy you show so much appreciation towards cars it is fantastic
amazing
That is amassing
Pricy yes, but keep in mind short cuts do costs lives every year. Good fried & former mechanic died 2 years ago when his stand slipped. We all take shortcuts from time to time. Personally, I love the fact an earthquake couldn't disturb the car on stands.
Just when you think no one can invent a better mouse trap....booom! Great product! Thanks for bringing these to more peoples attention.
OK guys, it's expensive, but props-that is friggin' GENIUS. Next level thinking. American ingenuity and he followed through with it to make it happen. We all dream of doing this. One cannot always drag a lift with them. I'm thinking mobile uses-perhaps?
"A pair of them sells for $299." *clicks next video*
They are somewhat reasonably priced for what they are and Low volume production runs.
Pretty much
my favorite part is the $80 pittsburgh jack. 80 jack, 300 for jackstands makes sense.
My life is worth more than $300
@@samuelsholder2789 kinda does actually. The jack lifts the car while you're not under it. The stands prevent you from dying.
All the cars I've worked on had a jack point in the center of front and rear subframes. So I could always lift the car and place the jacks stands under the pinch welds. In case you can't use the subframe, you can jack the car up at the lower control arm pivot points.
This invention needs a price reduction. A saturday mechanic using jack stands isn't in the market to spend $300. And like I said earlier, most people use a different method to achieve the same result.
yeah it's a new idea but height can still be adjusted better with regular jack stands.
Work great on my STI!
That is so ingenious ,
great idea, this would save me loads of time getting mine off the ground!
Cool!
Great tool
they would be good for a lift too
I rented a bay like that back in the late '70's for $5/hr. to change the clutch in my '57 Chevy. Brought the wrong "jack shaft" after pulling the clutch. Talked the next guy in line to give me ride to auto parts store to buy new one. Finished installing clutch and cleaning up in 1 hour flat. Wish I could find a place like that now. All I got is the parking lot where I live and am limited to what I can do. Where do you live if I may ask?
WOW, great product. Why didn't I think of it LOL.
this..is.. INGENIOUS! this guy is a god
Yup, Thats just how i like them
Only problem with these (besides the price) is they are fixed height. The different sized pads is negligible. I'm all for American made, but these days American made usually translates to overrated, overpriced.
theedrstrangelove The idea has potential for sure, but it is just not feasible because number one they are not easily used on multiple vehicles, number 2 they are very expensive, and number three are not adjustable.
Actually, that is a description of a terrible product now that I think of it. LOL
Been using a block of hardwood with a slot for the pinchwelds for the past 32 years and worked fine. people have been using this jack stand idea for decades
Excellent idea, I would love a set but they are out of my price range. I wish him luck though.
It's always a pain finding one spot under the car to jack the car, and another to put the stands, and ramps don't get the car far enough up in the air. Good idea.
great idea. ill keep a tab on him and hope he makes height adjustable...
Great questions about the patents Jay. I bet those are the questions tgat made you who are today. Ask more questiins like that .
Need a video about the Porsche 356 that Jay mentions at the end.
Not much love over the course of the series for Jay's Personal Porsches, though I know that there are at least a couple from background shots. Been around since the beginning, and long before you guys were on youtube.
I like it lot's . that is a good idea. good luck with it.
Genius!
Quite a few of us.
Wouldn't mind having a set of these jacks...Just because, unlike almost EVERYTHING else in our shop, they're made in the USA.
The price is a bit of a turnoff...But the assured quality is a turn on.
Love the idea, they look safer than regular jack stands and there's a price for that. The problem I have is that my hydraulic jack only just gets under the car now, how can this get under a car with the additional plates the hydraulic jack has to have attached to it. Am I missing something here?
Very low clearance jacks are now pretty common, but, the round plates have a slot in them for the car's pinch weld, so you're only decreasing clearance by the bottom of the plate pinch weld slot in the plate, to the the bottom side of the plate.
It's an ingenious idea, because it's a real headache using a trolley jack and then transferring to stands in the correct place.
Hello Jay,
I would like to show other part made in that may improve car's performance.
I think that it would be interesting to see maxwell ultra capacitors cranking one of yours V8. Don't replace dynamo to alternator only, but also battery to ultra capacitors boost pack.
Great idea....$299 is not all the bad of a deal considering they will last forever.
Wouldn't you need 2 of each one of the caps so you could at least jack up both sides of the front or rear of the car? You have to leave the cap in when you move to jack up the other side lol
Really nice lift and stands, a bit pricy but that's what happens with small manufacturers using other people to make their product. Flawless design, looks super sturdy
Are they stackable for storage?
The cost really isn't that bad when you consider a good set of jack stands, as these seem to be, last a lifetime.
smart guy, and anyone can make these .. kool idea
It's a cool idea..
Yankee ingenuity at its best...Love it.
Great! Does it fit a real person's car like a Camry or F-150?
Great product. I am under cars all the time and jack stand placement is always a challenge. Inevitably there is a mechanical conflict between the jack and the jack stand.
As a side note and being rather new to this channel, chirping the subject matter seems very common. What is that all about?
I think that company called "In-A-Pinch-Weld" had a better idea when they made adaptors that weren't metal. But a softer based urethane puck
I believe it was Jay himself in one of his video who says NEVER USE RAMPS. They are NOT safe, and anyone who is doing real work under their car usually likes to get the wheels/tires off and out of the way.
I just wondering if the guy had a crowd funded or bulk purchase setup where if a number of pre-orders are placed, then he could then make them at an affordable price point.
I just cut a slot in an old hockey puck & it works great! But, the additional jack stands are nice.
I think this is more for race teams or people that aren't on a budget. I used a home made wooden jack stand that was heavily reinforced with screws and wood on the A arms and it was fine. Cost me £5 or $10
Awesome, a Harbor Freight Pittsburgh jack!
cool concept. i dislike having to jack my verhicle in one spot, then put the jack stand in another. currently, probably cheaper to purchase a second jack though. however, this is probably the way of the future though. best of luck to this gentleman.
Would be nice to have seen it in action also instead of all of the links to your own promotion maybe put a link for the product.
Great idea, but the fixed height and bulk may be a problem
I'd rather have four $80.00- $100.00 floor jacks that lock in place in case the hydraulics fail. Then just leave them in place until your done.
Other idea, become member of a DIY car repair shop where there is a car lift.
What is their website?
This is a great idea. The cost is a bit much, even for something made in the states. My biggest hurdle, however, is that I don't believe that plate is low enough to get clearance for the car that's the biggest hassle for me. I do wish them success, however! It's a legitimately good idea.
The plate has a slot in it. I have a Lincoln Town Car, and these plates and my bulky, cheap jack would fit under it with no problem.
Is there a pad that fits for cars with a square point with a square indentation? Like, say for a 95 Ford Windstar?
Nice, i definetly hate it when i have to jack up my car in the wrong area, or i wont be able to get the jack stand in there. The soft black stuff underneath the car just bends and cracks. No good.
Only problem i see is you don't have true control over the height of the jackstand itself. They need to work on that and come up with some way you can adjust it, without having to buy more pads.
