Thank you sooooooo much I am young and in school and no one cares about my stuff even if it is a very expensive drone now I can have my stuff protected.
hello Important info that I am missing from your video - WHAT MODEL Pelican is it that you are working on ? Is it s 1510 , or a 1560 ? I am guessing it is a 1560 - but can you pls confirm ??
Slight challegening when plucking away for items which were not in a case. In my situation was limited for space, I fitted the lens vertically lens cap (logo) face up. I had to pluck out the min into the first layer and copy that to the second layer, then pluck away more from the first layer. Bit long winded but it worked for me. 🙂
No worries! You can use Gorilla Glue (get the thick gel stuff so it doesn’t run) or rubber cement (let both sides try them stick them together like tape). Just don’t use hot glue or latex, as it will melt the foam.
hi Sidney. Thanks a lot. It was super useful. I used matches instead and just flipped them upside down when I made a new square. Anyway worked a charm!
After years i went with the trekpak system- i can rearrange it easily if needed- after replacing just 2 sets of foam its about the same cost + you gain a large amount of space the foam took up also
I just got a trekpak set for my little pelican after you mentioned this. I think I like it better already for things that don't need a lot of cushion. It's a really slick system.
You’re welcome! Everyone has their own teaching style. I’m quite passionate about film education so that might come across in how I instruct. :) But glad to supplement your learning on the side.
@@sidneyreed My second half of the comment was more me saying damn i've never had a professor this pretty (respectfully) ahah but yes it's very calming and digestible the way you explain things, and i feel that creates an environment where students are comfortable in asking questions, trying new things, messing up, which is moreso important in a field like film I'd argue.
What were the foam glue you were suggesting? I didn't see it in your description. Love the video. I'm having trouble when I pull anything out the whole foam comes out
When you order the pelican, usually you can click the option to add it in. If not, you can always order it from them separately. I think it's around $100 depending on the size.
Trust me guys, all I have is flat foam without plugs, and what I'm looking for is how to make holes, small squares, with minimal tools but still neat and precise 😂
This was an excellent film. Followed it exactly to set my pelican case up just now. Thanks
Love the toothpicks idea! Using it now for my first Pelican case foaming. :)
Perfect...! Everything I needed to know. Thanks, Sidney Reed!
Very clever! Thanks!
Great video! Any issues with humidity?
Great tips! What is the pelican case model you have in the video? thanks!

Great quality video. Feeling confident with getting my first case after this.

Perfect, was looking for a video that detailed how to use pick and pluck in the real world, cheers Sidney.
Thank you for the tutorial :)

This should have many more views.
Hi Sidney, great video! Mind sharing the foam-safe glue options as they aren't mentioned in the description?

Thanks for the video; actually needed this for a trip.
wow so simple but amazing trick replacing the foam
Thank you SIdney!. Directions were perfect, I just finished my first case.

Matches are a great idea also! Yeah it's all about plotting that grid out first. Glad to have helped.
@@sidneyreed you definitely did ! It's quite satisfying to have a nicely plotted out case 😂
Technically, Im your 100th subscriber !!
Thank you! This was a very easy to follow tutorial. The toothpicks is a good tip.
Quick question….when flying, do you check your camera case or carry on?
I’m actually editing a Short about this! So look out this week for it. I explain how I travel with everything.
@@sidneyreed Awesome……can’t wait to see it.
Thank you. This is very helpful
My 1640 case broke bad! Reached out to Pelican and they replaced it!
This was a great tutorial. Thanks for clearing that up.
Glad it was helpful!
I want to make a case for my valve index gear. Im intimidated as index controllers are a very irregular shape
This worked great! And I found I could buy similar foam for my old Nanuk case too!
+1 for the zoom f1

alright, so i subscribed already...hope yer proud of yourself
Apply "Plasti Dip" so to protect the foam a little. Looks a little bit better too.
Nice video!
so many good nuggets, thank you for this!
also i must be doing something wrong because none of my profs are like this 😢

Added to the description box! Buy it here on Amazon for about $3 - amzn.to/3CGQqto
I need to buy a new foam pack and recut it for my new camera.
Nice video. Very useful. :)
Or just create Coroplast and Foam dividers. Cheaper, higher quality and highly customizable
Where to buy the foam?

So informative, and you look so good on camera. Should definitely upload more👌👍
is this a matrioska?
It might turn out that she really just use this to transfer her color toothpicks.
Thank you for this video/ Sub’d 👍🏻
is that the 1620?
You are correct! My voice over was wrong (I foamed 6 cases that day). Good catch.
@@sidneyreed great video, could post the foam glue you talked about? Thanks

i dont think that is a pelican case. i think its the amazon brand.
Tried this with non colored toothpicks it was a disaster
Im wondering why it makes a difference using color toothpicks. What happened?
FULL Tutorial of what?
Too much effort - I’ll just stick to think tank.
Thank you this was very helpful.
