I love how women can wear the most revealing clothes and it’s acceptable in society because it’s their choice but Muslim women who wear modest clothes aren’t acceptable in society because it’s their choice to cover up. Like we respect your religion so respect ours. Plus nuns also wear modest clothes but no one is rude to them so why are you being so rude to Muslim people who also wear modest clothes? Maybe the Quran doesn't say to beat someone for not following rules, but creating inequality between male vs female modesty and in other aspects definitely can make some people think they are entitled to police women with violence. To the contrary, in societies influenced culturally by other beliefs noone will be violent to a nun for not dressing modestly, or to a less covered woman if she starts to dress modestly suddenly. So, for me as long as there is violence against women tied to this type of clothing, I see it as a symbol of support to said violence. Especially since it goes overboard to what is actually mandated by your scripture and is therefore man imposed limitation on the freedom of, well, existing in your own skin. If someone has sexual thoughts about women existing in the open, let him wear blinders instead. Edit: Also, how can lesbians born to these societies see women but not make a fuss about it? The first time I saw a woman wearing this in real life, it was at the beach, when I was a kid. She walked into the ocean as is while her husband and little boy bathed shirtless, while wearing beach shorts. Everything clung to her when she got out. It looked so heavy, it highlighted her shape anyway. I think about that memory from time to time. And wondered if it was one of the earliest influences to my atheism

You don’t know who is underneath, they are essentially anonymous, and it’s hard to hear them speak too. You can’t see their facial expression or emotions. Separated from true human connection. Answering questions for all the people who are spreading hate about HER dressing which she wore with her own will. 1) "why dont muslim men have to wear clothing like this?" Men are instructed to cover their body from neck to legs as well. They also have a clothing called a "thobe" in arabic. And they HAVE to lower their gaze. Its important to remember men have many rules that women dont (not wearing jewellery, growing a beird etc), and vice versa. 2) "i CANT imagine wearing this on a sunny day outside and inside my house" Firstly, you dont have to wear any of this in the house unless you have a MALE guest. Even in that case you only have to cover hair and neck and chest. Secondly, dont worry about muslim women. They choose to wear it themselves and they know how to handle such situations. 3) "she is being forced/opressed!!" No shes literally not. She CHOSE to dress the way she did. And it was her decision to go an extra mile and cover her hand and face but she wasnt forced by anyone. She is literally doing this for herself and keeping herself safe. The fabric is light weight and breathable and it was actually used by arabs in old times times for cooling and for protection from desert's sand and sun's heat, Covering hair and body(hijab) is mandatory but if you don't want to do it then it's your choice, covering face (Niqab) isn't mandatory and you can choose to wear it if you want extra modesty and good deeds, And thank you for your respectful comment 😊❤

Im a Muslim girl and I can say you don't have to wear so much under the abaya brooo it can be so warm outside I just wear a short or smt under my abaya and sometimes a T-shirt when you can see something under my abaya. And then I have a normal hijab that covers my chest and I'm new to the abaya I wore jeans and all before I'm 13 yrs old I started to wear the hijab at the 5th grade my parents told me I can wear it in the 6 or 7th grade .

Well it depends. On hot days we wear light colours, light and airy materials, and less layers if possible. If worst comes to worse and something does actually happen which I've never seen nor heard of since it's fine if we just do what I said in the beginning, they just take it off. We westerners put so much into what we CAN see, that when we come across something like this, it’s unsettling to some. Rather than automatically assuming, judging based on one’s appearance, the Muslim way of dressing forces others to have to “look” past the appearance and get to know them for their personality rather than what they look like. The Qur'an instructs Muslim women and men to dress modestly, and for some, the hijab is worn by Muslim girls and women to maintain modesty and privacy from unrelated males. Muslim Men also have a dress code, not just women. And this is not the only type of thing muslim women can wear, she is wearing a Burka.

Literally. This is the type of clothes that you would see women wear in 11th century Saudi Arabia, not 21st century America. People stop arguing about her abaya. It is not mandatory in religion to be covered up to her extent. But I know many sisters who do for their own person reasons. A few have become muslim but do not want to be hasseled, some feel safer as they are shy and do not like being checked out by men. Some do it because they believe it makes them feel more modest. I love how women can wear the most revealing clothes and it’s acceptable in society because it’s their choice but Muslim women who wear modest clothes aren’t acceptable in society because it’s their choice to cover up. Like we respect your religion so respect ours. Plus nuns also wear modest clothes but no one is rude to them so why are you being so rude to Muslim people who also wear modest clothes? Maybe the Quran doesn't say to beat someone for not following rules, but creating inequality between male vs female modesty and in other aspects definitely can make some people think they are entitled to police women with violence. To the contrary, in societies influenced culturally by other beliefs noone will be violent to a nun for not dressing modestly, or to a less covered woman if she starts to dress modestly suddenly. So, for me as long as there is violence against women tied to this type of clothing, I see it as a symbol of support to said violence. Especially since it goes overboard to what is actually mandated by your scripture and is therefore man imposed limitation on the freedom of, well, existing in your own skin. If someone has sexual thoughts about women existing in the open, let him wear blinders instead.

Answering questions for all the people who are spreading hate about HER dressing which she wore with her own will.

Men are instructed to cover their body from neck to legs as well. They also have a clothing called a "thobe" in arabic. And they HAVE to lower their gaze. Its important to remember men have many rules that women dont (not wearing jewellery, growing a beird etc), and vice versa.

Firstly, you dont have to wear any of this in the house unless you have a MALE guest. Even in that case you only have to cover hair and neck and chest.
Secondly, dont worry about muslim women. They choose to wear it themselves and they know how to handle such situations.

No shes literally not. She CHOSE to dress the way she did. And it was her decision to go an extra mile and cover her hand and face but she wasnt forced by anyone. The fabric is light weight and breathable and it was actually used by arabs in old times times for cooling and for protection from desert's sand and sun's heat,
Covering hair and body(hijab) is mandatory but if you don't want to do it then it's your choice, covering face (Niqab) isn't mandatory and you can choose to wear it if you want extra modesty and good deeds,

Im a Muslim girl and I can say you don't have to wear so much under the abaya brooo it can be so warm outside I just wear a short or smt under my abaya and sometimes a T-shirt when you can see something under my abaya. And then I have a normal hijab that covers my chest and I'm new to the abaya I wore jeans and all before I'm 13 yrs old I started to wear the hijab at the 5th grade my parents told me I can wear it in the 6 or 7th grade .

I’m all for modesty and covering your body if that’s how you feel, I just wish more women did it for themselves and stopped buying into religions that have spent centuries manipulating and indoctrinating women to do exactly what THEY want. Man cannot accurately carry out Gods word, if you think they can you have been indoctrinated. I don’t want to shame anyone who has faith is spiritual beings, but I just feel it’s common sense when these religions mainly benefit the men in power, not “God” nor, “Allah”. You clearly misunderstood the religion, we both have an Islamic dress code, men from navel to knee, and shoulders covered, obviously, loose fitted clothing, they just choose to not follow it, because Muslims went extinct, and a lot of Muslim women also choose to not abide by Islamic dress code either. There’s a difference in opinion about niqab btw, and no your wrong, Islam is all about Allah, it was never about men, isn’t about men, and never will be.
sister, who said they are doing it because men want it that way, i would even say that the majority of men would like so see women with less clothing, don’t you think so? the reasons why people and a lot of women still choose to follow this specific religion is not because of oppression. there are soo many beautiful sides to this religion, you could spend an entire life educating yourself about islam and would still find so many beautiful things and messages. it was the first religion that actually gave women rights at a time when not even the west (europe/US) did that. this religion tried to eliminate unfairness and have people treat others rightful and to be an idol for others so that they would leave their immorality behind and choose to live a graceful live in the name of only one god. If you dare to do it i advise you to read a legitimate book that tries to give a view of the prophets life and what the core goal of islam is. it might change your life or maybe it will be an enlightening new view on the religion millions freely choose to believe in.

Well it depends. On hot days we wear light colours, light and airy materials, and less layers if possible. If worst comes to worse and something does actually happen which I've never seen nor heard of since it's fine if we just do what I said in the beginning, they just take it off. But they'd probably take it off in a more private area

We westerners put so much into what we CAN see, that when we come across something like this, it’s unsettling to some. Rather than automatically assuming, judging based on one’s appearance, the Muslim way of dressing forces others to have to “look” past the appearance and get to know them for their personality rather than what they look like. Literally. This is the type of clothes that you would see women wear in 11th century Saudi Arabia, not 21st century America. I respect niqabis and I think they’re pretty but covering to THIS amount to avoid attention from men just doesn’t seem right in my opinion. It’s way too excessive. This doesn’t seem like a modern day thing either. Also the niqab isn’t even related with Islam nor is it compulsory. It’s from the Arab culture.

People stop arguing about her abaya. It is not mandatory in religion to be covered up to her extent. But I know many sisters who do for their own person reasons.
A few have become muslim but do not want to be hasseled, some feel safer as they are shy and do not like being checked out by men. Some do it because they believe it makes them feel more modest. Everyone has their own reasons. How about you ask her before judging or insulting her.
