Im so weak.. I was in jail two weeks and i wanted to die! Never again. Idc what happens to me im never breaking the law again.. I lost so much weight and cried everyday. It was one of the worst times in my life. God saved me and set me on the correct path. Forever grateful. 💖

Trevor is a great person. Seeing these women as people instead of just an "addict" or whatever their crime was. Like he asked the young woman if she had a drug dependency, not asking "are you a drug addict". The world needs more Trevors.
You gotta love how these corrections officers defended the actions of their corrupt and now imprisoned colleague. "He was having problems at home" and "Pender manipulated him", "she preyed on him"...... face the facts: Spitler was greedy, placed making money above his duties as a CO, he was corrupt to the core, and he helped a convicted murderer escape. There's no defending that. Period.

Trevor is in a league of his own. Informative, compassionate, great listener and yet asking questions that need to be asked.
That's how he gets good interviews. He's talking to felons like they're in his kitchen having tea.
He has zero personality. And is dry. No response to the answers and just keeps an awkward demeanor asking the next question. More personality would make for a better watch
He also has a way of asking questions where it is respectful yet he gets his answers.
He's naive, thus the Q&A is weak.

The reaction of the PO is truly amazing. You would think that there was never a corrupt prison official ever.
I watched a show where the officer's were bringing in all the contraband in they would bring in cigarettes a carton then sell it to inmates for a thousand bucks,then the inmate would tear the cigarette down to get two out of it they would sell them for five dollars each.
God, they made that officer that helped her escape sound like a blameless child. He’s a full grown man who knew exactly what he was doing. Quit trying to baby talk the reporter about what he did.

I can guarantee that Sir Trevor wasn't at all fooled.
I'm not American, but my understanding of their system is that technically he's a r@*ist. Inmates are essentially wards of the state, and being in such a position of power makes it an offense to have seggs with them if you're a guard. I mean my working is probably way wrong. But it's such 💩 they make him such a victim.
He was manipulated by 'Peter' who resides between his legs...
Interviewer: "So, the bullet hit her in the face."
Prisoner: "Yes!"
"She preyed on him". Please, he used and manipilated her just as much as she used and manipulated him. Poor little officer fell in love and was blinded.

The one female corrections officer was defending the guy that helped her escape talking about how he was vulnerable well if they knew he was vulnerable then he shouldn't have been in the position he was in in the first place you have to know how to leave your emotions at the door.. never bring your home life to work and never bring you work home
He is just as guilty as her. He was a C.O. and he took advantage of a female prisoner. He is not as innocent as they make him out to be.
He is completely responsible for their intimate relationship. Officers are there to protect inmates. There is a lopsided balance of power.
Inmates are unable to consent to relationships with correctional officers because of the power imbalance. Essentially inmates are victims when these sexual relationships happen. Even though the correctional officer was sentenced to prison, It amazes me that we also punish the victim, simply because they are an inmate.
What I find disturbing about all these women is they find it funny or amusing that they committed crimes as if they were proud of themselves for it. They don't seem to have a grip on reality.

Nor do they even care for the kids they left at home to deal with their mothers crimes. So unfair. Those children need families that know right from wrong and ate stable.
That young girl with 2 girls are in no way, mother material or her mother. Pray her girls are happy and safe.
I was in Indiana Girls School, Women’s Prison AND Rockville. There were PLENTY of officers and staff quite willing to do bad with little girls and women who had nothing but their wit and wiles to get out of a jam. I’ll tell you this much… I’ve been out 24 years and am never going back although I still have nightmares about it.

Anyone notice in the end interview with Sarah Pender she had to make herself cry when Trevor asked about the victims but she recovered super fast, then he asked about the sentence she received and then the tears fell like rain!! What a monster!!
I noticed that, too. I would not go so far as to say she is a Manson level manipulator but she talks about being duped into the double murder then helps to put the bodies in a dumpster at the very least. And she successfully manipulated and used a guard to escape- yeah, not going back to the old drawing board to commit crimes there???? She is not a serial killer per say, no one was killed in the 4 months she escaped. But, she did not have enough time. She is where she belongs to protect other people from her.

Noticed exactly the same thing. She pretended to cry about the victims’ families and there were no tears. However like a true psychopath she shed real tears over her own punishment.
@@annapalmer8064 I think it's just that she's more educated. She has 5 years of college. Another 6 or 7 years she will have a degree in manipulation. All that education but rather than ask people to move out or hire a lawyer, she bought a gun for a felon & helped disposed of the bodies - she's smart. In 30 yrs- PhD.
I say that she IS a Manson level psychopath. The only difference was that Manson grew up in jails and wasn't very smart. He had no social Grace's, nor the ability to act civilized around people.
This lady was raised more conventually, went to college etc. BUT,. she COULD function in society and blend in. Those are the only differences. Both her and Manson masterminded their killings. Both her and Manson manipulated those who could do the killings. The only difference is that Manson had 7-8 people killed, she had 2. Manson manipulated many in his Family, but never manipulated a prison guard to drive him out..although I believe he had an escape or 2 under his belt. She never manipulated anyone to try to assassinate a sitting POTUS. My point is that there are differences BUT the behavior is exactly the same. If she needed to or wanted to...she easily could've manipulated enough people to kill 20. A psychopath, is a psychopath, is a psychopath.
I feel sorry for the 9 year old girl, Melissa, the one that told her mother to "keep your head up", wow...poor girl.
But Paula also said, “I’m honest with my kids,” I’m presuming Melissa has known, on some conscious level, that her mother is an addict; and from what i know of addicts, it’s a daily choice.

I STRONGLY disagree! He’s dull! Every interview ends up being non-conclusive, nor does he ever encourage them to strive to do better. He also doesn’t really challenge their answers to his questions. Like the one who tried to say it is just a false reputation that she is a manipulator. He should have said, “Yet, you DID manipulate that correctional officer to aid you in escaping, did you not?”

God, these ladies don’t realize how valuable their lives are, they are wasting them, so sad, and some have kids, I definitely have been fortunate to have been raised in a wonderful family and in a beautiful area of the country. Good luck to these ladies, I hope things get better.😢

If he had interviewed them away from other inmates they would have been more real. Having been incarcerated I can tell within one sentence which ones are sociopaths and the ones that have a conscience. But, if they acted soft and remorseful that would make them a target.
Not only that but human contact w anyone outside of there is a gift for them. I don't think they are proud but you are seeing them w out drugs etc that could have led to this behavior. What was their life? What were there role models, support? A lot have no one to look to for the right behavior or to make goals led a normal life. If you only know chaos that is what your life will be.
I love Trevor as a person and Interviewer. He brings so much humility to ever situation.

I am a veteran that has been in the shelter system and this prison seems delightful.
The VA has a program for helping homeless Vets to find shelter and also has programs to get them permanent help to get a start... contact your local VA Hospital or Clinic for details.
I'm a Veteran , I hate when people like you try to use us against other people. I'll bet that you have never done one thing for homeless vets , you also probably vote Republican, the party that always votes down programs for Vets but like you is quick to use us against other marginalized populations.

It's not the prison, as in a building, you must worry about. It's the 100+ women in your block you watch out for. I've been there. We're not locked in at night so you learn to sleep with one eye open.
Its not just women, America imprisons more people than any other country. Most prisons are also privately owned, it's more of a money system rather than a prison system.
It's about your choices !
Who's fault is that? If p*nheads wouldn't commit crimes and harm innocent people, they wouldn't get sent to prison. People need to quit blaming the prison systems in the US and admit it's the awful, impulsive choices these scumbags make that put them in these institutions!

The system benefits from the belief that incarceration is simply about personal choices, rather than being designed as a for-profit organization. Unfortunately, many people are forced into terrible plea agreements because they cannot afford to fight their charges, and the conditions in county jails often make a prison sentence sound like a way out.
Consider everything you stand to lose financially during and after your sentence, including housing, assets, and jobs. You may also lose your social support network, making it even harder to rebuild your life after release. Even after serving your sentence, you still have to pay court fees and obtain basic necessities like housing and employment, all while facing discrimination from employers, landlords, and banks. Remember, you're not able to save up any money in prison.
The process of adjusting to life after imprisonment is incredibly challenging, and minor offenses resulting from trying to meet basic financial needs, can lead to a return to prison. While some individuals deserve to be in prison, when prison becomes a life sentence regardless of the crime committed, the system is broken.

In some parts of the world the CO's are almost as bad as the bad prisoners. Also there's no such thing as a consensual relationship between a guard and prisoner,not really. The prisoner has few alternatives and is trapped in the location against their will.
That facility looks pretty new. It's in much better condition than the women's prison in NJ that is over 100 years old.
Great documentary, it learned me a lot. Compared to the US, prisons in the Netherlands are hotels.

From what most people have been in jails will tell u, most CO's dont need much persuading to break the law. If they get a cut of something, they will cut u a break for smaller stuff. He was in a position of power and she was a prisoner - end of story. Of course prisoners are going to try to play the CO's...thats what they do!

I was at Rockville ( the town) and I found out it is overrun with drugs and the local motel was shut down so I didn't stay there. It did have a nice little downtown area. Sad. This was before I knew there was a prison there several years back, too.
That one violent, angry girl, Addy Hawks, had a child when she was 16. And her mother was in prison. How much you want to bet one or both of her kids goes to prison also?

I noticed he didn't ask the names of the two darker black women who were seated at the table with Addy or the one who was seated with her the first time he spoke with her. He didn't even acknowledge their presence. I wonder if this is that he didn't have permission to speak with them or did he just feel their name and story is not important because... Just an observation.

I believe there is a bit more desperation behind the laughs that one might think. I feel it is coping for the most part as not too fall apart. Some sort of denial.
