"Tax free" made me laugh. They expect him to fill out a 1099
I don't care what decade it is. There's ALWAYS someone looking into "loopholes ".
As you should. If your not the predator you’re the prey.
in 1990 I was with a friend who we went to see a lawyer who told me There are loop holes in the stystem they were put there for us to find and ever since--I looked for legal loop holes and sure enough--I found plenty.. I did not break the law--I used the Law to my benefit.. Sad many folks have no idea how simple.. it is many laws put out specifically for us..
This is why a global prison is in the making. With loopholes only for insiders.
The punchline "THEN HE RAN FOR PRESIDENT!🎉🎉😂😅😂
The greatest Con Artist is Donald Trump look what he managed to do to an entire nation with Russia and China help.

Then? He's ALWAYS running... for pres or whatever, or even from the truth!
As an American, I totally believe 911 was an inside job! I know, off topic but I do believe it!
How can someone get 20 years in prison for petty crimes but a scammer steals millions and only get 40 months
Or murderers get set free or only get 3 years in prison
Simple, it came out of Seattle, a liberal safe haven where crooks are in charge.
What is a " scammer " , if you don't mind me ask8ng ??
@@dewalt4595 A scammer is a conman, a trickster, a fraudster.
@@dewalt4595 Someone that is selling something like a product or service yet when the customer pays for that service or product the person selling the product takes the money and never delivers what they were selling.

Been loving this program for many decades.
I love the moment he recognized who he was trying to hustle 😂
That jailhouse con artist is pretty ingenious. Got to give the guy his props. Still, I'd love to see Law Enforcement go after Big Businesses that con employees/consumers.
Yeah, we'll that will happen... never. Don't bite the hand that feeds you and all.
Nothing geniuses in this. Most people don’t want to think of ways to be a crook

Well the stove has to be fed but I doubt the stove will be changed by the wood. Reverse metaphor?
The credit card jail guy was funny as hell even though he’s robbing people blind.

It's not just cars....I've been burned so many times by used equipment.
You probably have joe biden on yo mind
I love his Gulf Coast accent. You don't hear many like that in the Houston area anymore. There's a saying in Houston, "...dirty as a Washington Ave used car salesman."
Love the way guys dressed in the early 90s. leather jackets, tight blue jeans, mustaches, aviators
nowadays when you wear that.... someway, somehow, a boomer appears out of nowhere, yells "SKINNY JEANS" and calls you a metrosexual
That was mid to late 80s actually

My father was as honest as they come. He grew up with strict morals on a ranch. Everyone hated dad at the Ford dealership, except the owner. Dad wouldn't sell hardly anything all year long, but once every year like clockwork all the ranchers, and farmers Pops grew up with drove into town specifically to trade-in their old trucks for new ones, and they refused to do any business with anyone else. He hated the job which gave him nose bleeds, headaches, high blood pressure, and he started drinking. Eventually the toxic work environment killed him at the ripe old age of 41 of a massive heart attack. No good deed ever goes unpunished they say.
Wish the world had more good men like him. RIP
Your Dad was young still those times were hard working 💪 people I'm sure you'll all didn't realize that was on your Dad health issues I'm sure he was a greatest father ❤️ 💙 life's matter some time it's better to find another job rest in peace 🙏 🪦

we had a cadillac dealer in huntsville alabama do that. he did 7 years in prison and is not allowed back in our state.
I'm from Houston and this explains why a lot of those "MOJO" car lots are gone off of 45 North. I left Houston in `95, came back in 5yrs later and they were gone. 90% of those car lots were used ones. It's all new car lots now with used ones. Wow.
When nearly everyone who does business with Americans demands a social security number or refuses your service
In the modern world 🌎
You're forced against your will to do it in order to live.
But these same businesses of every kind get hacked daily, and criminals get you social security numbers, and you are the victim of an unjust system
When I got a social security number, it said do not share, do not use as I.D. so what happened.
I very seldom had to ever give it to any enity till I was 50 years old.
Now it seems that to do about 40% of transactions and as high as 90%, I'm am forced to do so against my will to survive.
It's wrong.
They should give scammers life in prison
If that was even possible, an entire continent would be turned into a gigantic prison.

“You’d think the IRS would notice they sent thousands of checks to the same address”…. 😂 No… No you wouldn’t..
Crooks are everywhere of course, but it’s disappointing to see there are people like this in Texas, even if this is 30+ years ago.
So long as there are ignorant people in the world, and people without consciences willing to take advantage of them, these scams will continue. Humankind is not evolving quickly enough to avoid this core truth.

You can usually tell by the wear on the brake pedal.
Just like corporations, they don't pay taxes on their income.
I love how bill Wallace shut down the US Seattle Attorney when she tells him “there’s a process” and he shows her that this company single handedly was able to do everything that the government was taking their time on 😅
Insurance companies require your milage reading quite often and there is a record of it.some actually inspect the car and it's milage. Those records could be made available to buyers.
Hi, this happened to me. My passenger light came on and never went off. I had to pay DMV in NC Edgecombe county pay $100.00. If I had kept driving, I would have been killed. It was a Hyundai Elantra 2018, black 4 door. I told them to come and get it, they did, but called it repossession. As a educator and veteran spouse, I called Raleigh DMV in Raleigh NC. I completed a form sent to me, by Hyundai, and now await a check for $3000.00 because of under handed sells tactics. It happens all the time, believe me!
The legends will truly go down in history ❤
Yes and we need more harsh penalties when you’re caught. 40 months is not a deterrent for doing this. Watching Tahiti’s infuriating. The honor system era is over. Too many scammers exit today to trust anyone with access to such a convenient way to collect cash. This should be a minimum of 10 years. 40 months is a joke.
Way to go 60 minutes!
Is that Rosco from .... Duke of ...😁😅
The district court determined the amount of loss per car as $4,000 and calculated the total amount of loss as $6,000,000. It thus added fourteen levels to the base offense level for amount of loss. The court added two levels for more than minimal planning; four levels for Whitlow’s role as an organizer or leader; and two levels for obstruction of justice. The district court subtracted two levels for acceptance of responsibility and arrived at a total offense level of 26. The court sentenced Whitlow to four concurrent 36-month sentences and concurrent 60- and 84-month sentences. It also prohibited Whitlow from employment in the used-car industry while on supervised release.
Turns out a clerical error left his license suspended when it was supposed to be reinstated. So the judge had erroneous information the guy is not a dimming but a victim in this case.
It's very hard to roll back odometers today.

Setting back miles on odometers is still common today.

Great episode👍
The creator should mention that this episode is about 28 years old.
I have heard the corny line "a little old lady owned this car. she only drove it a couple times per month!" at least 6 times.
They're still rolling back milege, mine was at Ford Motor Co in Batdstown, KY.
Here's the funny thing. Some countries do the tax for you. They even send you a statement on how the tax money was spent. There is never an issue with that system. But in the U.S., this is a way to keep poor people poor.
Can't erase the miles off the ECM. Always have an ASE certified mechanic examine a used car before purchase.
The guards can take away all the phones they want and it will still go on. There are more cell phones in jails and prisons today it will never stop.
Basically they did take away all the phones, but yeah now they have similar problems with cell phones. Why can't the corrections facilities just signal block the contraband phones ?
@@markcraven8386 maybe the correction facilities are in on it?? 😂

40:03 This guy is like a combination between Steve Buscemi and William H Macy 😅
This is a decades old show. I’m wondering if this still possible with newer electronic odometers and computerized title/registration records which often record odometer miles and ability to catch this nefarious practice.
I will watch every episode of the new Dukes of Hazard with Bill Whitlow
44:36 Amazing that these scams have changed only in form, not in tactics.
I wonder if Holder had to wait in line for hours like everyone else to prove his identity
First thing to look at is wear and tear on brake and gas pedals.
Yeah … the smart ones clean those up or replace them.
Is always Greenspoint man😂😂😂
Nowadays, they pull the interior out, throw an old bezel in, run it for 300,000 miles and then put everything back in. This is so old fashioned, its a waste of time

Taxpayers can get a separate unique security number from the IRS that is mailed to them each year and must be included on their annual tax return (as a second factor authentication) for the return to be accepted by the IRS. I'm surprised 60 Minutes didn't mention that solution to the identity theft problem.
I have been told that real identity verification will be required by May 2025 to enter any Gov. building . Is this true and how is it going to be implemented ? How do we go about proving our identity if license and SS #'s aren't enough?
