Very cool, I'm amazed to see them doing so well. I wonder have you thought about going on a Ischnocolus valentinus hunt? I'm not sure of the distribution but supposedly on the Spanish Mediterranean coast so possibly in Southern France?

They live in southern Spain and Italy, but not France unfortunately. I’ll go looking for them if ever I’m in range.

I would love to put together a captive breeding program for the B. Xambeui species, but unfortunately, any significant interest in the pet trade would cause all sorts of poaching activity. What a fascinating example of a species evolving to perfectly fit into its niche.

We should seek federal protection of this species first. I think captive breeding for this species could be quite beneficial, but not if it is done by/for the hobby.

@@GeneralApathy I strongly agree on the federal protection. Unfortunately, conservation efforts don't tend to appeal to politicians, since they afford minimal political capital. I'm on the fence about it being done by the hobby, however. On the one hand, the more folks actively breeding them, the better for the numbers and long term survival of the species. On the other hand, the aforementioned poaching activities, which are unconscionable at best, and devastating to the species at worst.

Hey man, really like the videos. I've been wanting to do some similar hunting here in SD California. Unfortunately I've been unable to figure out what types of locations, or more specific locations to check. Any pointers?

Thank you. I’ve never gone looking for anything in the San Diego area despite having lived there for most of my childhood, so I am not the person to ask. Just outside of SD is Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, and that I can highly recommend for you to visit if you haven’t already.
