    Woah. I'm a spider nerd in the bay area and I thought we had brown recluses. Your adventures look like so much fun, I didn't realize we had such cool species.

      This species does not extend any further west than Texas if I am not mistaken.

    How the heck do scorpions molt out their pinchers... seems like be very hard, if you could do a time-lapse of scorpion molt that would be amazing.

      I'll do a time-lapse if the opportunity presents itself or, rather, if I don't miss the opportunity. The old exoskeleton has some flexibility after the scorpion has separated from it internally, and the new exoskeleton, which is still soft during this process, is even more flexible.

    I saw a camel spider in my tent when I was on holiday in the Sahara. It was really cool and had black rings around its forelimbs but I don't know exactly what spider it was.

    Hey question for you
    Any of these scorpions in nor California
    Any of them have venom strong enough to hispitalize an adult? Awesome content thank you.

    • @GeneralApathy
      @GeneralApathy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are no native scorpion species in Northern California capable of hospitalizing an adult unless said adult has an allergic reaction. However, there are a couple of unconfirmed records of introduced Centruroides spp. showing up in NorCal cities.

    Have you ever experienced anything weird while your out at night like any weird sounds or just anything weird ?

    • @GeneralApathy
      @GeneralApathy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Many times. The night seems to amplify the presence of the strange and unknown.

    the t. Californicus spider at the end has some smaller relatives that have absolutely invaded my house.
    southern utah, they get about 3/4 the size and they have absolutely no fear of people, especially problematic when they run for cover in the shower. I do not like them >:(

    1:57 TH-cam's compression of darkness sucks but I'm going to guess this is Veromessor spp.

    How long does it usually take to find all the stuff that was in the video

    • @GeneralApathy
      @GeneralApathy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It highly depends. Sometimes I'm out for the day and other times I'm out for an hour. I was out for 2-3 hours while shooting this video.
