Adam, nice video. One comment you made about spark plugs that were hard to remove I have always used anti seize on the threads to prevent that issue. Aluminum heads are the most prone to thread damage. Permatex makes a good one and does not damage catalyst converters. The spark plugs come out real easy the next time. Thanks for making videos of your repairs/service
I'll have to try that one! I always put anti seize on my V12s and older engines that don't have catalytic converters. Didn't want to hurt this "modern" car. Thanks for watching!
thank you adam. great video. very straight forward and to the point. i found it to be very useful. I look forward to any new videos you make on this particular make and model.
You mentioned to check and ensure no oil was on the coils or spark plugs. What do you do if there was oil present? Would this be a valve cover gasket or spark plug tube seal and what would you have to do to fix it? Thanks and great video I'm about to be changing the coils and plugs in my 2000 3.0 s type.
Hi great channel and great video, I have a 2001 s type, what I would love to know is how did you get the dash board error codes to come up, many thanks Anthony
did all, ran terrible when I started it up. please emphasize putting the small vacuum hose at the rear of the engine back on. now runs great. Much thanks.
You Vikings and your longbolts! Anyway, I've just got myself a lovely 2000 Jaguar S-Type with a 3-litre V6, and I'll be looking at your channel often. I'll also be creating a channel chronicling my adventures with the car, and hopefully it'll help me pay for its upkeep. Unfortunately, as it's under a warranty, there's a limit to how much DIY I can do with it.
I have the V8 version which will have a bit of oil dripping down into the spark plug channel because of a leaking oil cover and sometimes moisture. Save your money, take off the coil plugs and measure the ohms. Should be around 3 to 7 ohms which means they are fine. Clean out all of the oil, moisture inside and outside of the coil plug. Squeeze some clear silicone gel inside the coil cavity. Done, I've gone 40,000 without misfires.
I have an 2002 S type which has a faulty Knock sensor (LH), so I have to remove the intake manifold too... I already ordered the Spark Plugs, coils and the Knock sensor, but I'm thinking of changing the Seals and vaccum pipes. I have 140k on it, last inspection was at 120k by an Jag Workshop (the pre owner was there). Do you think they changed the seals anyways and they should be fine if I'm using them again? I guess they changed the spark plugs at least at around 100k like it should be done 😅 Sadly the seals are not as easy to get as the other parts, that's why I'm thinking of using the old ones again 😅
Hi, I did the same thing changing the plugs, I got a vacuum leak in the back hook. If I take the manifold out would I be able to access it or needs more parts off! Thanks
Hey thanks for the video had a question what is the torque for the air intake manifold bolts if you can please let me know I would greatly appreciate it
I'm asking because after the plugs were replaced and the coils weren't. When the car was started. It stay on for a short period and it was missing and back firing a little.
Something I will tackle on my V12 Hahahaha. Now that's a bear of a job! I'll be making mine a little easier in future by putting the A.C compressor to the axe.
Hey there. I have a question. I got the restricted performance light on. Nit so much of misfire but maybe a bit. Also it has lean condition for codes. And at 3k revolutions it starts to bang.
Ok, so you disconnected the battery. Now after replacing the coil packs and plugs the car starts. That's great! The only problem is the power doors don't lock, the left headlight only works on high beam, the right turn signal won't stop blinking, the radio only plays polka, the right rear tire lost pressure and everyplace you drive a huge bird craps on the driver's door handle. Every Jag should have a "Master Reset" button right on the remote control!
Thanks for the video. It's cold outside and I will have to wait until winter is over, but I will try to do this on a 2005. Don't have a heated garage. If there is oil in one of the spark plug housing, then what do you do¿ because you mentioned it was a bad thing. I have a coolant to engine leak and will be attempting a sealant once I'm able to flush the radiator and thermostat. Too cold to do that myself now in February. Think I had a number 3 misfit thats flooding. Haven't looked myself yet but that's what I was told. I don't even know the numbers to each spark plug yet
My workshop is not heated so I know what you mean about the cold. If you find oil there, your cam cover gaskets are leaking and you will need to change them too
Nice video. Question : I have a 2005 S-Type 2.7 Diesel, also a V6 engine. How does your S-Type petrol V6 engine and diesel differ in terms of the basic layout. I realize there are no spark plugs on a diesel engine.
I wish I knew more about the Diesels but the only thing I know is that they are Ford/Peugeut engine that many different companies used. They are suppose to be very realiable.
Hi Adam, great Video. I feel confident to tackle the same job, same year and model. One slight point, do you have to replace the 2 inlet gaskets?. They weren't mentioned. RSVP Roger
I have a Lincoln LS 01 that is the love of my life it is such a female I always need help with little things most of the jobs you can't just do at home
I do not know why, but how can you produce an engine in which to change the spark plugs every 30-40 thousand km, you need to remove the entire intake. It must be an English designer 🤪

Thanks Adam. I have a 2004 xj6 same engine. I thought the manifold had to come off. Now I know
Really helpful, thank you.
Hi, is it a rule of thumb to replace all 6 coil packs when 1 coil pack fails? Many thanks
Thanks for the tip!
Hai. Can you help me. I found broken tiny hose in back of manifold ( red one on 4:36 ) and i have no cloue where it when. Thanks

Are the upper and lower intake gaskets recommended to be renewed on a 120,000km car

It’s Adam but you’re welcome
Any videos on how to replace fuel injectors on a 2005 Jaguar S-Type V6 3.0?
good vid i have a misfire on number four on my jaguar i have heard that the long bolts are prone to snapping heard of this at all
So far they haven’t snapped for me but the Ford bolts are pretty weak on these cars

hello Adam, I have a question.. when change new engine do we need recognition with the car?
👌well done
Hi friend!! One question... How to install catch can oil in jaguar s type 3.0???
Hi, I did the same thing changing the plugs, I got a vacuum leak in the back hook. If I take the manifold out would I be able to access it or needs more parts off! Thanks
Yes also need to take off the filters n the top by windshield wipers
Nice video brother!
Just a question, the tools you mentioned, are they the same for a 2006 S-type?
Did you know where is the camshaft position sensor?
Hey thanks for the video had a question what is the torque for the air intake manifold bolts if you can please let me know I would greatly appreciate it
Sorry I don’t remember. I looked it up in the manual but left the manual with car when I sold it
Hey do you have to change the coils when you change the spark plugs?
I'm asking because after the plugs were replaced and the coils weren't. When the car was started. It stay on for a short period and it was missing and back firing a little.
It’s not necessary but I recommend at least replacing those under the intake. It’s silly not to
Something I will tackle on my V12 Hahahaha. Now that's a bear of a job! I'll be making mine a little easier in future by putting the A.C compressor to the axe.
It's not too bad on the V12. I would actually rather do it on a V12 haha
I have a video on doing the plugs on a V12 too 😊
I have the 2001 3.0 V6..... are there any gaskets to replace when refitting the intake...?
Yes there are intake gaskets. Mine were pretty new so I reused them
Hello. Nice channel and useful tutos ! As you need to remove the intake manifold, do you recommand to change some gaskets or related parts ? Thanks.
Do you know where the engine coolant sensor is located on a 2000 jaguar s type by any chance?
good job - thanks
Thanks for sharing. But i have traction control lights ON with check engine lights ON also.
Time to read codes
Hey there. I have a question. I got the restricted performance light on. Nit so much of misfire but maybe a bit. Also it has lean condition for codes. And at 3k revolutions it starts to bang.
Hey Adam I had a guy did the work but for some reason my car shakes

👍Many thanx for this i appreciated! I will do this service for sure i want to buy S-type as well nice classic car i believe..
Well thanks for your reply 🐝🧿
do you have a video on redoing the headlights?
No I don't yet but I plan to in the future

@@LivingWithAClassic if it only has oil in the cylinder that is not firing, is that oil being pushed up the sparkplug or a bad gasket there?
hi ,do you have a video in the vvt solenoids ?
No I don't, sorry
What is the torque for the 8 intake bolts that hold it down?
Nice video. Question : I have a 2005 S-Type 2.7 Diesel, also a V6 engine. How does your S-Type petrol V6 engine and diesel differ in terms of the basic layout. I realize there are no spark plugs on a diesel engine.

New sub. Great channel, thanks very much.
Welcome! Glad you enjoy it
What plugs did you use
Hi Adam, great Video. I feel confident to tackle the same job, same year and model. One slight point, do you have to replace the 2 inlet gaskets?. They weren't mentioned. RSVP Roger
Thanks! I reused mine since they looked brand new and they were out of stock when I needed to do it. If your gaskets are old I’d replace them
THX
Why did you change the coil packs?
Because they are common to fail. Had one failure so decided to change the ones that are hard to get to
Thanks .doesn't look much harder than doing an old Chevy. Too bad the mechanic here freaks out over working on a Jag...😱🙄
I have jaguar S type 2003 ,black coulor
Yeah that’s what’s happening with my jag what’s the code for
Thanks for sharing Adam. Did you do the serpentine belt of this Jag?
I have not but I will in the near future. Thanks for watching!
@@LivingWithAClassic Still waiting on the video you promise 😁 on doing the serpentine belt for this Jaguar 👍👍
@@teekay8134 They never do the hard jobs....without huge cuts in the vid while they go "work it out"...... YT mechanics are hilarious
Next time apply a smear of copper grease on the spark plugs to prevent seizing and hence damage to the threads.
I have a 2004 s type can you or anyone help me I need someone who knows the car

Use the high end plugs, good for 100,000
All this to change your spark plugs
im about to try this weekend
Thank you Adam - very helpful 👍
