I swear, I can click on any S-Type review video and the comment sections are all the same: most everyone LOVES and can't stop raving about their S-types!! We've owned 3 total (we currently have 2 in the driveway, and we lost the 3rd one because someone slammed into it when it was parked in the street...so what did we do? went out and bought TWO more!). Go out and hunt down your S-Type before it's too late!!
I'm on my second 3.0 V6.... i love them, it's the old saying that a Jag owners smiles through gritted teeth and say's "i love my Jag" It's a Jag thing i suppose.
I have a '99. 4.0. Only had it 4 years. The most cost effective maintenance you can do is keep the battery tip top. Under 12.5v will cause faults. Everything from taking out the fuel pump fuse to trashing the gearbox because the solenoids don't hold. Sunroof module looses it's memory, you get the picture.
I couldn't agree more! I've owned a 2003 2.5 petrol and a 2005 2.7 diesel and anyone buying used should take note! Make sure that battery is strong....I didn't, and the 2.5 has just been written off. Solenoids, gearbox issues killed it. Also, these cars are heavy on suspension arms/track rods etc. Despite all that, I love it. Sofa on wheels!
This Jag type S is simply beautiful.. No matter in what colour.. Its still standout....oozes with luxury and beauty. Loves the nice pair of headlights and front grille
I have a 1991 S type SE with 59k on the clock. Driving it is like being pulled through the air by six white swans. A senior gentleman's car. Not for chavs.
I can answer this question anecdotally; NO you shouldn't. I had an S-Type and it was by far the most unreliable and costly car I have ever owned. I got rid of it after just over a year of ownership and several thousand pounds of repairs.
I have a 2007 3.O & I constantly get co,pliments. Reliablity? Well in 7 yrs, I've only had to do gen. maintenance. In a word it's fantastic!
Hey great what does "co,pliments." mean ?

@@rod_at_adelaide5766 They are still a bargain.
Replace as you go.
More suited to a DIY mechanic.

Urghh I don't like the way Americans pronounce Jaguar as "JagWAAAA", It's "Jag-yoo-ar".

2.7 L V6 is reliable?

Not mine.
To be fair, the issues I had weren't specific to that engine.
JAGWER NO JAG YOU ARE !!!!!!!
I prefer the X Type it's more sexier
You only buy an X type if you can't afford an S type.
