Sure, at the end of close games and you need a bucket, a great player like KD or MJ can just rise up to get a bucket. That's ONE GAME. But...over 7 game playoff series AND over 4 playoff series, the coach is gonna do a lot of heavy lifting and planning to figure out how the "other" guys are gonna get the next shot.

That wasn’t his whole game, he was nimble on his feet, was a good passer for a center, and could put the ball on the floor. His whole game wasn’t bullying people in the paint
and he was not winning rings even if he barbequed chicken his defenders most of the time because it's a TEAM game, and he failed to elevate those good Lakers teammates until PHIL ARRIVED, Kobe matured(in age and skills) and his OVERALL game matured.
