To dub Friedrich Kuhlau the Danish Beethoven might be stretching a point, especially since he only moved from North Germany to Copenhagen at the age of 24, but Denmark could boast no more accomplished composers in the high noon of the Classical age, and it welcomed so prodigious a musician - not only composer but pianist, conductor and scholar - whose greatest successes during his lifetime were in the field of opera, at least until his premature death at the age of just 48, probably from hard living as much as financial problems: the story goes that when the Queen of Denmark invited him to take tea at the palace, he replied that he would accept only if drink was on offer.
I definitely think Kuhlau deserves a lot more recognition outside of his Sonatinas. As wonderful as the sonatinas are, Kuhlau has a lot of output that is rarely ever heard or performed.
A marvellous DUO of pianists and a violinist! Played with electrifying bravura. The Sonatas are so rich in symmetry, resonance and vibrancy. The DUO ignites a terrific melodic sound of harmony, presenting an overwhelming beautiful & masterful performance; it is simply fantastic!

Friedrich Kuhlau is best known for his three sets of piano sonatinas. His violin sonatas ae seldomly heard.Thanks for the upload.

Nice music a little similar to Schubert's Violin Sonatinas op. 137 or Mendelssohn's Violin Sonata in F major. Some of Kuhlau's best works I know.
