I’ve just applied to the council for an allotment there’s a bit of a waiting list but I’m super excited so very interested in watching you develop yours. Great video
I HAD ONE OF THOSE COMPOST BINS. IT ATTRACTED RATS SO I GOT RID OF IT. I BOUGHT A BLACK OLD TYPE BIN FROM AMAZON, DRILLED HOLES ALL OVER IT & USED THAT INSTEAD. IT'S FIDDLY TRYING TO TURN THE COMPOST BUT IT KEPT THE RATS AWAY.
Yeah, until about second week of April I germinate everything inside my house. However, how long they stay inside varies depending on the plant. Cold tolerating plants I move into the greenhouse as soon as I see leaves; so they get as much light as possible.
@@SaraMayers-t1j Most seeds will germinate in the dark no problem! But there are a few that need light to germinate, a common example is lettuce! 🥬 Soon as the leafs unfurl they'll start photosynthesising so light early on is generally ideal 😊

Thank you! I've just released my final allotment set up video which hopefully you'll find is useful! ☺️
Same here! Theres a massive waiting list on all the allotment plots around my area, but fingers crossed
If you don't need the space yet, you can leave the cabbages a bit longer and eat the florets (like broccoli) as well as the new leaves.
Unfortunately I needed to get some seedlings out! But I have left my Kale to flower which I can't wait for 😊

Fortunately no signs of rats so far!
Love these posts mate!
Thanks Sam! Glad you like them! 😁
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. New subscriber 👍
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed! 🌱
Hi Luke did you start your seedling inside your house before putting them into your greenhouse? Interested to know your process. Thanks

Thanks Luke and for the germination stage do they need much light or just heat?

Perfect thanks Luke
cut your loses with the cabbage there going to seed
I thought as much! Thanks for confirming! 😊
Those cabbages have gone to seed I’m afraid. Eat the fresh new leaves, compost the rest 😬
Yeah bit of a shame but next time I think I'll try starting them earlier in the year!
So nice...and you're handsome as well ☺️
Plant your cabbages, calabrese and sprouting broccoli in partial shade, they don't like direct sunlight and are prone to bolt. 😊
Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely give that a go next time! 😊
