  • It's February and I have a ton of garden ideas for you whether you have passed your last spring frost date or not! In this month’s garden guide, I focus on the vegetable crops and plants that can be started from seed or planted during the month of February and spring garden planning. If your last spring frost date falls in January, February, March or April, then you need to start sowing seeds now. Therefore, I share my tips for indoor or outdoor seed sowing. I also cover important garden tasks like pruning fruit trees, techniques for sowing seeds, and recommendations on my favorite cultivars. Spring gardening is my favorite and most abundant season. I share all my tips and tricks as a professional seed and plant nursery so you can apply them at home.

    I started my eggplants , peppers and tomato’s yesterday . Inside of course because I’m up in NY . I’ll start my beans around the 2nd week of march inside and transplant them May 1st . I have heirloom green bean seeds that my wife’s great grandmother brought over from Italy when they immigrated.

    Bees LOOOOOOVE California poppies. They self-seed, so you will never have to replant/resow them. If they get to be too many, they are very easy to pull out. The bees bathe and roll around in these poppies. Very cute!

      @JerrasGarden  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Aw, too bad. They are also very pretty. After all the recent rains, I've had to pull out a TON of them the past few days. They were starting to take over the yard! Still saved plenty for the bees to enjoy, though. If you don't mind dandelions, bees love those too. Sunflowers will give them plenty of powder to roll around in also.

      I'm not aware of any mango varieties that tolerate cold below 25F (zone 9B). The best thing would be to visit your local nursery and ask around. They would carry the varieties that would grow well in your area/zone.

      @JerrasGarden  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I will have to do a whole video about it LOL. Thanks for the idea though. Just plant the bulb and they grow. They grow best when plant right now because the heat kills them off. The bulbs will not sprout again next year for us in FL. So not perennial like in other states. Try to choose heat tolerant cultivars. There is a list of heat tolerant varieties here: www.dahliasocietyofgeorgia.com/downloads/Heat%20Tolerant%20Dahlias_Alphabetical.pdf

    • @JerrasGarden

      What kind of flies? Is it white flies or gnats? White flies lay white circle eggs under the leaves.

    • @rustygirl8174
      @rustygirl8174 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They don't seem to be white. Very small, seem to be colorful and sparkly... They come out in a swarm when I'm going through the bushes looking for beans. I thought maybe I had a fungus and I have been spraying for the fungus, but that has done nothing for the flies. The leaves are getting brown spots and then they turn yellow and die. Edit: I caught one. They are tiny and a lime green color!

    • @JerrasGarden
      @JerrasGarden  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Some cultivars of tomatoes have a natural purple tint in the stems and leaves. If your not growing one of those, then the purple hue is usually caused by a phosphorus deficiency. I would fertilize with a liquid fertilizer at half strength every week. Too much light tends to cause white patches on the leaves which is essentially sunburn.
